The BBB states that mundanes can detect sorcery based upon the force of the spell but how obvious would it be what type of spell was cast? Could a mage say deliberately fall down, moan in pain, then cast say a subtle mind control spell and explain it to bystanders as casting a resist pain for chronic back pain without seeming like a horrible liar?

Most spells aren't noticeable unless you're looking for it. The exceptions are when you have geas. As far as I'm concerned, if you see some standing around concentrating, who knows what kind of spell they might be casting or if they're just concentrating on pushing a massive fart out without shitting their pants.

The other exception is when the mage takes physical drain, sudden massive hemorrhaging is usually a bit odd. Also, shamanic masks can cause a very noticeable effect.

Spellcasting + Magic
Con + Charisma opposed test. Subtract dice from both tests for trying to do two things at the same time.
