My internet has been acting up lately; I should be able to play at least part of tomorrow's game, if not the entire session. Hopefully disconnections won't be an issue but I really cannot make any promises.
In related news, Consumer Reports says my ISP (Charter Communications) is the worst of any major cable service provider. Not that I have much choice in the matter; I could get dsl, I suppose, but that would be rather expensive unless I ditch digital cable television entirely. Woo. |

So we decided to build a fusion bomb. This seems like a bad option, but a necessary option. We get Taro to agree to run the team to do it.
We head for the reactor room to get some critical parts. We find it kind of odd that the computer tells us that there is no reactor room. . . . So we (minus me) go in and notice several things, all bad. A hole in space appears, leading somewhere "else". There is an astral lizard with it's head stuck in the the reactor. There are odd shadows everywhere in the room. And the pressure starts to drop... Three shadow like critters follow Carden's astral link back and decide that they have better use for his body than he does, so they materialize. Sarah kills one and Carden nukes the rest with an mana static. We talk about it and go in the get the stuff we need. A giant tentacle from beyond tries to grab Taro and Juichi shoots it. Which is just as well as the rest of us can't see it. Then we manage to kill the radiation spirit munching on the reactor. It contaminates the room trying to kill Carden with it's radiation attack, but when it's dead the computer figures out that it does have a reactor after all.... Very odd. So having got all the stuff we need we head out. The reactor room still won't hold pressure. We head over to the terminal research area. We determine that there is not real evidence of the explosion we heard (there are no drone parts, for example) and that the devil rats are acting much too smart, playing jenga. The smart devil rats would concern us more if they weren't doing this in a room with no oxygen.... We file it in the too hard pile and go on. We recover half the tablet. We can't read it, so we plan to head back up to the cafe. That's were we cut it. Part1 (I started late, does anyone has the first 30 minutes?) [ Spoiler ] Session Start (kzt4dumpshock:franktrollmanchat94): Sat Jan 05 13:29:54 2008 [13:30] FuriousPuffin: the full complement. Excellent. [13:31] kzt4dumpshock: OOC:Sorry, had to get a perscription and I oersplep, so I was late [13:31] narsetantalus: isn't Catharz Godfoot missing? [13:31] jackendavoxgsf: No problemo, you haven't actually missed anything other than Belfast making martinis [13:32] 366425001: cool. [13:33] FuriousPuffin: and by making martinis, she means pouring gin into a pitcher, then calling it a martini to maintain a veneer of refinement ;) [13:33] kzt4dumpshock: I see... [13:33] FuriousPuffin: *laughs* [13:33] FuriousPuffin: so shrk has turned into some sort of worm based zombie? [13:33] 366425001: btw, kzt, what's your damage track looking like these days? [13:33] FuriousPuffin: how was the fix the water treatment plan going? [13:34] 366425001: poorly; it was late, I was tired, and kzt was knocked out, so it got put on hold, more or less, last i checked. [13:34] kzt4dumpshock: I think I'm becisally running on stimulants. I was all out of stun until the first aid. [13:34] FrankTrollman: Pretty much. [13:35] jackendavoxgsf: And then I came back and said something about a morgue, and everyone went 'oh crap' and we found out shark's body is missing again [13:35] FrankTrollman: Your Water Filtration Expert still has to go in and make adjustments a few times. [13:35] FrankTrollman: The place is currently partially pressurized and under containment. [13:35] kzt4dumpshock: I'd asked the computer to repressurize it to 30Kpa slowly and then to start warming it. [13:35] FrankTrollman: Also true. [13:35] jackendavoxgsf: So what are we doing first, water treatment or zombie hunt? [13:36] FuriousPuffin: Just ask Mr Computer where shark's commlink is? [13:36] FrankTrollman: Also on the itinerary was finding the source of the periodic water leak. [13:36] kzt4dumpshock: Do was have tapes of when water treatment lost pressure? [13:36] FrankTrollman: Yes. [13:36] FuriousPuffin: it is probably still co-incidently walk around. [13:36] FrankTrollman: The tapes aren't super informative. [13:36] narsetantalus: hmm... an intriguing set of choices.. [13:36] 366425001: My suggestion is to have kzt take a nap whether he likes it or not while I work on binding that Force 3 plant spirit I whipped up while you guys check out the water treatment situation. [13:36] 366425001: an hour or 3 under doctor supervision can do a lot for stun. [13:36] FrankTrollman: It gets dimmer and then the pressure drops. [13:36] kzt4dumpshock: Akio needs sleep badly.... [13:37] FrankTrollman: Off Topic: anyone know how to keep a laptop from turning off the USB Mouse? [13:37] 366425001: The binding obviously isn't a super important have to be done now thing though, so I could certainly accompany for magical support/counterspelling if necessary [13:37] kzt4dumpshock: Hmm, like someone transported the room to aplce where they was no air? [13:37] FrankTrollman: I keep having to pull it out and replug it in, which is dumb. [13:37] FuriousPuffin: that's retarded - but I'm guessing its a power saving feature, what brand is the laptop? [13:38] kzt4dumpshock: Check the power/sleep setting. [13:38] narsetantalus: OT: never had a single problem w/ mine... [13:38] jackendavoxgsf: Sarah nods and says "I'll go with them just in case something else from the other side shows up. We should leave some firepower here in case they try to mount an offensive" [13:38] FrankTrollman: It's a Fujitsu. [13:38] kzt4dumpshock: Aiko says we also need to look at communications and fix it. [13:38] FrankTrollman: Just something that has started happening lately. [13:39] kzt4dumpshock: Do was have tapes of the even in communications? [13:39] kzt4dumpshock: sorry, event? [13:39] FrankTrollman: Oddly enough, no. [13:39] FuriousPuffin: might be that your mouse is busted. Might started doing that after I dropped it onto concrete. [13:39] FrankTrollman: The cameras in communications were off when that went down. [13:39] kzt4dumpshock: But the pressure loss pattern is similar or different? [13:40] FrankTrollman: Similar. [13:40] kzt4dumpshock: Fun. [13:40] FuriousPuffin: Aiko, I reckon something weird was happening in comms just before all the shit started to go down, one of them was definately trying to send an escape message. [13:40] jackendavoxgsf: "Alright, I think we should split into three teams of two - one to go to water treatment, one to go to communications, and one to track down Shark's corpse." [13:40] FuriousPuffin: Do we have the corps from comms? [13:40] FuriousPuffin: *corpse. [13:40] kzt4dumpshock: "They are not dead!" [13:40] kzt4dumpshock: They are hever in medthings. [13:41] kzt4dumpshock: here... [13:41] FrankTrollman: No corpses in Communications, as they are not all dead, but mostly dead. [13:41] FuriousPuffin: ahh [13:41] jackendavoxgsf: "Hoshi, Karloff, and Heines should be able to hold the fort here" [13:41] FuriousPuffin: and we are trying to defrost them, in the hectitic running, I'd forgotten. [13:41] kzt4dumpshock: The cold wasn't the main issue, anoxia was. [13:42] FuriousPuffin: I'll dispatch a radiopathic request to the computer for the current location of shark's commlink, then I'll see if either of the corpses have cybereyes. [13:42] FuriousPuffin: 'corpses' [13:42] jackendavoxgsf: "I meant the zombie. Like I said, we have three time sensitive tasks, so we should split up." [13:42] kzt4dumpshock: But it wasn't that long that it's beyond reasonable that they might recover, whether completely or not is another question. [13:43] narsetantalus: so, why do we need to go to communications again? [13:43] jackendavoxgsf: ((That's IC wanting to split up... OOC I agree that splitting up is annoying)) [13:43] jackendavoxgsf: " [13:43] kzt4dumpshock: Who do we not have? Shark, the naga, the guy the naga stabbed, who elese? [13:43] jackendavoxgsf: We need to reestablish comms with Earth and apprise them of the situation" [13:43] 366425001: "I disagree that it should take a seperate group for Shark or the Naga." [13:43] narsetantalus: Oh... [13:44] 366425001: "We don't know where they are, for all we know we're as likely to run up against them investigating the immediate problems." [13:44] jackendavoxgsf: "And who knows what sort of damage they can cause to the facility if we let them run amok uncontested?" [13:44] FrankTrollman: SHARK'S COMMLINK IS NOT RESPONDING [13:44] kzt4dumpshock: I'm going to put an alpha on my lynx. Seems more generally useful. [13:45] FrankTrollman: Note that you'd already made off with Shark's commlink. [13:45] FuriousPuffin: "The naga appeared to be the centre of an explosion caused by Ayuami? Don't all signs point to the fact he punched his ticket?" [13:45] jackendavoxgsf: ((Where are you getting an Alpha out of curiosity?)) [13:45] FuriousPuffin: Had we? buggar. [13:45] 366425001: "Provided we find them in time. It's not a sure thing either way. I can sic a watcher on the task, if you'd like. If it's the Naga it'll probably be quickly dispatched but that in itself is helpful." [13:45] kzt4dumpshock: My room, if there isn't one in the box of guns. [13:46] jackendavoxgsf: My impression was the the box of guns was just pistols, lasers, and rocket launchers. [13:46] FrankTrollman: There are no assault rifles in the box of guns, because they give out gyrojets instead. [13:47] 366425001: Speaking of guns, there wouldn't happen to be any Predator caliber APDS, would there? And actually, how does a gyrojet stack up to my smartlinked pred w/ normal ammo? [13:47] FrankTrollman: People get the same "space weapons" whether they are on planetside or star bases. [13:47] jackendavoxgsf: ((and nobody IC has asked Sarah where she came up with a FN HAR and Combat shotgun)) [13:47] kzt4dumpshock: (your personal box of guns?) [13:47] FrankTrollman: Ir's a 6P, -2 AP SS pistol. [13:47] 366425001: (I was thinking of asking about if YOU happened to have any APDS, but I figured that may be indiscreet) [13:48] 366425001: I'll stick with my predator then. [13:48] FrankTrollman: Heh. Sarah is in security, why wouldn't she have crazy guns? [13:48] jackendavoxgsf: Actually, she wasn't technically security... she was the Saftey Administrator [13:49] FrankTrollman: True. [13:49] FrankTrollman: And what's safer than a combat shotgun? [13:49] 366425001: Sarah's weapons are probably the most normal thing on the station, compared to the thaumaturgical staff and the Force 4 sacrifice focus I pocketed off Kurchek : P [13:49] FuriousPuffin: (Everyone has undeclared firearms, I have an FN HAR and a ingram smartgun, I was just running with 'don't ask, don't tell'' [13:49] jackendavoxgsf: Its just that she's served with 90% of the security team as a CO in the past and still holds the rank of Col. [13:49] 366425001: I'll probably have to give that back though, but whatever. [13:50] 366425001: Not like I'm a blood mage anyway. Plus, I don't even technically know what it could do since Frank basically made it up anyway. ; ) [13:50] FrankTrollman: Certainly Kurchek would want you to, binding those things is expensive. [13:50] jackendavoxgsf: Seriously, you try telling a combat verteran that the best thing they can have is a gyrojet pea-shooter and see what happens [13:51] 366425001: Yeah, I did it with the intention of disarming him more than the D&D "Check for loot!" mindset. [13:51] FrankTrollman: Hey, it's practically a bolter pistol. [13:51] FrankTrollman: Well, you are in a maze filled with wandring monsters. [13:51] jackendavoxgsf: At anyway, back to IC: "Alright ladies and gents, its time for a sound off. Who here has real weapons or combat training, and how is everyone on ammo?" [13:51] narsetantalus: yes, but how much ammo do we have? [13:52] 366425001: To be honest, when I noted the power focus, I really did think of having the guardian sit on the garbage bag, ungooing him and letting the bastard suffocate. [13:52] 366425001: But that's a bit loot-whorish ;-) [13:54] FrankTrollman: The bag full of guns you have in there has a hundred and fifty rounds of gyrojet ammo. And two battery packs for the laser. [13:54] kzt4dumpshock: I have just an alpha and the MGL-12, plus the taser and pred. [13:54] narsetantalus: "um, I've had a little training. But I have no weaponry beyond this Gyrojet pistol." [13:54] FrankTrollman: The laser battery packs go for 100 "shots" before they need to be recharged. [13:54] 366425001: "...I'm a very good astral combatant and I know a good deal about matrix security, but other than some AR "laser" tag I'm pretty green." [13:54] kzt4dumpshock: The lynx can use the mgl, I can't. [13:55] 366425001: "I know to keep my head down and got a smartlinked Predator though." [13:55] FrankTrollman: Hoshi, Karloff, and Heines of course have combat experience. [13:55] jackendavoxgsf: "I'm trained in the use of that model actually, how much ammunition do you have for it?" [13:56] FuriousPuffin: "I'm not useless, but I normally use drones for real firepower." [13:56] kzt4dumpshock: Just a little : only 17 flash bang, 15 HE, 50 frag. [13:57] jackendavoxgsf: "Hmm... leave it with the drone on flash bangs... the others risk causing a hull breach. I won't ask how it got on-station." Sarah grins with her joke at the last. [13:57] 366425001: (For the record, Carden's actually pretty damn useless with the predator with this suit on, and without it he's not really any better than a rent a cop.) [13:57] kzt4dumpshock: (we are kind of short on rent-a-cops) [13:58] 366425001: (If he escorts purely on the Astral though he's perfectly capable of taking down about any astral form via combination of Astral Combat, high logic and Mana Static though. Seriously, he's pretty mean that way) [13:58] kzt4dumpshock: I't's actually hard to breach the hull down here. You have to punch a hole in 10 meters of rock. [13:59] kzt4dumpshock: Unless you suck it out from the astral.... [13:59] FrankTrollman: To get to the surface yes. [13:59] narsetantalus: where the hell are we anyway? [13:59] FrankTrollman: Remember though that there is a cave network attached. [13:59] kzt4dumpshock: Tis true. [13:59] FrankTrollman: It isn't 10 meters in all directions. [13:59] FrankTrollman: Currently, the café. [14:00] narsetantalus: Ok [14:00] FrankTrollman: Which is in the base, in Hellas Planitia crater. [14:00] kzt4dumpshock: But you are talking ATGMs or sustained autocannon fire to breach the hull in most places. [14:00] jackendavoxgsf: "Alright, if we look like we are running low on ammo, there is an armoury kit in my quarters. I've got about 90 assault rifle rounds, 90 shotgun rounds, 60 nonlethal rounds for the pistol, and 60 lethal rounds." [14:00] FrankTrollman: And the hole is in the gorund, and the green grass grows all around. [14:00] FrankTrollman: That last part is not true, it is song lyrics. [14:01] jackendavoxgsf: "Hoshi, Karloff, how are you armed? You have any of your personal gear in your quarters still?" [14:01] 366425001: "How lethal we talkin? I got a full clip... and it's mostly for things that don't bleed anyway. I'm not so hot against drones." [14:01] kzt4dumpshock: Anyone have an idea how and why something is stealing the air from the astral? This seems to have really bad long-term implications. [14:02] jackendavoxgsf: "If we're down to pistols, we're in trouble." [14:02] jackendavoxgsf: "But standard caseless rounds. I left the good stuff earthside." [14:02] 366425001: My guess is that it's either some sort of crazy spirit or the alchera. [14:03] kzt4dumpshock: How can we stop it? [14:03] 366425001: The station's sealed, but that doesn't mean the territory our plane is merging with is. [14:03] jackendavoxgsf: "My personal guess is that the gate downstairs is spreading... kind of like the shock-wave from a nuke's detonation... but the hokish pokish version." [14:03] kzt4dumpshock: So we kill the gate? [14:04] FuriousPuffin: I have 130 ish SMG and assault rifle rounds in my quarters. [14:04] jackendavoxgsf: "That's what I want to do. Some people would prefer to open it and play god though." [14:04] narsetantalus: "How can we do that?" [14:04] jackendavoxgsf: "Alright, you need to take a buddy and get that. Ammo in your quarters won't help if you're pinned down elsewhere." [14:05] FuriousPuffin: I have 4 spare loaded magazines on myself, thats just loose rounds. [14:05] 366425001: "I really don't understand the attraction to playing God. I've personally met at least a few dozen personfications of how people envision God and none of them were terribly impressive." [14:05] kzt4dumpshock: I'll go and get it with him. I need the gear from my quarters as well. [14:05] jackendavoxgsf: "I don't know exactly, but I'd guess that blowing the other side to hell would be a start." [14:06] kzt4dumpshock: We have bulk HE here somewhere, and I bet I can make more. [14:06] narsetantalus: "How do you propose we do that?" [14:06] jackendavoxgsf: "Alright. And if anyone wants, there is a Ruger Warhawk on the wall in my office along with a katana... speedloaders are in the desk drawer." [14:06] * FuriousPuffin heads off with Aiko to grab his gear and remaining microcrawlers. [14:07] jackendavoxgsf: "We are in a room with some of the most brilliant minds of the 21st century. I'm sure they can match a bunch of guys from the 1940s and build us a quick and dirty bomb." [14:07] 366425001: "How exactly does nuking the other side fix this? If it's an alchera and we merge we'll just be on a leaking space station crossed with ground zero." [14:07] kzt4dumpshock: I did my PhD on laser triggered fusion bombs.... [14:07] FrankTrollman: You also have a Fusion Reactor, you can make a bomb if you want one. [14:08] 366425001: "We should check out that gate though. I fucked up and left that tablet down there. I might be able to fix it and get an idea of what we're dealing with. It's a long shot, mind you, but it's a start." [14:08] jackendavoxgsf: "I'm guessing that the merge is dependant on somebody doing something over there. Kurchek did something to cause this, remember? And we know that the creatures on the other side are intelligent and working with the traitor" [14:08] kzt4dumpshock: Hey, the other side is full of fluid. How could we be merging? [14:09] FrankTrollman: How many people are going to the gate? [14:09] jackendavoxgsf: "By merge, they mean it is going to replace this. As in, if it happens we don't have to worry about what comes next since we won't exist." [14:10] kzt4dumpshock: But what heeps appearing are ares in vacuum. I don't get it. [14:10] 366425001: *shrugs* "Not if we control the merge. Bottom line is we don't know anything about the particulars here." [14:10] 366425001: "I'm just saying we might need to look at "rolling it back" more than anything." [14:11] jackendavoxgsf: "Come on man, vacuum is just absence of anything - pure nothing. If we're getting erased, doesn't it only make sense for there to be vacuum?" [14:11] FuriousPuffin: "Infomation is power - we should know whats on the tablet evne if we are going to try and blow things up [14:11] FuriousPuffin: it might tell us how to explode it more effectively' [14:11] kzt4dumpshock: But things keep apearing from the vacumm.... [14:11] 366425001: "Exactly. The bomb will take time anyway so I say fuck it, let's go, just not put all our eggs in one basket." [14:12] 366425001: *don't even. [14:12] jackendavoxgsf: "I'm just saying that we should start work on a contingency plan. Always have a contigency for every possible situation, and a contingency for the contingency [14:12] jackendavoxgsf: , and a contingency for a few impossible situations as well just in case." [14:13] FrankTrollman: What kind of impossibilities were you thiking of? [14:13] 366425001: "Fair enough. I just typically don't jump straight to "Dirty Bomb" when I hear the world "contingency"." [14:13] jackendavoxgsf: "So lets put someone on building the bomb while we explore other avenues. If it comes down to it and we're stumped, we blow the fraggers to hell." [14:13] narsetantalus: "Um, shouldn't we get approval from command before we nuke the base?" [14:14] jackendavoxgsf: "Who said anything about nuking the base." [14:14] kzt4dumpshock: Ok, so Aiko comes back with his boxes of ammo and the alpha. [14:14] jackendavoxgsf: "I'm talking about the other side of the gate." [14:14] narsetantalus: "err, um before we nuke their expensive research project that is in close proximity to the base" [14:14] FuriousPuffin: Reginn is tagging along with Aiko, ammo, and some microcrawlers. [14:15] jackendavoxgsf: "When I blew my O2 tank, none of the shrapnel came back through the gate with me. It isn't close proximity, its another fragging dimension." [14:16] FrankTrollman: That was what she eperienced, yeah. [14:16] jackendavoxgsf: "And this effect isn't limited to just the base. Its the whole gawdamned universe and we're at ground zero." [14:16] kzt4dumpshock: 500 caseless AR (most in mags) MGL mags, some pred rounds, etc [14:16] narsetantalus: "I still think we should contact earth, Col." [14:16] FuriousPuffin: "Sarah," jerks his thumb towards her "Wants to put the bomb on that side of the gate." [14:16] jackendavoxgsf: "Like I said, as a last resort." [14:17] jackendavoxgsf: "Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it." [14:17] kzt4dumpshock: <I'll try to get the computer to tr to represurize communications. Slowly...> [14:17] narsetantalus: "Ok..." Juichi still looks abit upset about sharing a small research station with a fusion bomb. [14:18] jackendavoxgsf: "Just for god's sake keep the electrical components separate from the bomb - I don't want it armed until we're ready to use it. The enemy does have a technomancer after all." [14:19] kzt4dumpshock: The reactor isn't a bomb. [14:19] narsetantalus: yet... [14:19] kzt4dumpshock: We'd have to build the bomb. I know how toy build a fusion bomb, but nothing about conventional explosives. We have a lot of HE IIRC. [14:21] FrankTrollman: Well, there's the construction stuff upstairs. [14:22] FrankTrollman: If you go to where they keep the earth movers, there is a fair amount of plastique. [14:23] jackendavoxgsf: Ok, Frank, who here NPC-wise would be qualified to build something high-yield for us just in case? We need to get cracking on the other stuff.... I just wanted to have a containment plan in case we fail [14:24] FrankTrollman: High yield bomb? [14:25] FrankTrollman: Taro, Kira, Machi [14:25] kzt4dumpshock: With civil enginering I'd assume know something about using explosives for construction and demolotions, but nothing about how to actually build charges. [14:26] jackendavoxgsf: ((OOC: I wanted to try to get NPCs to do that so that the rest of us could do other more active things)) [14:26] 366425001: "...I hate to say this, since I'm not exactly on board with this plan... but uh, Einstein and other great minds are a common archetype... I mean, it wouldn't be AS good of an expert or anything but..." [14:26] 366425001: "It's not like it'd actually be HIM, you know?" [14:27] 366425001: "I mean, shit, just look at my file sometime. There's spirits that know these things an I can get them." [14:27] jackendavoxgsf: "I know that. I'm just saying that somebody in here should be able to build something that will get the job done" [14:28] kzt4dumpshock: If you need a yield over a few tons (remember that fluids are typically non-compressable and shock waves go a long way in them) we'd need to build something. [14:29] FrankTrollman: Indeed, there are probably at least 8 people here who can build a fusion bomb. [14:29] FrankTrollman: Not sure if you want Dellenov or Nemanjiæ working on it. [14:29] kzt4dumpshock: That would take me a while with the nanoforge. And it might or might not work right the first time. [14:29] jackendavoxgsf: ((OOC: Guys, the only reason I brough that plan up is because IC Sarah has a military perspective, and military officers are [14:30] jackendavoxgsf: trained to think of containment first. We don't need to have PCs working on that, it was just an RP thing, hand it off to NPCs)) [14:30] 366425001: ((That's fair enough, but some of these guys are crazier than Sarah. :-P) [14:30] jackendavoxgsf: ((And some of them are saner.)) [14:31] 366425001: (Hardly comforting considering whose orders they're taking.) [14:31] narsetantalus: OOC: when you have a hammer, everything starts looking like a nail... [14:32] 366425001: OOC: How crazy is Akio's brother anyway? he might be the guy to do it... [14:33] kzt4dumpshock: OOC: Sister. [14:33] FrankTrollman: OOC: He's always seemed pretty balanced. [14:33] FrankTrollman: Sorry, she. [14:33] jackendavoxgsf: Yeah, Akio's sister sounds like a good team leader for that. [14:33] narsetantalus: I missed that memo, I assume she was a he [14:33] 366425001: Said his and him in the forum page. My bad. [14:34] FrankTrollman: My bad actually. [14:34] 366425001: Considering the Machi thing I was a pinch confused, heh. [14:35] jackendavoxgsf: Alright, IC, Sarah collects Kira, Taro, and Machi and pulls them to the side to explain what's going on and what we need for our contingency plan, probably with Akio's sister as team leader. [14:36] kzt4dumpshock: OOC: Taro Aiko's boss [14:37] FrankTrollman: Taro is the director of operations. [14:37] jackendavoxgsf: ((Scratch that part then, just have Akio's sister as part of the team - I'll take her aside and give her a pistol and tell her to use it [14:37] FrankTrollman: He;d want to be team leader, for obvious reasons. [14:37] jackendavoxgsf: if it looks like somebody is going nuts and wants to detonate the bomb on this side of the gate)) [14:37] 366425001: I have Taro as a contact; I know he always seemed harried but did he seem otherwise OK? [14:38] jackendavoxgsf: Leadership roll on getting these guys to do this, 17 dice, hits: Five successes [14:39] jackendavoxgsf: It would be the same dicepool if it was negotiation instead [14:40] kzt4dumpshock: We should also build some sachel chanrges. They would be needed to clear a path through the gate. Fluids make He work really well, fragmenation not so well. [14:41] FrankTrollman: Taro hasn't been sleeping lately, and insists that he can do that with willpower, but other than that, he seems pretty balanced. [14:42] FrankTrollman: They're going to need to get some stuff from the Fusion Reactor. [14:42] kzt4dumpshock: Like what? [14:42] FrankTrollman: He3, for example. [14:43] 366425001: He should of just did what I did and got a sleep regulator. Fat lot of good it's doing me, but I love those things from a flavor (and spell design/alchemy...) perspective. [14:43] jackendavoxgsf: Alright, lets have Hoshi be their escort - I trust him to follow orders and keep anyone from doing something crazy. [14:43] kzt4dumpshock: As long as it doesn't shut down the reactor. The room is a nightmare, we need to cover them if they go in. [14:43] jackendavoxgsf: (Speaking of sleep, how long has it been since we were having that peacful lunch?) [14:44] kzt4dumpshock: There is awfal astral shit there. [14:44] FrankTrollman: You guys have been awake for like 12 hours. [14:44] jackendavoxgsf: Alright, so how does this plan sound: We escort them to the reactor, when they finish there we hand them off to Hoshi and we head down to terminal research for the tablet. [14:45] 366425001: (Like I said, i wouldn't be opposed to taking a 4 hour in game break to bind a Force 3 spirit and get an hour of sleep and let Akio get his feet under him) [14:45] narsetantalus: Um what about water treatment? [14:45] 366425001: Yeah, I'd want to do at least that much first. [14:45] jackendavoxgsf: After that, we'll rest and recooperate before planning our next move. [14:46] 366425001: We can also do things in shifts a tiny bit if we have to as well. [14:46] jackendavoxgsf: Water treatment won't matter if we get erased from existence. [14:46] kzt4dumpshock: We need them in psuits. Adn we need to go in first to check out the astral weasels . [14:46] jackendavoxgsf: ((BTW, sarah has a sleep regulator, so she can go another 24 hours or so before needing to sleep) [14:47] kzt4dumpshock: Stopping "erased from existence" and then dying suck also... [14:47] 366425001: Does Akio healing stun necessarily require being asleep? He could provide technical advice if he had to from the cafe while we do the water treatment thing if he doesn't. [14:47] kzt4dumpshock: We need the water plant working. [14:47] FrankTrollman: It requires "resting" [14:48] kzt4dumpshock: I've got less than an hour before I pass out IIRC. [14:48] FrankTrollman: So, no fighting or enchanting. [14:49] 366425001: Like I said, my character's got a regulator too, so if Akio could sit things out but provide some advice if needed that'd be fine by me. [14:49] 366425001: Carden can keep going for a while. [14:49] 366425001: Besides, all you mundanes don't quite understand the stress of critically glitching a bad drain roll. [14:50] 366425001: He looks fine but he probably feels like he got ran through a cuisinart. [14:50] jackendavoxgsf: Alright, how about this plan: We all go and clear out the reactor room (I don't like hostiles in control of the reactor anyway...) then head to water treatment, then to terminal research... [14:50] jackendavoxgsf: then back to the cafe to rest and plan our next move? [14:50] FuriousPuffin: hey I do ;) [14:50] FrankTrollman: OK. [14:50] narsetantalus: sounds like a plan [14:50] kzt4dumpshock: Sound good. [14:50] FuriousPuffin: Sounds good [14:50] FrankTrollman: Who all is going to the reactor room? [14:50] FuriousPuffin: Reginn [14:50] narsetantalus: all of us? [14:50] kzt4dumpshock: yup. [14:50] FuriousPuffin: @Computer: Are there any other drones on this base with guns? [14:51] jackendavoxgsf: I'd say all of us, leaving the three security guys with a box of guns to protect the cafe [14:51] FrankTrollman: YES THERE ARE [14:51] jackendavoxgsf: I have to go AFK a few secs... if combat happens, I'll trust Frank to NPC me. [14:51] FuriousPuffin: @Computer, where, what, and how many? [14:51] FrankTrollman: OK. [14:52] kzt4dumpshock: I'll keep my lynx armed with the MGL and a full mag of flash-bangs. With a mag of frags cliped near it. [14:52] FrankTrollman: THERE ARE EIGHT GUN DRONES PATROLLING THE SURFACE [14:53] FuriousPuffin: How close is the closest external airlock to the cafe? [14:53] 366425001: ((BTW, do we have any sort of small vehicles on the station that we can ride to speed things along?)) [14:53] FuriousPuffin: @Computer: Will the drones operate effectively within the base? [14:53] FrankTrollman: AS WELL AS THREE VECTOR THRUST DEFENSE DRONE IN THE SURFACE HANGAR [14:54] 366425001: ((Even if it's just the equivalent of a motorized airport baggage cart I could have my plant spirit hit it with the movement power and it'd be a hell of a lot better than stumbling around in the suits.)) [14:54] FrankTrollman: (There are the crashcarts, you can ride around on them [14:55] 366425001: (Nice.) [14:55] FrankTrollman: They are intended to carry patients, so you can ride them [14:56] FuriousPuffin: Awesome. [14:56] kzt4dumpshock: But lets not get the crashcarts shot up.... [14:56] FrankTrollman: THE GUN DRONES WILL OPERATE SUCCESSFULLY IN ALL LIKELIHOOD, WHILE THE INTERCEPTORS WOULD NOT [14:56] kzt4dumpshock: We are likely to need them later. [14:56] 366425001: It's not like I plan on busting down any barricades. [14:56] 366425001: But we're probably wasting stupid amounts of time in these suits. [14:57] 366425001: Even Sarah can be slowed down by them, and I know my character's pretty sorry in one athletically. [14:57] FuriousPuffin: @Computer: Can you recall 4 of the gun drones to the nearest external airlock to the cafe? [14:57] FuriousPuffin: (High security clearance) [14:57] 366425001: Besides, who'd come in after us with the crash carts anyway? I doubt the security guards can take anything the PCs can't. [14:58] FuriousPuffin: For retasking to my personal control to help supress events within the base. [14:58] FrankTrollman: THAT WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE [14:59] jackendavoxgsf: ((I'm back)) [14:59] FuriousPuffin: Okay, lets roll out then. [14:59] 366425001: ((I mean, seriously, we're going to be -way- faster on the crash cart; it's wheeled/tracked/whatever and doesn't bounce around in low gravity like we do and I can triple it's speed with my Force 3 Plant Spirit) [14:59] FuriousPuffin: With a crash cart, we can leave it outside as we go into the tricky bits. [15:00] kzt4dumpshock: Ok, as long as we don't use it as an IFV I'm good. [15:00] FuriousPuffin: Lets do that then [15:00] jackendavoxgsf: It'd be good to have a crashcart nearby anyway. I have some first aid training, but not much [15:01] FrankTrollman: It's wheeled/tracked. [15:01] FrankTrollman: Like a WWII transport, but smaller. [15:01] jackendavoxgsf: Is the reactor room pressurized? And are the suits similar to the full body armor in the book in that the armor is decreased to 10 without the helmet? [15:01] FrankTrollman: The reactor room is pressurised. [15:02] kzt4dumpshock: It was astrally unstable last time I was here. [15:02] 366425001: Alright, I'm using two of my Spirit's three remaining services to guard our new wheels and provide it with the movement power. [15:02] jackendavoxgsf: Better wear the helmet anyway then, just in case [15:02] jackendavoxgsf: I do have a new oxy-tank now though [15:02] 366425001: I'll just handle other magical tasks myself. [15:02] jackendavoxgsf: Alright, I'll take point. [15:02] kzt4dumpshock: Reginn, you want to run my lynx? [15:03] 366425001: It can suddenly slow things as well as speed things up as well, so I imagine handling won't be TOO much of an issue, but don't go crazy. :-P [15:03] FuriousPuffin: I'm that hot at it :) [15:03] FrankTrollman: So Kira and Taro are with you guys to collect supplies, and you're heading down to the reactor [15:04] FuriousPuffin: I can slap a machine sprite into it (my usual plan) but I I have a rating 5 sentry sprite atm, so I'll just use it [15:04] FuriousPuffin: (not that hot even) [15:04] FuriousPuffin: Yeah, using the troop crawler ^H^H^H^H^H^H^H crash cart. [15:05] 366425001: I will not be held responsible if the TM crashes the Crash Cart at 40 hojillion miles an hour just because I made it into a hotrod. [15:05] jackendavoxgsf: Frank, in the SR3 rules I remember that the equivalent of Leadership: Tactics could be used to help out in combat... anything for SR4 for that? [15:05] 366425001: My character sucks at leadership; he's got like 4 dice with it. [15:05] narsetantalus: Um, AR? (I think it provides similar bonuses) [15:06] FrankTrollman: As far as I know, the Small Unit Tactics skill is gone from adding initiative bonuses. [15:06] 366425001: and a specialization in negotiation. He could pull rank on the cook but I think that's about the extent of his powers. [15:06] jackendavoxgsf: The reason I was asking is because I have 20 dice for Leadership: Tactics [15:07] FuriousPuffin: I don;t drive [15:07] FuriousPuffin: I have sprites for that. [15:08] 366425001: Driving is reaction based, so if everyone's defaulting it likely should be Sarah behind the wheel. [15:09] 366425001: And in case anyone was wondering, Task Spirits can do many things but they're shitty drivers. [15:09] jackendavoxgsf: Sarah would prefer to take point and make sure we don't walk into an ambush... I think we are complicating things unnecessarily. But if you really want to, I'll drive the hotrod contraption. [15:09] FuriousPuffin: Or you coudld just jump in. [15:10] FuriousPuffin: heck I could just jump in [15:10] FuriousPuffin: but lets go! [15:10] narsetantalus: don't we have a rigger on the team? [15:10] 366425001: Apparently not. I kinda figured we'd have one, honestly, since it seemed like we'd have several techies. [15:10] FuriousPuffin: Reginn hops on board, slinging his rifle over his lap. [15:11] narsetantalus: Juichi climbs into/onto the vehicle carefully in his bulky psuit. [15:11] jackendavoxgsf: Sarah moves ahead, Ripley-Style with Assault rifle at the ready on three round burst with shotgun slung. She has re-enabled the smartlinks. [15:11] FrankTrollman: Catharz is playing a Rigger, but his computer is toast. [15:12] narsetantalus: Oh... [15:12] kzt4dumpshock: I can rig stuff, but my only vehicle skill is aircraft. [15:12] kzt4dumpshock: Just so there would be someone who didn't have to default if we needed to fly the hell out of dodge. [15:12] jackendavoxgsf: Why don't we give Catharz one of the off-the-shelf comms that are floating around the base (or one we got off of a corpse or sedated person) [15:12] narsetantalus: Well, why don't we let the dog brain drive itself then? [15:13] 366425001: I'm fine with that too. *shrug* I would think we'd have some high end programs available. Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is. [15:13] 366425001: We don't have to go at 90 thousand miles an hour. [15:13] FrankTrollman: Since he does in fact exist, he can operate it remote. [15:13] 366425001: If we go at normal walking speed rather than I'm in a P-Suit speed I'll be happy. [15:14] narsetantalus: let's go then [15:14] FuriousPuffin: Works. [15:14] FrankTrollman: And along the way, let's get perception (hearing) tests. [15:15] jackendavoxgsf: Ok, like I said, I'm taking point - looking for an ambush. Probably making military hand signals nobody knows what they mean. [15:15] kzt4dumpshock: Do we get the test in the suit? [15:16] kzt4dumpshock: I'll pop out a coule of spy flies to fly point and trail. [15:16] jackendavoxgsf: I got four hits on audio perception [15:16] narsetantalus: 3 hits [15:16] 366425001: pfft... I just had to get a Balance Damper instead of hearing audio enhancement in my cyberears... Stupid worrying about zero grav balance and nausea. [15:16] 366425001: 4 hits anyway though, lol [15:16] kzt4dumpshock: 1 hit [15:17] FuriousPuffin: 3 hits. [15:17] 366425001: I think dashifen's diceroller likes me or something. [15:17] 366425001: Considering something else. [15:17] 366425001: but can't really complain. [15:17] FuriousPuffin: (nearly glitch with 3 sixes and3 ones) [15:17] FrankTrollman: Heh. [15:17] 366425001: actually, isn't that a glitch? [15:17] narsetantalus: you could try:(Link: http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/) http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/ [15:17] 366425001: I thought it just has to be 50% which is why some prefer odd pools. [15:17] FrankTrollman: That actually is. [15:17] jackendavoxgsf: I think it has to be more than half in ones to be a glitch doesn't it? [15:18] 366425001: unless you have 7 dice+ and aren't mentioning the others. [15:18] 366425001: Nah, they tweaked the rule of 1 to come up more often for this edition. [15:18] FuriousPuffin: I thought it was more, I have 9 dice. [15:18] 366425001: ah, you're fine then. [15:18] 366425001: Sorry, just getting ahead of myself. [15:19] FuriousPuffin: Thats cool, my fault. [15:19] FuriousPuffin: OOC: (Link: http://www.random.org/dice/?num=9)http://w...org/dice/?num=9 <-- is good. [15:19] FrankTrollman: It;s half 1s. [15:20] FrankTrollman: Anyway, many of you hear footsteps up ahead in the reactor room. [15:20] narsetantalus: Ok, gyrojet is being readied. [15:21] FrankTrollman: The lights are currently not on in there, which is odd. [15:21] jackendavoxgsf: I'll put up a hand and signal to slow down, and move up slowly to get a look at what's going on before we go in. [15:21] FuriousPuffin: I radio Catharz to stop the trucks, jump off, and bring gun up. [15:21] kzt4dumpshock: Cameras in the area up? [15:21] 366425001: msg@All "I am going invisible, but keep your AR up; I"ll update my location via image link. From here out be careful not to shoot me..." [15:22] kzt4dumpshock: Hae the flyspy look too [15:22] jackendavoxgsf: I have crazy good eye-mods and eye-light system as you are aware frank [15:22] FrankTrollman: The lights are supposed to be on all the time. [15:22] 366425001: Force 3 Improved invisibility spell: 5 hits, so it's threshold 3. 3 hits on the Drain resistance test. [15:23] FrankTrollman: And the camera is on, but it doesn't show much. [15:23] FuriousPuffin: @Computer: Lights please? [15:23] kzt4dumpshock: Does the fly spy? [15:24] FrankTrollman: I AM UNABLE TO COMPLY WITH THAT REQUEST [15:24] jackendavoxgsf: Do I see anything? [15:24] FrankTrollman: The fly spies with its little eye, something beginning with C. [15:24] 366425001: msg@all "Sarah, want me to project into the room?" [15:24] FrankTrollman: It's a cup of coffee. [15:24] FuriousPuffin: @Computer: Why? [15:25] kzt4dumpshock: A warm cup of coffee? [15:25] FrankTrollman: The footsteps which you hear are not seeming to be associated with anything. [15:25] FrankTrollman: It is cold. [15:25] jackendavoxgsf: MsgReply@all "I'd say do what you feel comfortable with. I'm moving in." [15:25] FrankTrollman: THE LIGHTS IN THIS SECTION DO NOT EXIST [15:25] jackendavoxgsf: Sarah moves in, AR up and ready, checking corners etc. [15:26] kzt4dumpshock: What happened tp make them not exist? [15:26] FuriousPuffin: Reginn swears loudly in russian into his suit about bloody stupid gung ho alchoholics. [15:26] 366425001: Alright, I prop myself up in my seat and strap in, then project into the astral. [15:26] kzt4dumpshock: Flyspy to sweep the room [15:26] jackendavoxgsf: Are the lights physically there when I move in? [15:27] FrankTrollman: THERE HAVE NEVER BEEN ANY LIGHTS IN THIS SECTION [15:27] kzt4dumpshock: Ok, that's a lie right? [15:27] FrankTrollman: It isn't true. [15:27] FuriousPuffin: I'll patch myself into sarah's AV feed if possible, and cover her, using lowlight. [15:28] kzt4dumpshock: Not good. We'll hae to go poke through the vomputer in a few.... [15:28] 366425001: I'll move just ahead of Sarah, trying to keep myself hidden in the astral shadows. [15:28] jackendavoxgsf: Sarah's AV feed is a combo of lowlight, eyelights, thermo, Radar, etc. [15:28] jackendavoxgsf: Speaking of which, am I getting anyone other than us on my radar sensor? [15:28] kzt4dumpshock: Feed the flyspy to Sarah, give her control. [15:29] narsetantalus: Juichi is moving to cover the rear of those entering the room. [15:29] 366425001: *Don't anyone forget about my meat bod either, even if it is an invisible shape slumped strapped into a seatbelt : P [15:29] kzt4dumpshock: Keep the one behind us on general patrol for things coming. [15:30] FuriousPuffin: Reginn will wait outside for the moment. [15:31] narsetantalus: In which case, I'm not so much covering the rear as following [15:31] FrankTrollman: Meanwhile, Sarah's suit is registering a drop in temperature. [15:31] 366425001: Any unusual corresponding phenomena on the astral? [15:31] kzt4dumpshock: I'll check around us on Astral. [15:31] FrankTrollman: Assensing tests. [15:32] jackendavoxgsf: Sarah holds up a hand to signal a stop while she looks around the room in her varying spectrums for any presence. [15:32] kzt4dumpshock: 2 hits [15:32] 366425001: 3 hits [15:33] FrankTrollman: OK, illusion magic all over the place. [15:33] FrankTrollman: Some kind of bizarre physical illusion. Not one you're familiar with. [15:33] kzt4dumpshock: Do we want ot try to counterspell it? [15:34] 366425001: I'll attempt it. Teamworking test? [15:34] jackendavoxgsf: ((Assuming you inform me about it "Please... we really don't need to be poking around a reactor without knowing exactly what we are poking)) [15:34] FrankTrollman: Also, there's a big lizard. [15:34] kzt4dumpshock: Umm? [15:34] 366425001: Dual-natured by any chance? [15:34] FrankTrollman: It's a big lizard, it's pure astral. [15:34] FrankTrollman: It's about a meter long, not including tail. [15:35] 366425001: I don't suppose it's a friendly lizard. [15:35] kzt4dumpshock: I don't suppose it's friendly? [15:35] narsetantalus: *sigh of relief* [15:35] FuriousPuffin: rofl. [15:35] FrankTrollman: It is partially on fire, and it's partially inside the reactor [15:35] kzt4dumpshock: This seems bad. [15:35] FuriousPuffin: is lolling hard. [15:35] 366425001: Fire spirit? Sounds like a salamander. [15:36] 366425001: of the mythical variety, i mean. [15:36] 366425001: I'll assense it; if it is a spirit i want to know whose it is. [15:37] kzt4dumpshock: Are we in the reactor room now? [15:37] FrankTrollman: It is indeed a spirit of some kind. [15:37] FrankTrollman: If you'd like to be. [15:37] FrankTrollman: Also, the astral is coming apart. [15:38] 366425001: eew, like a void forming coming apart? [15:38] kzt4dumpshock: Comming apart... Could you be more precises. [15:38] 366425001: I'll roll astral theory if necessary again, I just want to know if my character thinks it's time to get the hell out of dodge. [15:39] kzt4dumpshock: I was figuring I was still in the hall, but I'm not sure where everyone was. [15:39] FrankTrollman: Looks like incomming astral alchera. [15:39] kzt4dumpshock: Great.... [15:39] 366425001: I'm just ahead of Sarah via astral projection. [15:39] FrankTrollman: Also, everyone in there, roll Intuition + Counterspelling. [15:39] kzt4dumpshock: Where is the backup reactor and is it running? [15:39] 366425001: 4 hits. [15:40] jackendavoxgsf: Ok, is anyone giving me counterspelling? [15:40] FrankTrollman: The backup reactor is on the other side of the base and it's in standby mode. [15:40] FuriousPuffin: Sarah is in the room, Frank is infront of her astrally projecting, Juichi is backing them up. [15:40] kzt4dumpshock: If I can see you, yes, you have 4. [15:40] narsetantalus: 4 hits on intuition w/o counterspelling [15:40] FrankTrollman: That gives off a spall amount of power. [15:40] jackendavoxgsf: 2 hits (4 intuition + 4 Counterspelling) [15:41] FrankTrollman: OK, well Sarah's suit starts reading a drop in pressure. [15:41] narsetantalus: 2 more hits on the counterspelling dice for a total of 6 [15:42] kzt4dumpshock: 2 hits, but I'm in the hall looking in. [15:42] FrankTrollman: Juichi sees some of the air open up like a zipper, revealing a hole in reality. [15:42] narsetantalus: that is assuming kzt can see me... [15:42] FrankTrollman: Yes. [15:43] narsetantalus: "What the hell is that?!" as he gestures with the business end of the gyroject pistol he is carrying and backs up several steps. [15:43] jackendavoxgsf: Ok, so my suit is reading a drop in pressure - that's inside the suit, right? [15:44] 366425001: and I mean from the manifestations I saw earlier, I realize I can't see the zipper. [15:44] kzt4dumpshock: I think everyone needs to get out of the room now. . . . [15:44] jackendavoxgsf: Sarah replies "I don't see anything, but my suit says the pressure just dropped." [15:44] FrankTrollman: The suit registers pressure outside itself. [15:44] jackendavoxgsf: Ok [15:45] kzt4dumpshock: I think there is another astral object coming in. [15:45] FrankTrollman: So yeah, the pressure is dropping, and the computer is going to close the doors. [15:45] jackendavoxgsf: Oh crap! [15:45] narsetantalus: "There's a fricking hole in the air, hard to explain but it looks like really bad news!" [15:45] FrankTrollman: Anyone who wants to be inside, can be inside, anyone who wants to be outside, can be outside. [15:45] jackendavoxgsf: Sarah hauls ass [15:45] narsetantalus: ditto [15:45] kzt4dumpshock: Bring the scondary reactor on-line and hte primary to as low power as possible. [15:45] narsetantalus: I really don't want to be in there [15:45] 366425001: Well... My astral form's on the inside, but the door isn't enough to stop it from pulling out if need be. [15:46] jackendavoxgsf: "Alright people, lets move to the secondary target." [15:46] FrankTrollman: So you're abandoning the primary reactor then? [15:46] 366425001: In deference to my character' stupid, stupid mentor flaw, I think he's too curious to astrally back out of the room entirely, although he'll default to his logic for astral "infiltration" if possible. [15:47] FrankTrollman: Astral stealth is indeed Logic + Infiltration. [15:47] kzt4dumpshock: Unless there is a way to stop an astral object from coming through I don't see us as haing much choise. [15:47] 366425001: 6 dice then... [15:47] 366425001: Okay, I got 3 hits. Dashifen's roller officially loves me a whole huggy bunch. [15:47] kzt4dumpshock: I'll pull the flyspy out. [15:47] jackendavoxgsf: Ok, wait a second. Frank... [15:48] kzt4dumpshock: I'm just hoping there isn't any damage. [15:48] 366425001: although, actually... I got 2 ones, so if you consider astral infiltration to be a magical ability, I just glitched. [15:48] jackendavoxgsf: From what I understand, the pressure suddenly dropped, and my teammate was yelling that a hole opened up in the astral, right? So as far as I can tell, there is nothing I can do. [15:48] kzt4dumpshock: 2 ones on 6 dice isn't a glicth, is it? [15:48] narsetantalus: Astral? I said there was a hole in the air... [15:49] 366425001: I have the Cursed quality at lvl 1. [15:49] jackendavoxgsf: We can however move towards the second reactor while our astral buddies investigate the primary [15:49] 366425001: Normally it's not an issue because Carden throws stupid amounts of dice in most magical tests. [15:49] kzt4dumpshock: Do the cameras in the reactor room still work? [15:50] FrankTrollman: So while Carden is sneaking around in there, he sees a number of black spindly shapes coming out of the holes. [15:50] jackendavoxgsf: Ok, I think I misunderstood what was going on... if the room loses pressure then the doors seal, but we can still do the hallway airlock thing, right? [15:51] 366425001: They like those worms or any other critter previously described? [15:51] FrankTrollman: Yes you can, if you want to get back in, you have a methodology. [15:51] FrankTrollman: They are more like the shadows seen earlier. [15:52] jackendavoxgsf: Ok, I want to go back in (I wouldn't have left except I misunderstood what was going on - thought the hole was on the astral rather than the physical) [15:52] FuriousPuffin: (The hole is onthe astral.) [15:52] kzt4dumpshock: Those critters can be really dangerous and some have serious ranged attacks.... [15:52] FuriousPuffin: (Hence our puzzlement about the air pressure) [15:52] kzt4dumpshock: So be careful. [15:53] narsetantalus: (But there is also a hole on the physical) [15:53] kzt4dumpshock: Is there? [15:53] narsetantalus: Frank? [15:53] FuriousPuffin: (Err damn, actually your right) [15:54] jackendavoxgsf: Ok, I'm just confused as heck IRL then. My impression when I decided to run was that the room was being sucked into a nothing-hole. [15:54] FrankTrollman: Meanwhile, the shadows seem to be following Carden's line of connection to his body. [15:54] FrankTrollman: Juichi saw a physical hole. [15:54] FuriousPuffin: (9:42:10 AM) Frank Trollman: Juichi sees some of the air open up like a zipper, revealing a hole in reality. <-- and e doesn't astrally perceive so it is physical. [15:54] FuriousPuffin: aha right [15:54] FrankTrollman: Other people and the computer's camera did not report that. [15:54] FuriousPuffin: okay sweet. [15:54] kzt4dumpshock: I'll do something about the shadows if they get outside the rector room and head for his body. [15:55] kzt4dumpshock: Not sure what..... [15:55] jackendavoxgsf: Ok, I think I misread stuff. Anyway, I guess I'm outside the reactor room and getting the computer to depressurize the hallway so I can get the door open again. [15:55] 366425001: I'm setting my spirits 3rd service to "Watch my shoes" then. as well. [15:55] FrankTrollman: OK. [15:56] 366425001: well, i should say 4th and final service; just the 3rd this session, i guess. [15:56] FrankTrollman: Akio is astrally perceiving, so he sees these three spindly things coming over to stand next to Carden's shoes. [15:57] kzt4dumpshock: "Heads up, astral critters!" and cast stunbolt as I move away . [15:57] 366425001: bleh. Alright, I guess I'm revealing myself then. [15:58] FrankTrollman: They reveal themselves as well, materializing. |

Part 2
[ Spoiler ] [15:58] jackendavoxgsf: Initiative? [15:59] 366425001: I'm staying on the astral. I'm fast as hell there. [15:59] kzt4dumpshock: One success on stunbolt. 3 on drain. [15:59] FrankTrollman: Oh absolutely. [16:00] jackendavoxgsf: I go on 11 [16:00] FuriousPuffin: I glitch my initative roll with 5 1s and no sucesses. [16:00] narsetantalus: 3 initiative hits (init=4 dice) [16:00] jackendavoxgsf: (I had three hits and init score of 8, adjusted for suit) [16:00] 366425001: I go on 12. [16:00] kzt4dumpshock: 1 hit [16:01] jackendavoxgsf: (ergo 11) [16:01] FuriousPuffin: sod actually I critically glitch [16:01] 366425001: Cool, frank can say you pooped yourself if he wants. [16:01] FrankTrollman: You don't have to have pooped yourself. [16:02] FrankTrollman: There's lots of reasons to not go until the end of combat round. [16:02] FrankTrollman: Those things are short. [16:02] 366425001: Yeah, I know, just sayin' [16:02] FrankTrollman: A moment's indecision. And all that. [16:02] kzt4dumpshock: I'd have a 7 then [16:02] FrankTrollman: In any case, Narse is the first to spring into actioning. [16:03] 366425001: I'm just used to crit glitches being pretty bad; my old irl gm usually counted it as accidentally dropping a weapon or retconning it to mean you're suprised. [16:03] narsetantalus: so how far away are they? [16:03] FrankTrollman: Well, camped around Carden's shoes. [16:04] FrankTrollman: So, basically in melee range. [16:04] FuriousPuffin: I'd be surprised if I wasn't suprised by spiders popping out of the astral right infront of me. [16:04] 366425001: erm, wait are we going by normal initiative rules or the houserule initiative I saw earlier? I scored 2 hits with 10 dice for 12 initiative if that's how we're doing things. [16:04] narsetantalus: ok [16:04] FrankTrollman: Let's do the house rules. [16:04] kzt4dumpshock: Ok, so just on sucesses? [16:04] jackendavoxgsf: What are the house rules? [16:05] FrankTrollman: Just hits on initiative. [16:05] jackendavoxgsf: I rolled my init score -1 for the suit penalty to reaction, had gotten three successes [16:05] FrankTrollman: On the grounds that it's easier to report it just like all other tests. [16:05] FrankTrollman: OK, so you'll go on 3. [16:05] narsetantalus: so then: I'm taking aim and putting this gyroget to good use after stretching a bit and calling a shot (+2dv) against the closest thing [16:05] 366425001: I got 2 hits then despite the 10 dice. [16:06] 366425001: my meat body's still invisible, if that counts for anything. [16:06] kzt4dumpshock: 1 hit. And not for a dual natured critter is isn't. [16:06] narsetantalus: I believe I have 7 dice [16:06] FrankTrollman: Well, that tags it in the narrow and this seems to hurt it a lot. [16:07] narsetantalus: wait, did you just roll? [16:07] narsetantalus: for me? [16:07] kzt4dumpshock: That was just init for me.... [16:07] narsetantalus: oh, missed that... [16:07] FrankTrollman: Sorry, I though 2 hits was the shot itself. [16:07] FrankTrollman: My mistake. [16:08] narsetantalus: anyhow, I got 1 hit on those 7 dice. [16:08] jackendavoxgsf: So who goes first since Narse and I both have three hits? (I don't care, but want to know how the house rule handles that) [16:08] 366425001: Frank seems to do the simultaneous thing a lot. [16:08] narsetantalus: well, you know what I'm doing even if I don't go first [16:09] FrankTrollman: Simultaneous works. [16:09] 366425001: Agreed. [16:09] 366425001: Could friendlies "hold" actions to see how their buddy does first prior to making decisions or how does that go? [16:09] FrankTrollman: Sure. [16:11] jackendavoxgsf: Ok, on the one to the left of my teammate's shoes, I'm firing a narrow three round burst at its center of mass (-4 dice, +4 DV called shot) followed by a second narrow burst in the same arc (non-called). [16:11] FrankTrollman: No problem. [16:12] FrankTrollman: It gets 3 hits dodging, by the way. [16:12] FrankTrollman: It's all fluid and fast moving, being made out of the absence of light and thought. [16:12] jackendavoxgsf: 19 dice, -4 for called shot. Rolling: Seven hits on fifteen dice. [16:14] FrankTrollman: That causes it to stop existing. [16:14] jackendavoxgsf: DV is 6 + 4 called + 2 narrow burst + net hits. AP is -1. I don't know if its dodging me or Narse first so I'll let you do math. [16:14] FrankTrollman: The 1 hit was insufficient for it to hit. [16:14] jackendavoxgsf: Second shot on next one, just regular shot, 19 dice - 2 for being a new target in the same action phase [16:14] jackendavoxgsf: Regular narrow burst I mean [16:14] FrankTrollman: K. [16:14] narsetantalus: great, it dodged my potshot and took the monster burst of death [16:15] jackendavoxgsf: Only four hits on 17 dice [16:15] FrankTrollman: It gets a 1 hit dodging the second shot from Sarah [16:15] FrankTrollman: Causes it 5 boxes. [16:16] jackendavoxgsf: Suh-weet. I'm done until second IP [16:17] FrankTrollman: Who goes on 2? [16:17] 366425001: I do. [16:17] narsetantalus: Oh: because I forgot to mention it: movement. I am heading toward the spider-things slowly until I get within melee range [16:18] 366425001: Lemme see... Sarah threatened a pretty high damage value, these suckers seem pretty tough. [16:18] narsetantalus: and I suck with a pistol... [16:19] narsetantalus: kinda anyway... [16:19] 366425001: Well, I'd hate to nuke my own plant spirit, so if at all possible I'd like to consider him dismissed, so I'm going to drop an Edge fueled Mana Static on these guys. [16:19] 366425001: I mean, he's out of services anyway, disrupting him via mana static just seems mean. [16:19] FrankTrollman: OK. [16:19] FrankTrollman: You can dismiss as a free action. [16:20] 366425001: Yeah, he's going home then. What force should i consider the mana static for purposes of drain? Edge uncaps the hits anyway, right? [16:20] 366425001: Or how do you prefer to handle that? [16:21] FrankTrollman: Well at that point, Force controls the area, and the ability to counterspell. [16:22] FrankTrollman: So pulling in some more drain is not necessarily a bad plan in any case. [16:22] 366425001: Alright. I'm limiting it to Force 4 so I'm still technically magical and rolling then. Any net hits beyond 4 I will use for help with the hefty drain resistance. [16:23] 366425001: well, the net hits as extra dice i mean, not just automatic hits on the drain test. [16:24] 366425001: if that's okay. I guess I should have thought through my questions better first before. [16:24] FrankTrollman: Hmm? [16:24] FrankTrollman: Last I checked, you had to assign dice ahead of time. [16:27] 366425001: Okay, I guess I"ll just go with normal force 4 then, with edge, not holding any dice. sorry my brother bothered me. [16:27] 366425001: 5 hits, it's a full force 4 mana static. [16:28] FrankTrollman: Heh. I understand how that goes. [16:28] 366425001: 3 hits on the drain resistance test. They should be considerably weaker now, at least. [16:28] FrankTrollman: They all vanish as if they'd never been. [16:28] FrankTrollman: Also, your invisibility drops. [16:29] kzt4dumpshock: Cool. Anything happen to the illusion magic? [16:29] 366425001: that's fine by me, I'll sustain it for a while. [16:29] 366425001: the static, I mean. [16:29] FrankTrollman: It's a 4m radius. [16:30] FrankTrollman: So the illusion magic is still pretty much in the room. [16:30] 366425001: The Static'd area still gives us a place to sit and think though. [16:30] kzt4dumpshock: Hmm, can you move around and dispell it? [16:31] FrankTrollman: You can move it to places you can see. [16:31] 366425001: I could probably sustain the Static and walk out of its range and dispel the room that way. [16:31] FrankTrollman: Until it permanents. [16:31] 366425001: Frank let me move it around earlier but yeah, I'm not sure how long he wants me playing around with a Force 4 anti-magic area. [16:31] 366425001: not that it's as bad as a void or anything, mind you. [16:32] kzt4dumpshock: If at allows us to recover these rooms that would be cool. [16:32] jackendavoxgsf: Indeed [16:32] FrankTrollman: Go for it. As a permanent spell, it's sustained until it fixes. [16:32] jackendavoxgsf: The moment they vanish, Sarah pulls out her clip, flips it and puts the fresh one in (remember, she duct taped clips together) [16:32] FrankTrollman: So you can move it on your action to a place you can see. [16:33] FrankTrollman: Which resets the time. [16:33] kzt4dumpshock: Can we clear out the reactor room? [16:33] FrankTrollman: As long as you keep dribbling the ball, it'll never come to a rest. [16:33] 366425001: I'm dropping back into my body for now so I can talk with people and let 'em know what I did. Technically only the astral active actually know what just happened, heh. [16:33] jackendavoxgsf: While we're doing other things, she is pulling out more bullets to top off the clip on the bottom. [16:33] jackendavoxgsf: I know they vanished, that's it... ergo the reloading. [16:33] 366425001: God mana static has nasty drain. I mean, I only took like 2 stun thanks to the damper, but damn. [16:34] kzt4dumpshock: I'll stay away from him... [16:35] FrankTrollman: Reasonable. [16:35] 366425001: "I'm fine... I static'd 'em again. Dunno what the hell's happening though. Let's just move. [16:35] 366425001: "I can move it into the reactor, but we should work fast." [16:35] jackendavoxgsf: "Computer, please repressurize reactor room and open the door." [16:36] kzt4dumpshock: Is teh static visable on the astral? [16:36] 366425001: I'd think it'd be something you could sense. [16:36] 366425001: Or notice so easily as to be trivial; you saw me casting and then bam, background count. [16:36] 366425001: a pretty big localized one at that. [16:36] FrankTrollman: It's very visible on the astral, it's rating 5 background. [16:37] narsetantalus: ouch [16:37] FrankTrollman: I CANNOT COMPLY WITH THAT REQUEST AS THERE IS NO REACTOR ROOM TO BE REPRESSURIZED [16:38] FuriousPuffin: Is the door in any network? [16:38] jackendavoxgsf: Frank, does my radar sensor in my noggin detect a reactor room on the other side of the door? [16:38] FrankTrollman: Absolutely. [16:38] FrankTrollman: It's... right there. [16:39] narsetantalus: OOC: Maybe we should get the computer to represurize our location after entering the reactor room? [16:39] 366425001: Hrm, well, technically my magic rating is only 5; I really did mean for it to act as Force 4, I just wanted to absolutely make sure I got the hits. [16:39] 366425001: If i can sustain it at 5 though and just be counted as mundane that's cool too though, I just wanted something i could sustain for a while. [16:39] kzt4dumpshock: We can just open the door. That will represurise it... Hang on to something.... [16:40] jackendavoxgsf: I'll run a bypass on the door's maglock then. [16:40] kzt4dumpshock: Ok with everyone? [16:40] 366425001: Dropping any sort of mana static spell at all is kind of something you want to make stick if you bother with it at all considering the hellacious drain code. [16:40] FrankTrollman: If you entered your mana static, you would dispel it. [16:40] narsetantalus: sure its fine [16:40] 366425001: ah, okay, i was just confused then. [16:41] narsetantalus: so does mana static drop magic ratings of characters and spirits then? [16:41] FrankTrollman: Yes it does. [16:42] narsetantalus: O [16:42] FuriousPuffin: thats why it is absolutely great. [16:42] jackendavoxgsf: Three hits on eight dice (logic+hardware+maglockspecialty) to bypass the maglock on the door and open it manually. [16:42] 366425001: It's a bitch of a spell to cast, but when potential shedim are poking around your shoes you suck it up and take the drain. [16:42] jackendavoxgsf: (unless somebody objected) [16:42] narsetantalus: "want some help getting past that maglock colonel? [16:43] FrankTrollman: So you're just popping the door open? [16:43] jackendavoxgsf: That was the idea - depressurize the hallway and pop open the door [16:43] kzt4dumpshock: I can do that also. Park the lynx for mass... [16:44] jackendavoxgsf: "Be my guest, not my specialty - just saving time." [16:44] kzt4dumpshock: We don't need to depressurise the hall, unless the door opens into the reactor room. [16:44] FuriousPuffin: Can I hack into the base systems and repressurise it myself? [16:44] jackendavoxgsf: The door does open to the reactor room - the computer says the room doesn't exist, but my radar tells me it does. [16:44] jackendavoxgsf: So we use the hardware to pop the door since the computer can't/won't do it. Much less time consumed that way. [16:45] FrankTrollman: OK, when the door starts popping open, the air starts rushing out of your hallway into the reactor room. [16:45] narsetantalus: Yes.. [16:45] kzt4dumpshock: Anchor myself to the lynx, pop the door. 5 success. [16:45] FrankTrollman: Also, the computer drops a hallway section behind you. [16:45] kzt4dumpshock: I though we'd already done that ourselves? [16:46] FuriousPuffin: While the team runs around being macho, I'm going to ask the computer where the corridor I am standing in goes. [16:46] narsetantalus: good idea [16:46] FuriousPuffin: or just get a map of the complex. [16:46] kzt4dumpshock: Roll in iBall [16:47] kzt4dumpshock: Along the near wall. [16:48] jackendavoxgsf: Wait for the 'all clear' signal from KZT and then move into the room. [16:48] FrankTrollman: REACTOR HALLWAY A GOES TERMINATES IN AN AS YET UNFINISHED SECTION [16:49] 366425001: I'll just keep following everyone else at a safe distance from my own Static. [16:49] kzt4dumpshock: Anything on the iBall. Stanard camera, LL, IR. [16:49] narsetantalus: Oh yeah, I'm going to be following, but also trying to avoid the static if possible. [16:50] FrankTrollman: Once you get the iBall in there, you can measure the temperature and pressure, both are very low. [16:50] FuriousPuffin: I'll ask the computer how many reactors the base has. [16:50] kzt4dumpshock: Lower than the hall? [16:50] FrankTrollman: Also, the lights are still off. [16:50] FuriousPuffin: First I'll hack into lights and turn them on [16:50] FuriousPuffin: this should be really easy if the computer hasn;t got them in its network [16:51] kzt4dumpshock: Anything moving? Any hot spots other then the reactor? [16:52] jackendavoxgsf: Alright, I move into the room and look around for anything hostile or otherwise dangerous (aside from the reactor obviously) [16:52] FrankTrollman: Well, the reactor makes IR patterning weird. [16:52] FrankTrollman: Hacking the lights to turn them on is very easy. [16:52] kzt4dumpshock: But I work there, I'm used to how it should look. [16:52] FrankTrollman: The computer believes that there is one reactor. [16:53] FrankTrollman: True. Extra IR images all over the place. [16:53] FrankTrollman: Like someone took a very hot hamster and rubbed it all over the walls. [16:53] FrankTrollman: Painting them with energy which cools as visible radiation [16:53] kzt4dumpshock: Ok "IR looks really odd, hot spots on the wall." [16:53] narsetantalus: eww... but very descriptive [16:54] kzt4dumpshock: Ok, I'll move away from the door to allows anti-magic guy in. [16:54] FuriousPuffin: Well, I'll punch on the lights then [16:55] FrankTrollman: No problem, those things aren't super special awesome encrypted or anything, people are supposed to be able to turn them on. [16:56] FrankTrollman: The coffee has frozen. [16:56] FrankTrollman: There's water on the floor, which has also frozen. [16:56] FrankTrollman: A layer of frost covers lots of things, leaving visible shapes on the walls where it is not. [16:57] jackendavoxgsf: Alright, if nothing is immediately dangerous, lets get the eggheads in here and get the job done while Akio tries to bring the reactor back online. [16:57] FrankTrollman: These shapes look like writing of some kind. [16:57] narsetantalus: Oh great... [16:57] kzt4dumpshock: Look at them in astral. If they are visable record them electronically. [16:58] FrankTrollman: Also, there are still seams in the world's continuity. [16:58] jackendavoxgsf: Ditto on the recording (if I can see them in the physical). [16:58] FrankTrollman: On the far side is a void filled not with shadow, but the actual absence of existence. [16:58] FrankTrollman: It's hard to look at or acknowledge. [16:59] FrankTrollman: Currently, I think only Juichi can see them. [16:59] narsetantalus: (It can never hurt to have 3 visual logs) Juichi also will be recording everything from now on (gotta love that infinite headware memory) [17:00] 366425001: In all honesty, I imagine that image links and data recorders like those in cybereyes work a lot like tivo. [17:00] 366425001: Something awesome happens and you can decide if you want the recording to be saved after the fact. [17:00] narsetantalus: but with infinite storage, yes? [17:01] 366425001: Yep. [17:01] FrankTrollman: Well, exceedingly large stoarge. [17:01] 366425001: A car accident happens and if you're the morbid sort you're like holy shit, save until I delete. [17:01] 366425001: Exceedingly large storage, and even bigger if you have a bunch of linked devices available that you can squirrel the data onto later. [17:01] FrankTrollman: You're not going to run out of it so long as you just keep interesting moments in your life. [17:02] FrankTrollman: True. [17:02] narsetantalus: Ok, exceedingly large storage with extremely efficient storage algorithms. [17:02] narsetantalus: Also I belive this qualifies as an "interesting moment" [17:03] narsetantalus: When I said storage algorithms I meant compression algorithms. [17:04] FrankTrollman: I figured. :) [17:05] narsetantalus: If I need to worry about memory space, I'll process the recordings during down time. [17:05] FrankTrollman: Astrally they aren't anything. Traces of illusion magic are everywhere of course, and those fucking holes in space that Juichi is talking about are right there! [17:05] narsetantalus: (OOC: Told you so!) [17:07] jackendavoxgsf: So.... how about we get what we need and get out before the room stops existing. [17:07] FuriousPuffin: Move the mana static over the hole [17:07] FuriousPuffin: ? [17:08] FuriousPuffin: or patch the holes back through the science staff and ask 'wtf'? [17:08] jackendavoxgsf: ((We came to get materials that the eggheads need... so lets get them before the holes get worse, yes?)) [17:08] 366425001: Does assensing the hole do any good? [17:08] 366425001: I would guess not, since it's pretty complex. [17:08] FuriousPuffin: ((Actually we came to fix the reactor [17:09] 366425001: But yeah, I guess I can just throw the field up over the hole, although I doubt it'd accomplish that much. [17:09] FuriousPuffin: err no wait no [17:09] FuriousPuffin: okay just grab the stuff) [17:09] 366425001: If nothing else it should provide some protection against anythign that comes through. [17:10] FrankTrollman: So, moving the Mana Static to the holes? [17:10] 366425001: Well, not over the holes, per se, I'll just plop it over the gear we're grabbing for now. [17:10] FuriousPuffin: (do it, what could possibly go wrong?) [17:11] kzt4dumpshock: I'll move so I can watch on astrl [17:11] 366425001: I just want to provide cover for the techies to do what needs to be done and to get the gear out. [17:11] FuriousPuffin: I'm suggesting it because the holes are clearly not mundane, so they may be magical. [17:11] 366425001: If that's already done, then yeah, I'll try edging it over the hole. [17:11] FuriousPuffin: and if so mana static could bone them. [17:12] 366425001: I get that, but I just want to make sure we don't strictly -need- the mana static anymore in case something goofy happens. [17:12] FuriousPuffin: In the mean time I help the science staff with the reactor as best as I can. [17:12] kzt4dumpshock: That would be good [17:12] FrankTrollman: OK, well, they are taking out Fusion fuel, and spare compressors, and some structural elements. [17:12] 366425001: I don't know -what- that could be, but magic never needed me to understand it to bone me over. [17:12] narsetantalus: True dat. [17:13] narsetantalus: I'll help in anyway possible [17:13] 366425001: Over these holes would seem like as good a place as any to let the Static go permament though when it finally starts becoming permament. [17:13] kzt4dumpshock: I'll try to be sure nobody does anything bad [17:13] jackendavoxgsf: Sarah stands guard. [17:14] jackendavoxgsf: And will help out in any ways someone who knows nothing about nuclear physics can. [17:14] FrankTrollman: Juichi sees the rifts widen. [17:14] FrankTrollman: Responses? [17:15] narsetantalus: "Looks like something is happening with the holes." [17:15] narsetantalus: "there getting wider" [17:15] jackendavoxgsf: "Move like you have a purpose people!" [17:15] FrankTrollman: Thing kind of like an anteater tongue starts coming out of one. [17:16] FrankTrollman: Still only Juichi can see it. [17:16] narsetantalus: "sometings coming out" [17:16] narsetantalus: !! [17:16] FrankTrollman: People astrally perceiving, roll Willpower + Counterspelling. [17:16] narsetantalus: Lining up pistol on tounge [17:16] 366425001: Alright, on juichi's word I snap the field onto the hole then. [17:16] kzt4dumpshock: Active counterspell, cover everyone I can [17:16] 366425001: I'll keep maintaining it, hopefully it stays up and anything that comes out will be severely weakened. [17:17] jackendavoxgsf: "ETA doctor?" Sarah snaps - needing to know how much longer the eggheads need to get the gear [17:17] kzt4dumpshock: 2 hits [17:17] FrankTrollman: OK, the tongue is going for Taro, Juichi can fire if he wants. [17:18] narsetantalus: yes [17:18] narsetantalus: stretching first: & called shot: +2 DV [17:19] narsetantalus: 3 hits [17:19] narsetantalus: On my other simple action I'm going to warn Taro: "Watch out!" [17:20] 366425001: Alright, since shit's obviously going down, from here out I'll contribute my counterspelling pool to kzt's for a teamwork test. I only got 1 hit though, but a bonus die is a bonus die. [17:20] FuriousPuffin: (My sentry sprite is tasked with signal defense on everyone) [17:20] kzt4dumpshock: If I have a good idea where the hole is and it's away from the people in the room. I'll send the lynx in to suppress it. If I don't know where is to do that I will not. [17:21] FrankTrollman: Juichi fires a gyrojet into space, and then there's an explosion and a big chunk of sticky muscle hits the floor. [17:21] jackendavoxgsf: Anyway I can interpose myself between Taro and whatever it is Narse is yelling about since he had pointed in the direction it was coming from? [17:21] FrankTrollman: The mana static moves to the gate, and the rest of the tongue comes into view, as it bleeds blue fluid and retreats back into the hole. [17:22] narsetantalus: "It looks like its leaving" [17:22] FrankTrollman: At this point, Sarah can jump into position if she chooses. [17:22] kzt4dumpshock: Does the hole show up on cameras and sensors? [17:23] FrankTrollman: Now it does. [17:23] jackendavoxgsf: Sarah is going to keep herself interposed between Taro and the holes (where I'm told they are) until the eggheads finish [17:23] FrankTrollman: Fair enough. [17:24] kzt4dumpshock: swap out the FB mag for a frag mag and move the lynx to cover it. Program the rounds to go off 3 meters past the wall. [17:25] kzt4dumpshock: Make sure nobody else is on the gun-target line. [17:25] FrankTrollman: Pressure is bottoming out. [17:26] kzt4dumpshock: Air leaking out the hole? [17:26] FrankTrollman: No. It's just going away. [17:27] FrankTrollman: There's no wind, the pressure is just falling. [17:27] kzt4dumpshock: Hmm. .Not good. Same pattern as before when somethingcame in? [17:27] FrankTrollman: Yes. [17:28] FuriousPuffin: (OOC: Is that spirit still on the astral) [17:31] FrankTrollman: Yep. [17:31] jackendavoxgsf: Sarah is readying her rifle, and is prepared to interpose herself between the eggheads and whatever materializes if an when it happens. [17:31] kzt4dumpshock: The lizard? [17:32] FrankTrollman: The lizard is in fact, still there. [17:33] 366425001: Someone say hi to it. [17:33] narsetantalus: Curiouser and curiouser. [17:33] kzt4dumpshock: Do we want to do something, agressive, or not, to/about it? [17:34] jackendavoxgsf: Its not bothering us, so why don't we leave it alone for now? [17:34] narsetantalus: sounds good to me, but I have no control over what happens on the astral [17:35] kzt4dumpshock: But its in MY reactor! [17:35] 366425001: I guess I'll shift into astral perception and try to attract it's attention. [17:36] FrankTrollman: It turns its head towards you slowly when you yell. [17:36] FrankTrollman: And then it turns its head back into the reactor. [17:37] FuriousPuffin: It might be wise to try and see what its doing to the reactor/mana static it. [17:37] jackendavoxgsf: I'd say wait until we have what we came for, then frag with the spirit, but its Akio's call. [17:38] jackendavoxgsf: Gotta go AFK a moment [17:38] FuriousPuffin: that works too [17:38] kzt4dumpshock: Is there any evidence that the reactor isn't working correctly? Adn does the reactor have any effect on the astral? [17:38] FuriousPuffin: @Computer: So, is the other reactor supplying all the base power at the moment? [17:39] FrankTrollman: THE BASE IS CURRENTLY POWERED AND DOES NOT NEED TO DRAW UPON THE REACTOR AT THIS TIME [17:40] kzt4dumpshock: Ok, we really needt o have a heart to heart with the computer.... [17:41] kzt4dumpshock: Do the controls in the room show everything is good? Bottle containment, temp, feed rates, power putput? [17:41] FuriousPuffin: @Computer: How is the base powered? [17:42] FrankTrollman: Presently, the controls say that the reactor is working properly. [17:42] jackendavoxgsf: ((back)) [17:42] FrankTrollman: But it has a set of "tasks" lined up for the next five hours. After that, nothing. [17:42] kzt4dumpshock: Tasks? [17:43] 366425001: I'm going to assense the spirit, maybe I'll get a sense of some kind of emotional expression rather than apathy. (but I doubt it). 4 hits. [17:43] FrankTrollman: Like a printer. [17:43] 366425001: It's got a command queue up, I guess. [17:44] FrankTrollman: Only instead of putting out pages, it has timed crushing He3 together. [17:44] kzt4dumpshock: For the reactor, or teh main computer? I'm confused. [17:44] FrankTrollman: The reactor. [17:44] kzt4dumpshock: Is that normal? [17:44] FrankTrollman: The Computer apparently isn't talking to the reactor any more. [17:44] 366425001: I wouldn't be surprised if the spirit's hitting it with the Accident power or something similar. [17:45] 366425001: it's not the same as a vehicle crash, but i could see how it could be making the reactor glitch or something. [17:45] kzt4dumpshock: Then we need to do something... Darn. [17:45] FuriousPuffin: If the reactor runs out of 'tasks' will it just go into stand by? [17:46] FrankTrollman: Good question. [17:46] 366425001: Might wnat to ask just what the tasks are too, by the way. [17:46] FrankTrollman: Reactors aren't really supposed to run out of tasks. [17:46] 366425001: Get Sato to look at it. [17:46] 366425001: A reactor say, not venting or something can easily fall under the bad things category. [17:47] FuriousPuffin: So, fusion reactor expert... what happens when it runs out? [17:47] kzt4dumpshock: Umm, Frank? [17:47] FrankTrollman: Probably it will dump whatever it's holding in the chambers to keep from destroying itself. [17:48] kzt4dumpshock: Ok, this seems like we need to do something. [17:48] kzt4dumpshock: I can stunbolt the hell out of it. [17:48] FuriousPuffin: Just manually queue up another year of tasks on the reactor? [17:49] kzt4dumpshock: Ok, I could do that too. [17:49] 366425001: I think I'll hit it with the static. [17:49] FuriousPuffin: Then stunbolt the hell out of the spirit ;) [17:49] 366425001: it's not a flesh form or anything so it'll be disrupted either way. [17:50] FrankTrollman: Well, when the static moves into its area, it shrinks. [17:50] jackendavoxgsf: How close are the scientists to finishing collecting what they need? [17:50] FrankTrollman: Then it glows. [17:50] FrankTrollman: Then it materializes. [17:51] FrankTrollman: The scientists told you that they needed five more minutes twice. [17:51] kzt4dumpshock: Ok (getting ready to stunbolt it) [17:51] narsetantalus: 2 hits on initiative [17:52] kzt4dumpshock: 1 hit on init [17:52] FuriousPuffin: 1 hit:) [17:52] FrankTrollman: It gets 2 hits. [17:52] kzt4dumpshock: goodie... [17:52] narsetantalus: what distance? [17:52] 366425001: 1 hit [17:52] jackendavoxgsf: 1 hit on init if it matters [17:52] FrankTrollman: It is flying out of the static and spraying radioactive fire. [17:53] FrankTrollman: Simultaneously, what is Juichi doing? [17:53] narsetantalus: stretch, take aim, & called shot +2DV [17:54] narsetantalus: 4 hits [17:54] narsetantalus: how many rounds can these pistols hold? [17:54] FrankTrollman: They pack 8 shots. [17:54] narsetantalus: so I have 5 left.. [17:55] FrankTrollman: It takes 6 Physical. [17:55] FrankTrollman: And shoots Radioactive fire at Carden. [17:56] FrankTrollman: 4 hits. [17:56] kzt4dumpshock: <Lucky for the 12 pts of armor> [17:57] 366425001: P-suits are flame retardant, right? [17:57] kzt4dumpshock: Are than any + due to the fire resitance, etc? [17:57] narsetantalus: These suits are shielded against radioactivity too right? [17:57] FrankTrollman: It's actually got the radiation resistance which is what helps here. [17:57] FrankTrollman: The armor is halved, then you add radiation resistance. [17:57] kzt4dumpshock: +10? [17:57] 366425001: I'll just have frank roll for me when it comes to the damage resistance when it comes to that part. Anyway, I got 2 hits on my dodge (ranged) test [17:58] 366425001: 0 reaction plus 4(6) Ranged - 1 for sustaining, right? [17:58] 366425001: or is that full defense only in this case? [17:58] 366425001: because I'm in the big bulky suit. [17:58] FrankTrollman: You get the Dodge in there only if you full defense. [17:59] 366425001: yeah, then I'm just taking damage. [17:59] FrankTrollman: Which is a valid choice, but it would cost your action. [17:59] 366425001: I can move the static back on it during my action, right? [17:59] FrankTrollman: Yes. [17:59] 366425001: Was going to suggest that you guys hold actions 'till I get a shot at doing that, but that ship sailed already. [17:59] kzt4dumpshock: (after I stunbolt it, please) [18:00] 366425001: Alright. anyway, yeah, no full defense then. [18:02] 366425001: I'll Edge the damage resistance test though, come to think of it. [18:03] FrankTrollman: OK, roll body + 16 dice. [18:03] kzt4dumpshock: If you have 20 dice you might not have to. [18:03] FrankTrollman: He's soaking 10P. [18:03] FuriousPuffin: radioactive spirits are bad k. [18:04] 366425001: yeah, c'mon now, it flew through a force 5 static. [18:04] 366425001: it was at -least- force 6 and it stayed to fight. [18:05] 366425001: so, with edge it's roll 3+16 armor+ 2 edge with exploding then? [18:05] FrankTrollman: At 19 dice, you are statistically better off saving the Edge and spending it to reroll failures. [18:05] kzt4dumpshock: Or reroll misses after, which seems more useful in this case. [18:06] 366425001: alright, I'll do that then. [18:06] 366425001: how about you just do it for me. [18:06] FrankTrollman: K [18:06] 366425001: makes for more drama anyway. [18:07] FrankTrollman: 6 hits on the first roll. [18:07] FrankTrollman: Spend an Edge to reroll the other 13? [18:07] kzt4dumpshock: {That should get you 4 more....} [18:08] 366425001: yeah, go with the Edge. [18:08] kzt4dumpshock: Or we can fix you without the edge. [18:08] 366425001: Use it or lose it and all that. [18:08] kzt4dumpshock: lots of medical dice here... [18:08] FrankTrollman: 5 more, dropping it down to no phtsical damage. [18:09] jackendavoxgsf: BTW, this brings up a question Frank... how/when do you refresh our edge? [18:09] 366425001: I have a tiny edge pool anyway, honestly. [18:09] 366425001: this was likely the biggest defense test pool I'll have to play with for quite a while. [18:09] 366425001: It'll suck not being able to buy going first or an extra pass, but I'll just start having to dip into combat drugs. [18:10] narsetantalus: Mmm.. combat drugs [18:10] FrankTrollman: Edge refreshes... eventually. [18:10] 366425001: I can live with getting past a 10DV attack unscathed. [18:10] narsetantalus: I should get me some of those [18:10] narsetantalus: maybe... [18:11] FrankTrollman: And then a clusterfuck of actions goes off at 1. [18:11] FrankTrollman: It's wounded. [18:11] FrankTrollman: And still alive. [18:11] FuriousPuffin: I'll unload my SMG on it with a wide burst. [18:11] jackendavoxgsf: Shot at its gizzard (I like that word) [18:11] 366425001: stun bolting, hitting it with static and THEN attacking would be waay better. [18:11] 366425001: Like worlds better, but whatever. [18:12] kzt4dumpshock: I'll stunbolt it. F7 [18:12] FuriousPuffin: Are you acting now whipstitch? [18:12] FuriousPuffin: oh you act on 3 right [18:12] jackendavoxgsf: It all goes simultaneously as I understand it. [18:12] 366425001: We can hold actions to work together if we're going the same speed. [18:12] 366425001: I asked that earlier. [18:12] FuriousPuffin: nah he goes first, then the thing, then us. [18:12] FuriousPuffin: ohh [18:12] FuriousPuffin: okay ignore me [18:12] FuriousPuffin: I'll wait for whipstitic to get the static on it. [18:12] kzt4dumpshock: 5 successes. soak drain. [18:12] FuriousPuffin: then unload. [18:13] jackendavoxgsf: I'll wait for the static, then open fire. I'm going to go ahead and roll to save time [18:14] FrankTrollman: It takes 8 stun from the Stunbolt. [18:14] jackendavoxgsf: Whenever I go, it is called shot -4, +4DV, +2 DV narrow burst. 4 hits on 15 dice. [18:15] kzt4dumpshock: Soaked 4 ... but it worked! [18:15] narsetantalus: wow, I forgot just how badass stunbolt was. [18:15] 366425001: I hit it with my field. [18:15] 366425001: and then, yeah, the mundies go. [18:15] kzt4dumpshock: The last one I cast that high did physical to me.,, [18:15] FrankTrollman: That is the end of it. [18:15] narsetantalus: Oh, I guess its not all warm and fuzzy [18:16] 366425001: Well, that went as well as can be expected considering I started the fight because I misinterpreted kzt's intentions, lol. [18:16] jackendavoxgsf: The static field or the AR shot was the end of it? (I need to know for keeping records of my ammo) [18:16] 366425001: Poor reading comprehension skills ftw. [18:17] narsetantalus: Well, no one was hurt (thanks to use of edge) so I think we can call this one good [18:17] jackendavoxgsf: Agreed Narse [18:17] FrankTrollman: The AR was its end. [18:17] kzt4dumpshock: Yup! [18:17] jackendavoxgsf: Ok [18:17] FrankTrollman: The rads in this room are now unacceptably large by the way. [18:17] narsetantalus: Well, it is a frekin reactor... [18:18] jackendavoxgsf: How long before our suits say we have to vamos ahora. [18:18] kzt4dumpshock: It's a SAFE reactor. Damn it! [18:18] FuriousPuffin: yes but they have containment so you don't die of radition poisoning [18:18] FuriousPuffin: thats the idea. [18:18] 366425001: looks like i still screwed everything up. [18:18] narsetantalus: when you say unaceptably large, do you mean so large that we need to evacuate even with the suits [18:18] FrankTrollman: About 20 minutes. [18:18] kzt4dumpshock: Yikes! [18:18] narsetantalus: wow, [18:18] kzt4dumpshock: Decon robots? [18:19] narsetantalus: thats some powerful Rad spirit [18:19] kzt4dumpshock: How is the hole in space gonig? [18:19] narsetantalus: (I think, I don't have a lot of experience with rad spirits) [18:19] FrankTrollman: The suits are limited in size and there is limited things you can do about X-Rays. [18:19] jackendavoxgsf: "Alright people, you have 15 minutes to finish before we have to pull out, so slot and run." [18:19] 366425001: alright, what exactly is it that's holding things up then? [18:19] FrankTrollman: The hole in space is very narrow. [18:20] narsetantalus: *sigh of relief* [18:20] 366425001: moving gear, repairing something? [18:20] jackendavoxgsf: "Dunno, the eggheads said they needed five more minutes twice in the past ten minutes." [18:20] kzt4dumpshock: Cool, Could carden sit on it for a moment? [18:20] FuriousPuffin: I'm going to take the logical step of standing outside the door way [18:20] FrankTrollman: Heh. [18:20] kzt4dumpshock: Is the radiation due to the stuff it sprayed? [18:20] FuriousPuffin: and potentially see what they have in the way of anti radition medication on the crash cart in 2070 [18:21] FrankTrollman: Yeah, the MAtrix static hurts your mind in there. [18:21] FuriousPuffin: Matrix static? [18:21] FuriousPuffin: from what? [18:21] narsetantalus: Radiation? [18:21] FuriousPuffin: ohh, the radiation [18:21] FuriousPuffin: I am a moron [18:21] FuriousPuffin: right okay definately standing away. [18:21] 366425001: Erm, so, yeah, can we help the eggheads in any way, would the Guard power from a spirit be any help? [18:23] kzt4dumpshock: So is it due the spirit spraying stuff? Hance if we clean it up the rad level goes down? [18:23] 366425001: Guard is kind of a loosely defined power, although I suppose flaming radiation spirit breath isn't considered a natural phenomenon. [18:23] jackendavoxgsf: Anyway, so long as I'm not occupied since I don't have any of the skills to help the scientists, I'm going to do the clip dance again to keep myself at full loadout. [18:23] 366425001: Juichi may finally have found his calling. [18:23] 366425001: cleaning could save the day. [18:23] narsetantalus: Perhaps, perhaps. [18:23] FrankTrollman: True, but Guard keeps things from glitching, which is probably just as well when people are hauling unstable isotopes around. [18:24] kzt4dumpshock: He3 is prefectly stable. More or less. [18:24] FuriousPuffin: I thought his calling was 'notice all the alien beings breaking through from another dimension before we did' [18:25] 366425001: That's more of a hobby; I think cleaning is his passion. [18:25] narsetantalus: That was because I rolled spectaculary well to resist some illusion magic, 4 hits on 5 dice, before I received counterspelling. [18:26] FuriousPuffin: *grins* [18:26] FuriousPuffin: Being lucky is functionally the same as being good. [18:26] 366425001: Anyway, think I should throw in a task spirit to speed the docs up or a guardian spirit to do what it can to fend off the evils of radiation poisoning? [18:26] jackendavoxgsf: Hmmm... something just occured to me... I wonder if when I was on the other side of the gate if I looked like a shadowy thing to the things over there... +shrugs+ Idle curiosity. [18:26] narsetantalus: Well, I am actually pretty passionate about noticing alien beings breaking through from another dimension [18:26] FrankTrollman: For small angles of theta, I am equivalent to a bear. [18:27] 366425001: You did seem to get fairly worked up about it. [18:27] narsetantalus: Well, lets just say that it wasn't in the job profile at any of the other research stations Juichi worked at. [18:28] 366425001: can i cover the hole in space without nuking any spirits I summon? [18:28] 366425001: and have them actually help the doctors, I mean? [18:28] 366425001: not sure about the dimensions we're working with. [18:28] narsetantalus: and knowing the way management works, the janitorial staff would have been stuck cleaning up the holes in reality. [18:29] 366425001: or at least tossing the radiation through the holes... [18:29] 366425001: whichever is more impossible. [18:30] FuriousPuffin: te must be stuff on the base for dealing with it [18:30] narsetantalus: So, is there some fluid or something left over from the spirit I can clean up? [18:30] FrankTrollman: Heh. The reactor is large enough for you to put the static where it won't affect your team, if that's what you mean. [18:30] FrankTrollman: The spirit left no fluid behind. [18:30] kzt4dumpshock: Is the rad localized to where it sprayed? [18:30] narsetantalus: Oh, well, I didn't bring a mop anyway [18:32] 366425001: Yech. 2 hits on my summoning test. [18:33] FrankTrollman: Looks like isotopic change along the floor and the suit between where the spirit was and Carden's chest. [18:33] FrankTrollman: What's the spirit force? [18:33] 366425001: Force 4. [18:33] FrankTrollman: 3 hits: it does not appear and you suffer 5 Drain. [18:34] kzt4dumpshock: Ok, does it come up with a rag? or bonded to the material? [18:34] kzt4dumpshock: Yikes, that like me! [18:34] 366425001: 4 hits on my soak test plus damper, no damage. [18:35] 366425001: I'll try again, I guess. [18:35] 366425001: 2 hits again. [18:36] FrankTrollman: 1 hit, 3 drain, 1 service. [18:37] FuriousPuffin: Why are you standing in a background count and trying to summon spirits? [18:37] 366425001: Alright, soaked the drain then. It can guard up to 4 people and I set it to work using Guard on the scientists. [18:37] 366425001: I stepped out of there earlier. [18:37] 366425001: I'm sending in the spirit to help. [18:37] FuriousPuffin: ohh [18:37] FuriousPuffin: right [18:38] kzt4dumpshock: anyhow, doesthe rad stuff appear bonded to the mateiral or can it be removed? [18:39] FrankTrollman: The material itself has been alchemized. [18:39] kzt4dumpshock: So changed magically? [18:40] kzt4dumpshock: Guess I'll be putting in a lead floating floor. [18:40] 366425001: I don't suppose there's anything in my talislegger kit I could use to contain the stuff somwhat safely? I kind of doubt it, it's not exactly the kind of stuff the average mage is going to looking for. [18:40] jackendavoxgsf: I think its more of it was exposed to radiation, so now its radioactive [18:40] FrankTrollman: Unless that was a super secret scientific ray gun it was holding. [18:41] 366425001: You know, I'd feel worse about exposing everyone to dangerous radiation if the water treatment expert hadn't already said we'll all get cancer from the water already. [18:42] FuriousPuffin: I think the raditation spirit being in the reactor was possibly more dangerous [18:42] kzt4dumpshock: I'll chip off a piece for analysis of decay time.... [18:42] kzt4dumpshock: Now check the local control on hte reactor and see what the task list is. [18:42] 366425001: Yeah, I'd like to think the dragon thing with the 10DV elemental attack probably had to go in the long run anyway. [18:44] FrankTrollman: It's presently being added as a new device to the base network. [18:45] FuriousPuffin: @Computer: So where do you think the reactor that is coming online came from? [18:45] kzt4dumpshock: So the dargon was what dropped if off the network? Wow. [18:45] jackendavoxgsf: Sounds like the spirit was fragging the reactor up [18:45] jackendavoxgsf: So we did a good thing :) [18:45] 366425001: Not terribly surprised. Accident powers can make vehicles crash, after all. [18:45] FrankTrollman: THE RECENTLY ADDED REACTOR HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE [18:45] narsetantalus: Why not systems? [18:46] 366425001: I still wish I hadn't of jumped the gun and misread things though and waited until the eggheads were done to do anything. [18:46] kzt4dumpshock: Put my little piece by a geiger counter etc and set it up so the computer can check it over time. [18:46] FrankTrollman: They get their stuff together on a couple of carts, and start wheeling it away. [18:46] kzt4dumpshock: Cool. Boogie out. [18:46] jackendavoxgsf: "Carden, you should probably get another suit and put yours into containment since you took a direct blast of that drek." [18:47] kzt4dumpshock: Take a meter and check everyone outside for contamintion. [18:47] 366425001: "Agreed. I'm not even sure how I'm going to safely change out of this thing." [18:47] jackendavoxgsf: Once everyone is out, I seal the door again by undo-ing my bypass. [18:48] FuriousPuffin: @Computer: Do you have a proceedure for dealing with radioactive contaimnation? [18:48] kzt4dumpshock: Flag it as dangerous and contaminated. [18:48] jackendavoxgsf: "We'll probably have to dissassemble it while you're wearing it and dispose of the chest plate before we get you out. [18:49] 366425001: "Well, could have been worse." [18:49] FrankTrollman: The computer sends you a series of protocols based on severity of contamination and the mission importance of the compromised areas [18:49] kzt4dumpshock: Will check to see if the room will now hold pressure. Just a little to start. [18:50] FrankTrollman: Nope. [18:50] kzt4dumpshock: Did the hole close? [18:50] FrankTrollman: No. |

part 3
[ Spoiler ] [18:50] FuriousPuffin: I think we need to *really hurry* on this gate problem [18:50] jackendavoxgsf: Meanwhile, I'll radio Hoshi and Karloff (Isaac, the Dwarf) and we'll turn the scientists over to those two so that we can go take care of the water plant. [18:51] kzt4dumpshock: Hmm. Any records of this hapenning elsewhwere? [18:51] jackendavoxgsf: "I agree - I believe I said something to that effect earlier when you were insisting we solve the water problem first." [18:51] kzt4dumpshock: And I'll have pulled the lynx out. [18:51] FuriousPuffin: Reginn gives an unhealthy laugh. [18:52] FuriousPuffin: "Probably. Lets go to the gate first - the 'things most likely to kill us' scale has moved depressurisation above dehydration" [18:53] kzt4dumpshock: Ok, who has demo skill? [18:53] FuriousPuffin: Hey, I'm not signed up to blowing it up yet - II'm more thinking we grab the tablet. [18:53] jackendavoxgsf: "I'm trained in demolitions... but its rudimentary." [18:54] FuriousPuffin: and try and work out fi the blow it up plan is even going to work." [18:54] *** 366425001 has left the chat. [18:54] FrankTrollman: Crap. [18:54] jackendavoxgsf: "The scientists will need time to build the bomb. In the meantime, we should pursue all other possible avenues." [18:54] FuriousPuffin: The virtuakinetic thinks he can get back to earth via the metaplane [18:54] *** 366425001 has joined the chat. [18:54] FrankTrollman: Welcome back. [18:54] 366425001: I'd complain about the disconnection, but for once it was over so quickly I'm hardly upset. [18:54] FuriousPuffin: I don't want to blow up a way out before we know if that will even close the entry. [18:55] kzt4dumpshock: Ok, we have Taro working on the big "final solution to the gate problem", we still need to get the table, fix the water system, fix commo, find the leak. [18:55] FrankTrollman: Taro is happy to work on a final solution. [18:55] kzt4dumpshock: It would be nice to have to nuke the thing. [18:55] jackendavoxgsf: "and we aren't going to blow ourselves up in any case. The other side of the gate. For now, lets get the tablet and see if we can shut the bastard down another way." [18:55] kzt4dumpshock: Sorry, it would be nice to not have to nuke the thing... [18:56] FuriousPuffin: OOC: loltastic [18:56] FuriousPuffin: "Okay, everyone on board the crash cart: Next time, ground zero." [18:56] narsetantalus: I agree, I think explosives should come as a last resort [18:56] jackendavoxgsf: "I agree, but this is ground zero of an inter-planar invasion. We have a duty to do everything in our power to make sure it stops here." [18:56] FrankTrollman: OK, so now people are heading off to the ring? [18:56] jackendavoxgsf: +nods+ [18:57] 366425001: ring? [18:57] kzt4dumpshock: That's why I'd like to get some sachel charges made, so we can clear the far side if we need. [18:57] narsetantalus: Oh, I'm toping off the clip of my gyrojet pistol on the way. [18:57] jackendavoxgsf: On the way, Sarah asked "By the way, does anyone know how devil rats are surviving in the terminal research area?" [18:57] kzt4dumpshock: The ring? [18:58] jackendavoxgsf: ((I believe he means the gate)) [18:58] jackendavoxgsf: ((Oof, gotta go afk, be back ASAP)) [18:58] kzt4dumpshock: Ok, sure. We need to clear the whole way to it. I don't trust anything down there now. [18:59] FuriousPuffin: "I'd love to know how, I thought they needed to breath still? Its curious." [18:59] FrankTrollman: Well, it involves a ladder, so you won't be able to cart it very far past the elevator. [18:59] kzt4dumpshock: Are the devil rats in the N2 atmosphere? [19:00] FrankTrollman: Yes they are. [19:00] FrankTrollman: According to the people who have seen them. [19:00] kzt4dumpshock: Ok... [19:00] jackendavoxgsf: ((back)) [19:00] kzt4dumpshock: Do we have an atmosphere test kit? [19:00] jackendavoxgsf: Yeah, our suits tell us if it is breathable [19:00] FrankTrollman: Sure. [19:01] jackendavoxgsf: Oh, Frank, I've been meaning to ask... how much off from mission time was my internal clock? [19:01] jackendavoxgsf: (Which also brings up... I've not been awake as long as everyone else since I had missing time) [19:01] FrankTrollman: It was about 10 minutes short. [19:01] narsetantalus: Seen Contact one too many times? [19:02] FrankTrollman: Never seen it. What happens? [19:02] jackendavoxgsf: Ok, nevermind then... for some reason I thought it was longer than that [19:02] 366425001: Actually, I tried to bring this up before but... [19:02] kzt4dumpshock: Yes...? [19:02] FuriousPuffin: there are atleast a dozen of them [19:02] 366425001: Msg@Sarah: "I've been meaning to ask... Did you feel anything weird on the other side of the gate?" [19:02] 366425001: I didn't get a response to this earlier when I msged Sarah, heh. [19:03] jackendavoxgsf: Oh, sorry, I didn't see it. [19:03] 366425001: Msg@Sarah: "I know security personnel are trained to recognize casting and forms passing through their auras. The chills, that stuff." [19:03] narsetantalus: essentially: alien contact, person who experiences it account can't be verified, recorders record only static, but 6 hours of static in a 5 minuet period. [19:04] jackendavoxgsf: Reply is: "Define weird a little more. The other side was nothing but weird." [19:04] 366425001: Msg@Sarah: "Overt magic use. Any that you are aware of, weirdness aside." [19:04] jackendavoxgsf: Continued reply: "Two oddest things were these spiders that were playing havoc with my range finder - like they were behind things that they were in front of" [19:05] jackendavoxgsf: "And there were a few attempts at magical mental influence, but I was able to shrug them off." [19:06] jackendavoxgsf: "at least, I think it was magical." [19:06] 366425001: msg@Sarah: "Well... Yeah, that's what I was kind of getting at. I assensed you earlier, no offense, and could tell." [19:06] jackendavoxgsf: "The spiders weren't spirits... but they showed up on my sensors like spirits." [19:06] FrankTrollman: So you can drive the crashcart right into the elevator, allowing you to take the whole thing in golf cart mode. [19:07] FuriousPuffin: I'll do that, but jump off and leave it in the lift [19:07] jackendavoxgsf: Sarah shrugs "Like I said, I shrugged it off. I've been trained for this sort of thing. And I've had... extensive experience." [19:08] FrankTrollman: You can even drive it into the airlock and out the other side to where the explosion happened. [19:08] FrankTrollman: But driving it farther involves Dukes of Hazard stylings. [19:08] jackendavoxgsf: (continued messages): "So what else did your assensing show up? Aside from the fact that there isn't a whole lot of me actually here anymore." [19:09] jackendavoxgsf: I'd suggest we take our LPCs. Have to go down ladders anyway. [19:09] jackendavoxgsf: That is, leather personel carriers... pat and charlie... or otherwise, our legs. [19:09] 366425001: Msg@Sarah: "Not much. I don't go around trying to read people like a book unless they've been stuck in other plains surrounded by insect like astral entities and blacked out for a while." [19:09] 366425001: Planes* [19:10] FuriousPuffin: Happy to work. [19:10] FuriousPuffin: *walk [19:11] jackendavoxgsf: @Reply "I never blacked out. There was a time distortion - my internal clock still has a time difference, so unless I was dead for ten minutes without losing consciousness, it was a time distortion." [19:11] FuriousPuffin: I'll get all the computer cameras for this area that are left post blast and do a quick scan for hostiles. [19:11] kzt4dumpshock: The crashcart at the top of the strairs might be very useful. [19:11] jackendavoxgsf: I'll take point [19:11] kzt4dumpshock: Be ready when the elevator opens. [19:12] jackendavoxgsf: No drek [19:12] narsetantalus: pistol at the ready [19:12] FrankTrollman: Well, while you're going down, it's playing some classical music, which in this case is Run DMC. [19:12] jackendavoxgsf: "I'm still expecting us to find spider almost-spirits somewhere. I'm nearly certain they went through the gate." [19:13] kzt4dumpshock: That's why I think we have to clear all the way to the gate. [19:13] FrankTrollman: The elevator gets to the bottom, and opens. [19:13] FrankTrollman: The work room has been trashed. [19:13] jackendavoxgsf: "I couldn't secure the area properly last time... I was too busy running and hoping I didn't suffocate before I got to the airlock" [19:13] FuriousPuffin: From the blast? [19:14] FrankTrollman: Someone has cut all the Oxygen tank valves. [19:14] FrankTrollman: This is actually on the inside of an air lock from the blast site. [19:14] FuriousPuffin: Fun. [19:14] jackendavoxgsf: "Drek... either the naga or Shark." [19:14] kzt4dumpshock: Nice. [19:14] jackendavoxgsf: "This wasn't like this before." [19:14] FuriousPuffin: "The naga is dead." [19:14] jackendavoxgsf: "Are you certain about that?" [19:14] narsetantalus: OOC: when did that happen? [19:14] kzt4dumpshock: Send the flyspy out to look around the room [19:14] FuriousPuffin: "Blast that took out my drones at meters range is going to have blasted him to salsa at point blank." [19:14] narsetantalus: Juichi looks surprised [19:14] jackendavoxgsf: "It happened after I got back." [19:15] 366425001: (I'm with you guys right, or did you dump me off somewhere when I got disconnected? I was mostly msging sarah not to bring it up in front of everyone and undermine her.. well, more than I already was.) [19:15] FuriousPuffin: "Unless he is the luckiest sun of a bitch to ever breath." [19:15] 366425001: (I could just be changing depending on what happened) [19:15] jackendavoxgsf: Yeah, you're with us [19:15] 366425001: (alrighty) [19:15] kzt4dumpshock: Huh? The blast was after you were back? [19:15] FuriousPuffin: Naga lost his temper with the hostage situation, and cut Ayumi [19:15] jackendavoxgsf: "Well, speaking from experience, you'd be surprised what you can live through." [19:15] FuriousPuffin: then there was an explosion that turned my drones into scrap metal. [19:16] 366425001: "Some people have the devil's own luck." [19:16] jackendavoxgsf: "No, not the blast, the sabotage on the airtanks." [19:16] FuriousPuffin: "True, true, but if I had to bet, I'd say the walking corpse is a more likely prognosis." [19:16] FuriousPuffin: Still, does the drone and cameras show anything lurking outside the door? [19:16] jackendavoxgsf: "fortunately we all have our own supplies at the moment." [19:16] kzt4dumpshock: Ok, does the flyspy or astral look around see anything interesting? [19:17] 366425001: "I took a shot in the face from Godzilla and Akio got attacked by space lobsters, so I'm willing to say stranger things have happened." [19:17] FrankTrollman: You guys have your own air tanks, so you're OK as far as that goes. [19:17] kzt4dumpshock: Look for tripwires too.... [19:17] jackendavoxgsf: "I'll take point." [19:17] jackendavoxgsf: I'm looking for anything in range of my radar that shouldn't be there - trip wires, traps, devil rats, giant lobster magnets, etc [19:19] FrankTrollman: Well, when the air in there cycles and the lock uncocks, you are faced with the area graced by the explosion from before. [19:19] kzt4dumpshock: Do we see drone parts? [19:19] jackendavoxgsf: Now that i have a moment and am not suffocating, I'd like to look for Naga bits. [19:20] FrankTrollman: Now that you are looking for them, no you don't. [19:20] 366425001: I assume my mana static spell would have had to be made permanent by now, right? [19:21] FrankTrollman: Those of you who get 5+ hits on a Visual perception test can spot the devil rats. [19:21] 366425001: I mean, the thing's been fun, and I'd like to keep it forever, but I find that to be rather unrealistic. [19:21] jackendavoxgsf: "A pack of smokes says that the trid feed was a fake, and the Naga went after Ljudomir." [19:21] FrankTrollman: Pretty much, yeah, it is gone. [19:22] 366425001: Too bad, the thing was like carrying around a sack full of awesome. [19:22] kzt4dumpshock: Ok, where could the drones be then? [19:22] jackendavoxgsf: Five successes on the nose on visual perception. Are the rats acting funny again? [19:22] narsetantalus: 6 hits on visual perception [19:22] kzt4dumpshock: Not me.... [19:23] FrankTrollman: Well, Juichi sees the devil rats. [19:23] 366425001: Lemme check. I forgot how many visual dice I throw again. [19:23] 366425001: I know it's a stupidly high number though. [19:23] FuriousPuffin: 3 hits. [19:23] FuriousPuffin: Again juchi sees the things we don't ;) [19:23] FrankTrollman: There are three of them. They are stacking little pebbles. [19:23] 366425001: 6 hits [19:24] narsetantalus: seriously? [19:24] 366425001: They could have been trained, they're fairly smart and the doctor had one as a pet [19:24] kzt4dumpshock: Could you assense them? [19:24] jackendavoxgsf: I see them with five hits, right? [19:24] FrankTrollman: (Link: http://bestuff.com/images/images_of_stuff/...s-rat-12442.jpg [19:24] FrankTrollman: Yep. [19:25] narsetantalus: The current conditions could be described as inhospitable though, right? (I am refering to temperature and pressure) [19:25] 366425001: anyway, yeah, I'll assense, although I doubt it will turn up much; it's normal for devil rats to show up as magically active. [19:25] jackendavoxgsf: Sarah slowly slings her AR and brings out her shotgun, set for wide choke and burst fire. [19:25] 366425001: 3 hits [19:25] FuriousPuffin: I understood you could do shirtsleeve with a scubtank. [19:25] FuriousPuffin: this bit is has a pressurized atmosphere, just its N2 not 02 so actual breathing is an issue. [19:26] FrankTrollman: Pressure is not bad, temperature is 3 degrees, and it's a nitrogen atmosphere. [19:26] 366425001: msg@all "Shouldn't really be necessary, they've backed off everytime we've ran into them before. They're scavengers, after all." [19:26] kzt4dumpshock: Check the atmosphere tester to see if it is really N2. [19:26] narsetantalus: (OOC: Kinda funny how we're getting almost freaked out by devil rats at this point) [19:26] jackendavoxgsf: Mentally via comms "I'm going to blow them to hell unless someone objects, but there should be at least three more if I'm not mistaken" [19:27] FuriousPuffin: @Sarah: When I came down to deal with the naga when this shit all started, there where more than 6. I don't see any reson to shoot at this stage [19:27] jackendavoxgsf: "I don't like it, they shouldn't be here, could be possessed or some such, and how the frag are they breathing an unbreathable atmo." [19:27] narsetantalus: "Can you try to do it in such a way that it doesn't cause an overly large mess/" [19:27] narsetantalus: thats suposed to be a '?' instead of a '/' [19:27] FuriousPuffin: "They are from this world though, not *that one* [19:27] jackendavoxgsf: "So was Shark" [19:28] 366425001: I'm switching to astral perception. [19:28] jackendavoxgsf: "And I've been thinking... how did Shark get infected, hmm? He wasn't research team... he wasn't even cleared for the terminal research area." [19:28] FrankTrollman: The rats look at you. [19:28] FuriousPuffin: "True, but maybe as the result of to many bad trid's I expect zombies to try and kill me. These little guys are pilling up *rocks*. That makes me curious. It's certainly not normal. It is definately a clue" [19:29] FuriousPuffin: Reginn looks back levelly at the rats. [19:29] kzt4dumpshock: There are a dozen rats IIRC. [19:29] narsetantalus: "a Clue?! a clue for what??" [19:29] FrankTrollman: (Link: http://www.ratspacnw.org/images/hairless.j...es/hairless.jpg [19:29] 366425001: I'll assense them, see if there's anything unusual I can detect. I get 3 hits [19:29] kzt4dumpshock: The atmosphere is really N2 per the tester? [19:30] FuriousPuffin: "Exactly what the *fuck* is happening. This is some sort of magical event, they are magical, strange behaviour in magical creatures is probably caused by the magical event" [19:30] 366425001: "If you guys really care I can try and track life in the station and try and find the rest of them." [19:30] 366425001: "It shouldn't be hard, and I can quickly tail them on the astral if I have to once I know the general area." [19:30] FrankTrollman: It's a paracritter of course, it has a Magic if 3. [19:30] FuriousPuffin: Yeah, I'm going to check my atmo scanner. [19:31] FrankTrollman: It's very upset. [19:31] FrankTrollman: And fatigued. [19:31] kzt4dumpshock: An unhappy devil rat... [19:31] narsetantalus: The atmo scanner? [19:31] FuriousPuffin: "You cannot read the things mind can you?" [19:31] 366425001: "The li'l buggers are upset and tired, but considering animals generally aren't stupid and they're in a weird atmospheric conditions I"m not exactly surprised." [19:31] 366425001: "No. I get vibes." [19:31] FrankTrollman: The atmo scanner doesn't get fatigued particlarly. [19:32] FrankTrollman: Looks like there is some sulphur contamination in the N2. [19:32] narsetantalus: sorry about that misunderstanding, but stranger things have happened. [19:32] 366425001: "I can actually come sort of close sometimes to reading minds... but it's not as fun a party trick as you'd think. It's kind of tough to live with, actually." [19:33] kzt4dumpshock: So no oxygen, but ok devil rats. Hmm. [19:33] FuriousPuffin: "Even the vibes might give a peice of infomation on why rats are trying to make something out of rocks. Are they making something? I'm going to take a look, cover me" [19:33] narsetantalus: Thinking: Shit I hope he hasn't used that on me. OH crap these thoughts are incrinating! [19:33] narsetantalus: *incriminating [19:33] jackendavoxgsf: "Alright, lets move. So long as they aren't possessed I don't care." [19:34] FuriousPuffin: I'll let the gun drop on it's shoulder strap, hold my hands out and down in the least threatening way I can think of, then try and see what they are building? [19:34] narsetantalus: I am covering him w/ the gyrojet pistol [19:34] kzt4dumpshock: I'll cover him with a foce 8 powerball. Ok, maybe not... [19:34] 366425001: "Fair enough. The naga was "painting" somewhere around here earlier as well, wasn't he Reg?" [19:35] FrankTrollman: Looks like aprimitive jenga game - the pebbles are really unsteady, and about 9 pieces high. [19:35] narsetantalus: OK..... [19:35] FuriousPuffin: Rats don;t seem to care? [19:35] FrankTrollman: As you come closer, your weight flexes the floor and it falls over. [19:35] FuriousPuffin: Whoops. [19:35] FrankTrollman: The rats scurry away at that point. [19:36] kzt4dumpshock: I though we were on bedrock? [19:36] jackendavoxgsf: Alright, lets get down to the gate room. [19:36] jackendavoxgsf: I beleive we were on the catwalk. [19:36] FrankTrollman: This is a metal platform, there is a ladder down to bedrock. [19:36] FuriousPuffin: Nah, we are on a cat walk, it sort of drops down into passages (from previous descriptions) [19:36] narsetantalus: gotcha [19:36] kzt4dumpshock: Ok. [19:36] FrankTrollman: You can do a little turn on the catwalk. [19:36] FuriousPuffin: I'll get both hands on the gun, then follow up Scope. [19:36] FuriousPuffin: Sarah. [19:36] FrankTrollman: Because you're too sexy for all shirts. [19:38] FrankTrollman: Getting down to the gate, it looks like fragments of metal and plastic were flying all over the place in here, sticking into rock and stuff. [19:38] 366425001: "Bad thought..." [19:38] 366425001: "What if those pebbles are fragments of the tablet?" [19:38] jackendavoxgsf: "Weird" [19:38] kzt4dumpshock: Sticking in rock... [19:39] FrankTrollman: Sarah, make a visual perception test. [19:39] jackendavoxgsf: "Actually, I wonder... this could be shrapnel from when I blew my airtank to cover my retreat" [19:39] FrankTrollman: Yep. [19:39] jackendavoxgsf: "It didn't follow me through at first... must have been the time difference between the planes." [19:39] FrankTrollman: Once you know what you're looking for, this is in fact your air tank fragments. [19:40] kzt4dumpshock: I'll leave a flyspy at the top of the ladder to cover us. There is no where else this goes? [19:40] jackendavoxgsf: "Good to know. So if we do get down to our last resort, we'll want to try to evacuate the facility first." [19:41] 366425001: I want to look for as many of the fragments of the tablet as I can. [19:41] FrankTrollman: Oh, there are some other niches. [19:42] FrankTrollman: Other things are being dug up. [19:42] FuriousPuffin: I'll look for tha tablet too.. What happened to whoever was hanging upside down here? [19:42] FrankTrollman: It's the base of a crevasse which is covered with rock. [19:42] FuriousPuffin: I was not here for that session [19:42] FrankTrollman: She was left there, but now she is gone. [19:43] FuriousPuffin: shit. [19:43] jackendavoxgsf: I'm going to pull up my recording of when I shot the tablet and go to were the peices fell since I was recording and have radar. [19:43] kzt4dumpshock: I'm going to have a fly-spy check out any other niches [19:43] jackendavoxgsf: "I thought that you took care of her!" [19:44] FuriousPuffin: *blames whipstitch for everything ;) [19:44] FrankTrollman: At the time, they were carrying out Kurchek in a plstic bag. [19:44] 366425001: "I was busy. That was about the same time there was an explosion up top and virtually nobody was responding to communications. That and the mission critical staff I had in my hands." [19:44] FrankTrollman: And this is the first time people came back. [19:45] FuriousPuffin: *grins* [19:45] FuriousPuffin: life goes on. [19:45] 366425001: "And I'm pretty sure Ljubo told my brain to eat itself." [19:45] jackendavoxgsf: "Its alright. You lose people in war." [19:45] FuriousPuffin: "Lets get that tablet." [19:45] jackendavoxgsf: Can I find the peices after going over the recording? [19:46] FrankTrollman: Some of them. [19:47] jackendavoxgsf: I'll hand off the ones I have to Mr. Shazaam the man with the fix spell. [19:47] kzt4dumpshock: We can scoop up everything and use fix to select the ones that are part of hte tablet? [19:47] 366425001: <-- the fun thing about being mr. Shazaam is that it seems I am both the cause of and the solution to most of our problems. [19:47] FrankTrollman: With sufficient hits on a fix test, sure. [19:48] jackendavoxgsf: As an aside, is the gate bigger than the last time I saw it? [19:48] kzt4dumpshock: Hey, how about putting a mana static spell on the gate? [19:48] FrankTrollman: Same size. [19:48] 366425001: Lemme see... it goes Fix-> then normal repairs, right? the opposite of heal tests, correct? [19:48] FrankTrollman: Correct. [19:48] 366425001: Honest? I'd rather not unless something comes through. [19:49] 366425001: The spell is Force/2+4 DV you know. [19:49] 366425001: It looks easy when you have Edge. [19:49] kzt4dumpshock: Ouch. [19:49] kzt4dumpshock: Well, stun is easily fixable... With time. [19:49] 366425001: It's more predictable than spirits but it's not fun. [19:50] 366425001: I really wouldn't have pulled it out if i didn't think shedim were after my nikes. [19:50] FrankTrollman: They were as it happens. [19:50] kzt4dumpshock: I'll assense the gate. [19:50] jackendavoxgsf: ROFL [19:51] narsetantalus: It would have been trouble some to have to shoot your body [19:51] kzt4dumpshock: A good choice. That spell has really been effective twice. [19:51] 366425001: Yeah. Like I said, I dislike spending Edge, but when you blow away 2 shedim and cripple Godzilla in one day without taking any damage, you live with it. ; ) [19:51] jackendavoxgsf: Yeah, that would have been bad - but I have a pistol full of gel rounds for such occassions [19:51] kzt4dumpshock: Stunbolts... [19:51] narsetantalus: I don't [19:51] 366425001: The shedim rules are kind of iffy when it comes to getting your shoes back though :-( [19:52] 366425001: I like the ounce of prevention option in this case. [19:52] FuriousPuffin: I have the seize power, but they may, or may not work on possessed bodies! [19:52] narsetantalus: I suppose I could try just knock him out with my gauntleted fists though [19:52] jackendavoxgsf: Moot point at any rate [19:53] FrankTrollman: Heh. What force are you casting the fix at? [19:53] kzt4dumpshock: Anyhow, 3 success on assensing the gate area. [19:54] jackendavoxgsf: Lets try and put this tablet together and figure out our next move. I'm tempted to go bowie-hunting again though - he and the lady that the Naga held hostage are both at large and part of Kurchek's legion of doom. [19:54] 366425001: One sec, I seem to have forgotten to jot down Fix's drain code on my cheat sheet. [19:54] 366425001: Usually i'm better about that. [19:54] FrankTrollman: The gate is an astral gateway, unsurprisingly enough. [19:54] jackendavoxgsf: They could be completing the ritual on the other side, so even if we do things Reginn's way, we'd be cometing with them - which could be bad. [19:55] FrankTrollman: Touching it makes you astrally perceive. [19:55] 366425001: eh, only plus 1 drain code... [19:55] 366425001: I'm unlikely to get more than 4 or 5 hits though on the outside, so I'll go with force 5 Fix. [19:55] FrankTrollman: K [19:55] 366425001: I won't put it together entirely, i imagine, but it's a start. [19:55] 366425001: Fuck. [19:55] 366425001: I got 7 hits. [19:55] 366425001: which is like both awesome and bad at once. [19:56] FrankTrollman: That's awesome. [19:56] 366425001: I would have killed for those extra hits. [19:56] jackendavoxgsf: OOC thinking: (I'm wondering if the bit with the spiders and stuff was because Sarah was astrally perceiving on the other side of the gate?) [19:56] 366425001: I totally would have cast at force 7 for that, lol [19:56] FrankTrollman: Well, the memories of the past persist into the future in form as well as memory apparently. [19:56] 366425001: I swear I roll that good only when I've limited force or are searching for dennies on with a Search program. [19:57] FrankTrollman: Also, the tablet is much restored. [19:57] FrankTrollman: Or rather, the left side of it is. [19:57] FrankTrollman: There are markings on it. [19:57] kzt4dumpshock: The left side? [19:57] 366425001: 4 hits on my drain test, I'm good. [19:58] 366425001: There's probably a right side that the bad guys have... [19:58] jackendavoxgsf: "I did put three bullets in the thing I will point out. Not surprising its hard to put back together." [19:59] kzt4dumpshock: Next time you get the urge to point you gun at someone holding a magical tool, aim it at his face, ok? [19:59] jackendavoxgsf: "No doubt that one of the two missing members of Kurchek's team returned and salvaged the other part of the tablet." [19:59] FrankTrollman: Kind of like this: [19:59] FrankTrollman: (Link: http://www.lexiline.com/lexiline/hittitwr....ne/hittitwr.gif [19:59] 366425001: No kidding. THey may have foci we can loot and we can find other mages ; ) [20:00] 366425001: "I wonder if they can do the same trick I pulled..." [20:00] jackendavoxgsf: "I never intended to destroy the tablet, I was aiming at it and about to make a threat - use it as leverage. However, gunfire broke out and I reacted." [20:00] 366425001: "If they can, they may not have cared about this side of the tablet at all." [20:00] 366425001: "If they can't, they may have cared about the tablet and would greatly appreciate me fixing it and bringing it through with us if we go in." [20:01] 366425001: "Which I'm guessing would be bad." [20:01] FuriousPuffin: "The real question is, who can we get to read this? [20:01] FrankTrollman: Well, there's a linguist upstairs. [20:01] FuriousPuffin: I'm thinking our japanese doctor may be able to do that. [20:01] 366425001: "We have Kurchek upstairs." [20:01] FrankTrollman: Also Kurchek seems to be able to read it yeah. [20:02] 366425001: "It's dangerous, and frankly, not something I'm proud of, but I can probably make him read it." [20:02] FuriousPuffin: "On the balance, you know, I'd rather not give the kurchek the magical tablet he needs to complete his spoken word ritual and ask him to read it to me" [20:02] jackendavoxgsf: "I believe we should return to the cafe and deposit the tablet there with someone who can decipher it for us. Then we collect our battle rattle and roll out to deal with the traitors and possibly retrieve the other half." [20:02] FrankTrollman: But it's nigh 4 oclock over here, and I need to go to sleep nowish. [20:02] jackendavoxgsf: "We don't want it read out loud. I [20:02] jackendavoxgsf: 've seen that trideo damn it." [20:03] FuriousPuffin: Reginn laughs. [20:03] FrankTrollman: Evil Dead 1 or 2? [20:03] jackendavoxgsf: All the evil dead movies, army of darkness, and the Mummy. [20:03] FuriousPuffin: "It was a joke in poor taste, but I'd rather we go for an unconfirmed hostile as the translator rather than a definate bad guy." [20:03] jackendavoxgsf: All of them, reading it outloud is BAD. [20:03] kzt4dumpshock: 4am. Aiko also is running out of time to be active. [20:04] 366425001: Agreed. I had fun, so no regrets packing it in. It has been like 7 hours, after all. [20:04] FuriousPuffin: 'Lets hit the road" and the sack. [20:04] narsetantalus: seconded [20:04] kzt4dumpshock: So I'd like to try to get soem downtime before we change through. [20:04] FrankTrollman: I'll catch y'all next week. [20:04] jackendavoxgsf: Alright, lets sign off this session with us returning to the cafe to lick our wounds and prepare for next time. [20:04] jackendavoxgsf: Had lots of fun Frank :) [20:04] narsetantalus: sure thing [20:04] narsetantalus: ditto that [20:04] FrankTrollman: Night [20:04] *** FrankTrollman has left the chat. |

There isn;t 30 minutes. We started late as both yourself and whipstich where late. Here's what you've missed
[ Spoiler ] (7:19:24 AM) Frank Trollman entered the room. (7:19:24 AM) Narse entered the room. (7:19:24 AM) Cthulhu entered the room. (7:19:45 AM) Frank Trollman: Rar! (7:20:30 AM) Cthulhu: scope failing at acceptingthe invite? (7:20:48 AM) Frank Trollman: Not sure. (7:21:46 AM) Scope_47 entered the room. (7:22:01 AM) Scope_47: Hello all (7:22:40 AM) Cthulhu: good morning (7:22:41 AM) Narse: good Morning/Evening/Afternoon/Night (7:24:18 AM) Frank Trollman: Howdy. (7:24:42 AM) Frank Trollman: We start things with a lovely cinematic shot of Mars, gradually rotating in the void, the camera centers and zooms into the Hellas Planitia crater. (7:24:44 AM) Frank Trollman: At 2300 kilometers in diameter its presence dominates its section of the world. The camera descends through the ice mists which obscure the insides of the crater in modern times, and then skips directly to the café. (7:25:21 AM) Frank Trollman: Currently, Belfast has busted out the Ginn, and is making Churchill MArtinis. (7:25:49 AM) Frank Trollman: That's where it's so dry that you just point it at the place where they invented Vermouth. (7:25:55 AM) Frank Trollman: Which is Earth in this case. (7:27:11 AM) Cthulhu: *laughs* (7:28:03 AM) Scope_47: As I recall Sarah is currently in the hallway where Shark's body's last known location was... and she is very unhappy that it isn't there. (7:28:18 AM) Frank Trollman: I sent Whipstitch an invite, but that never works. (7:28:33 AM) Whipstitch entered the room. (7:28:41 AM) Frank Trollman: Ah excellent. (7:28:46 AM) Whipstitch: There we go. (7:29:04 AM) Whipstitch: Hopefully my ISP can hold things together for longer than hour or two for once. (7:29:20 AM) Frank Trollman: That would be fantastic. (7:29:34 AM) Frank Trollman: They were just enjoying Churchill Martinis. (7:29:40 AM) Whipstitch: Hopefully they'll go out of business and lose another class action lawsuit : P (7:29:54 AM) Frank Trollman: Because they had Ginn and no Vermouth. (7:29:57 AM) Kzt entered the room. (7:30:52 AM) Cthulhu: the full complement. Excellent. (7:31:18 AM) Kzt: OOC:Sorry, had to get a perscription and I oersplep, so I was late (7:31:30 AM) Narse: isn't Catharz Godfoot missing? (7:32:02 AM) Scope_47: No problemo, you haven't actually missed anything other than Belfast making martinis (7:32:59 AM) Whipstitch: cool. (7:33:04 AM) Cthulhu: and by making martinis, she means pouring gin into a pitcher, then calling it a martini to maintain a veneer of refinement ;) |

This session was kind of ugly.
We decided it was time to figure out where the 12L/minute leak was. I also have the computer pressurize communications to 5 KPa. The computer offered suggestions of Dr. Yamato's bathroom, the vehicle cleaninig facility or Water Aeration unit 2. We decided to go check them out. The Dr's shower was running a bit, but not 12 L/minute. We then went up to the Vehicle Cleaning Facility, where we found it was full of toxic and caustic oil outgassing chorine. We didn't go in the room when this started to fill the airlock. We backed out and looked more carefully, finding it was background count 2. So Carden astrally sneaks in and finds that we have a little Gorgon nesting in our lifter. This seemed bad. But we figured, how tough could it be? So we run in astrally to take it down. It takes some damage (from Carden - I get nothing), summons a spirt and it generally is about to kick our ass when we boogie. The summon spirit part was NOT in our script. It then starts to depressurize the entire base. So we go to plan B. Plan B involves the heavy combat drones. Reginn deploys an assault T-bird. We get the computer to crank open the roof the VCF. Using only the secondary weapons he manages to fry it with an anti-armor laser. It also destroys what is left of the lifter, but it was already pretty trashed. Drone takes some minor damage from lightning bolts. Spirit apparently vanishes. We close the roof back up and head down to the water aeration plant. The door is locked and the maglock is dead. I poke in astally and see an awakened anenome hanging on the wall of the mostly full of water room. With an alchera trying to form. We decide to drain the room. This works fine except for the mini-anenomes that we notice running into the drain... I tell the computer there is a biocontaminate in the drain and stop the flow. We talk to Michelle Wan and she is not happy. We decide that we need to do something and then we end the session without actually putting together a plan. |

Yeah, the inital plan was 'drill a hole in the door, draining the room, then shoot the big anenome in a big way' but the mini anenome thing is a major downer to that strategy - but the door still has holes in it.

I've got a cart of tools, parts and supplies to fix leaks with and 9 dice of plumber iirc. It's only 5 feet or so of water. It might not be totally water tight long term, but it doesn't need to be.

I got disconnected a few times so this log is not entirely complete.
Part 1: [ Spoiler ] (11:31:39 AM) Frank Trollman: So when last we left our intrepid adventurers, they had half a tablet.
(11:32:06 AM) kzt: and half is better than none.... (11:34:34 AM) Frank Trollman: Indeedy do. But the question next was: what are you doing with it? (11:34:56 AM) Frank Trollman: Suggestions included hiding it, or making the liguist translate it for you. (11:35:08 AM) Frank Trollman: Or going off and checking out that water leak. (11:35:21 AM) kzt: I think the plan was to verify that the termial area was clear of people then pull back up to the cafe. (11:35:53 AM) kzt: Then have soemone translate it (if possible) while we look at the water and comm issues. (11:35:55 AM) Whipstitch: As for the tablet itself, I'm thinking I should probably try assensing it, first off; I'm curious to see if it's just got information or if it's bound or has any sort of other astral link. (11:35:58 AM) Frank Trollman: Going about that with a detect life, a find mind, or just good old fashioned looking? (11:36:24 AM) kzt: We should proabably leave soem surprises behind at the gate for unexpected vistors... (11:36:29 AM) Frank Trollman: Assensing is within your capabilities. (11:36:59 AM) Whipstitch: 3 hits on the assensing test. (11:37:09 AM) Scope_47: My suggestion is that we drop the tablet off with the linguist and then go traitor-hunting to see if we can find the other half of the tablet. (11:37:31 AM) Whipstitch: Perhaps; the water situation is probably well past due though. (11:37:37 AM) Frank Trollman: The tablet is very sad. (11:38:02 AM) Frank Trollman: Also it has been used in conjuring magic somehow. A lot. (11:39:17 AM) kzt: Sad... That's an interesting way to phrase it. (11:39:21 AM) Frank Trollman: So off to see the wizard? (11:39:45 AM) kzt: Do was have soemwhere to lock the tablet up? (11:40:28 AM) kzt: Or do we have a linguist ? (11:40:30 AM) Whipstitch: We could probably keep it in my quarters/lodge, although that won't really provide much in the way of physical security. (11:40:53 AM) Frank Trollman: There are various kinds of lockers all over the station. (11:41:13 AM) Whipstitch: We can see if Kiira's awake and communicate with her via AR and the 'trix so she could translate it for us if it turns out she's got the know how. (11:41:14 AM) Frank Trollman: Practically everything has a maglock and most of it can be made air tight. For obvious reasons. (11:41:38 AM) Cthuludreams: The japanese doctor in the cafe can probably translate it too. One of them definately can. (11:42:32 AM) Whipstitch: Ah, I guess i meant neela. My bad. (11:42:42 AM) Whipstitch: But yeah, she's still an option provided she's conscious. (11:42:52 AM) Frank Trollman: I figured you were shortening Amirthakaii. (11:45:30 AM) Frank Trollman: It occurs to me that Evo is a Russian corporation, meaning that they also have balls. (11:45:44 AM) Cthuludreams: ? (11:45:46 AM) Frank Trollman: There's probably one scheduled for pretty soon. (11:45:59 AM) Cthuludreams: One what/ (11:46:05 AM) Narse: Oh...., totally misinterpreted that (11:46:08 AM) kzt: This seems like a bad time to plan one.... (11:46:18 AM) Frank Trollman: It's good for morale. (11:46:25 AM) Cthuludreams: Oh right. (11:46:36 AM) Frank Trollman: Also... Macarena. (11:46:48 AM) kzt: LOL (11:46:53 AM) Frank Trollman: It's classical music now. (11:46:59 AM) Narse: I thought you were just implying that the japanese megas don't have balls. (11:48:13 AM) Cthuludreams: rather than dances (11:48:19 AM) Narse: Which is potentially just a valid interpretation of the salaryman subservience to their corps every whim... (11:48:20 AM) Whipstitch: A ball would be kind of funny though; I want to see Juichi and Leila as dance partners. (11:48:40 AM) Narse: Lelia.... which one is that again? (11:48:47 AM) Whipstitch: The troll security guard ; ) (11:48:52 AM) Frank Trollman: Ortmeyer, she's a security troll. (11:49:00 AM) Narse: Ah yes (11:49:27 AM) Whipstitch: She steps on your foot and we'll have to test the limits of modern medicine. (11:49:42 AM) kzt: If she tosses you into the air it adds another meaning to hang time.... (11:49:49 AM) Frank Trollman: The Slavic countries still dance to Bony M today, no reason to believe that would have stopped. (11:49:58 AM) Scope_47: And everyone knows that security trolls are must better than security guards ;) (11:50:12 AM) Scope_47: Especially if they are securing a bridge :) (11:52:06 AM) Frank Trollman: Anyways, food for thought. In the meantime there have been floated plans to go check out the water system with Michelle and without her? (11:52:07 AM) kzt left the room. (11:52:19 AM) kzt entered the room. (11:52:46 AM) Frank Trollman: And to keep the tablet secret and to give it to Amirthakaii. (11:52:55 AM) Whipstitch: "Computer, how dire is the water situation?" (11:53:04 AM) Frank Trollman: Both valid options in either case. Opinions? (11:53:31 AM) Narse: well, Sure, I'm all for any plan of action (in this case they aren't mutually exclusive either) (11:53:36 AM) Frank Trollman: THE BASE IS LOSING APPROXIMATELY 12 LITERS EVERY MINUTE (11:53:45 AM) kzt: That's bad. (11:54:13 AM) Whipstitch: "What'd be the ETA to no longer being able to hold out 'till the next resupply?" (11:54:20 AM) kzt: I doubt it's going anywhere unless someone is pumping it out the airloacks... (11:54:52 AM) Frank Trollman: PLEASE DEFINE RATIONING PARAMETERS (11:54:54 AM) kzt: But it has to be accumulating somewhere we don't want it. (11:55:25 AM) Cthuludreams: At a level were we can still have a shower, but a short one? (11:55:26 AM) Scope_47: It could be being evaporated by a fire spirit or some such - like the reactor was being messed with by a radiation spirit (11:56:07 AM) Frank Trollman: AT VOLUNTARY LEVEL 2 RATIONING WE WILL BE UNABLE TO MAINTAIN UNTIL NEXT RESUPPLY IN 36 HOURS (11:56:17 AM) kzt: Ok, lets go look at this. Now. (11:56:21 AM) Whipstitch: Agreed. (11:56:24 AM) Narse: "" (11:56:33 AM) Narse: "I volunteer" (11:56:58 AM) kzt: Computer, can the communications room hold pressure now? (11:57:02 AM) Cthuludreams: I'll take the tablet to the doctor then and meet you there? I need to collect my gun drones from the airlock as well. (11:57:45 AM) Frank Trollman: THE COMMUNICATION ROOM IS AT CONSTANT PRESSURE WITHIN ITS CONTAINMENT AREA (11:58:22 AM) kzt: That pressure is? (11:58:45 AM) Frank Trollman: The pressure was last set at a couple hundred pascals. (11:59:22 AM) kzt: Ok, can it try to raise it to 5 Kpa? (12:01:22 PM) Frank Trollman: THAT IS ACCEPTABLE (12:01:56 PM) kzt: If it holds that pressure for 10 minutes please contact me. (12:02:05 PM) Frank Trollman: After a brief moment the pressure rises in the cordoned area and it rises to 5 KPa (12:02:35 PM) kzt: Ok, so we'll see if it holds that while we look into the the water.... (12:04:14 PM) kzt: So I'll get the cart of parts and tools and toodle off to go look inot this. But first (12:04:18 PM) Frank Trollman: Water pressure is dropping irreularly. Indicating that the flow is being determined by something other than the water system itself. (12:04:32 PM) Narse: ...great... (12:04:43 PM) kzt: Computer, where is the likely area of the actual leak? (12:06:41 PM) Frank Trollman: HABITAT ROOM 34C, WATER AERATION UNIT 2, OR THE VEHICLE CLEANING FACILITY (12:07:27 PM) Frank Trollman: Habitat Room 34C is Dr. Yamato's bathroom. (12:07:59 PM) kzt: Ok, that sounds promising... (12:09:08 PM) Frank Trollman: The water aeration unit is an interchange between the ar and water recycling system to keep the water from developing anaerobism and the air from becoming painfully low in humidity. (12:09:29 PM) Frank Trollman: -Air (12:11:16 PM) kzt: Ok, we check the bathroom, the VCF, then the airation unit? bathroom is easy, VCF it could leak outside, so leave the compex one for last? (12:11:45 PM) Whipstitch: Should problably check to see if any of these things could be handled remotely as well. |

Part 2:
*NOTE*: there is a 20 minute gap between this & part 1 [ Spoiler ] 12:31:04 PM) Whipstitch: I got 3 hits on my summoning test.
(12:31:36 PM) Frank Trollman: 4 services, 1 drain. (12:31:42 PM) Narse: So, whats happened since we identified where the potential sources of leaks were? (12:31:59 PM) kzt: Damn, all I get is 5 drain, no services. (12:32:05 PM) Whipstitch: Cool. Damper eats without no roll then. (12:32:22 PM) kzt: We got the doctors shower leak stopped, heading up to the VCF (12:32:24 PM) Frank Trollman: They broke into Dr. Yamato's room and turned his water off. (12:32:39 PM) Frank Trollman: They declined to rifle through his stuff while they were there. (12:32:48 PM) Narse: I see... (12:33:51 PM) kzt: So is there anything intersting awaiting us at the top of the elevaro (per the cameras)? (12:34:17 PM) Whipstitch: Come to think of it, even if I didn't steal all his reagents it was probably fairly dumb not to poke around a bit. Ah well, I don't really think of my pc as a snoop anyway. (12:34:35 PM) Frank Trollman: Heh. (12:34:50 PM) kzt: me neither (12:35:09 PM) Frank Trollman: The vehicle cleaning facility itself is delineated from the pedestrian areas by a sub air lock. (12:35:24 PM) kzt: So who is going with us? And what drones are we taking? (12:35:25 PM) Frank Trollman: The facility is also pressurized, but it's used as a decon room. (12:35:37 PM) Narse: "I voluteer" (12:35:38 PM) Whipstitch: I'm guessing it's not in company policy to loot other people's dorms the second an emergency hits anyway. (12:36:11 PM) Whipstitch: I'll come with along with my spirit. (12:36:32 PM) Frank Trollman: Not especially no. "Loot the bodies! Evo needs livers!" (12:37:52 PM) kzt: I'll take my lynx with the aplha. So it's us 3? (12:37:55 PM) Frank Trollman: There are tools in lockers on this side of the lock, but most of the tools stay in the facility. (12:38:02 PM) Frank Trollman: Seemingly. (12:38:30 PM) kzt: Ok, if it looks clear we'll head up. (12:38:49 PM) Whipstitch: I'll have Ahnold materialize and hand him the laser rifle and burn a service on being the team bodyguard. I'd prefer for him to use non-lethal powers against actual station personnel unless I tell him otherwise, if that's alright. (12:38:51 PM) Frank Trollman: The doors open slowly and close quickly. Even though no air is being cycled, it's still set up as an air lock. (12:39:55 PM) kzt: Sounds good to me. We really don;t want to kill station people. (12:40:04 PM) kzt: in general... (12:41:20 PM) Frank Trollman: When the inner door opens, black fluid spills over the lip of the doorway. (12:41:31 PM) Narse: great... (12:41:54 PM) kzt: Hmm. use a test set to ID. (12:42:06 PM) Frank Trollman: The place gets a weird thickness in the air when this happens, and the paint on the inside starts yellowing. (12:42:31 PM) kzt: Don't step in it. (12:43:05 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, I'm prepared to use Levitate to keep out of the stuff if need be. (12:43:09 PM) Frank Trollman: Well, not much you can do about that unless you can spiderman on the walls. (12:43:18 PM) Frank Trollman: The Levitate would work. (12:43:30 PM) Narse: (whising I had gecko hands...) (12:43:32 PM) Whipstitch: At least until we know what we're dealing with. (12:43:58 PM) kzt: Well, close the door to stop the goo from spreading, then check what it is and figure out how to clea it. (12:44:03 PM) kzt: clean it. (12:44:19 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, should I cast a Levitate for us now Frank or are we still considered to be clear of it? (12:44:27 PM) Narse: When in doubt... Industrial Grade solvents! (12:44:56 PM) Frank Trollman: Well there are a couple of options. As I understood it you went into the lock and cycled the doors. (12:45:19 PM) Narse: ...so were just screwed (12:45:19 PM) Frank Trollman: If you intended to cycle the doors ahead of time, and watch what happened, that's different. (12:45:31 PM) Narse: *we're (12:45:33 PM) Whipstitch: Well, if we're splashed we're splashed, I wasn't being particularly careful. (12:46:35 PM) kzt: Yup, didn't think of that. (12:47:06 PM) kzt: But I'd close the inner door to stop the stuff. (12:47:17 PM) Cthuludreams: unless you mash the cycle button and hit levitate. (12:48:39 PM) Whipstitch: Eh, the suits buy us a bit of protection against temporary exposure, I would hope, although I think I'll levitate us up out of it until we find out what it is in the mean time. (12:48:45 PM) Frank Trollman: The gun drones of course lack exposed wiring, although it seems to be discoloring the lenses. (12:49:23 PM) Whipstitch: It's just wading around in the stuff I'm not terribly comfortable about. (12:49:27 PM) Narse: any, noticeable effects on us or the suites? (12:49:54 PM) kzt: Get back out of the lock and clean off the drones and ourselves. (12:50:44 PM) Frank Trollman: It gets harder to see from the air effects, and it covers your suit with a film. (12:50:53 PM) Frank Trollman: It's like working at McDonalds. (12:51:07 PM) Cthuludreams: I'd suggest a hose. (12:51:21 PM) Whipstitch: As if we want to go sprayin' water ; ) (12:51:34 PM) Narse: Why don't we just keep soldiering on? (12:52:03 PM) kzt: Becuse I need to keep the drones around. And I don;'t think this is a water leak. (12:52:14 PM) Whipstitch: I'll switch to astral perception and get a look at things. (12:52:29 PM) kzt: It''s something nasty, but not sure what. (12:52:45 PM) Frank Trollman: It's toxic in here. (12:52:50 PM) Whipstitch: well, if you guys have knowledge skills about chemicals and the like you might be able to get an idea of what it is. (12:52:56 PM) Frank Trollman: Backround 2. (12:53:03 PM) Whipstitch: Yay. (12:53:51 PM) Whipstitch: "We've got pollution spooks..." (12:53:56 PM) Whipstitch: "Again." (12:54:53 PM) Narse: 1 hit on a Sanitation Engineering Knowledge check (12:55:06 PM) Narse: If that means I know anything... (12:55:18 PM) kzt: Great. I'm not a chemist. (12:55:50 PM) kzt: Anyhow, I want to get this crap off everything. It looks really nasty. (12:55:55 PM) Frank Trollman: Actually yes. If you mix cleaning fluids you get Chlorine Gas, which accounts for the yellowing. (12:56:13 PM) Frank Trollman: The black fluid is um... stuff. (12:56:30 PM) Narse: so the gas appears to be chlorine gas? (12:56:50 PM) Frank Trollman: Among other things. (12:56:52 PM) Whipstitch: Well, I want my spirit to stay away from the area with the background count and hang basically watch the exit. He's next to worthless in the Toxic area. (12:56:56 PM) Frank Trollman: The film is other stuff. (12:57:01 PM) Whipstitch: that count for a service? (12:57:56 PM) Narse: "Well, esteemed associates, some of this gas appears to be chlorine gas" (12:58:33 PM) Whipstitch: "Any ideas about the goop? Should probably ask the computer, come to think of it. May be able to ventilate the area some." (12:58:48 PM) Whipstitch: "Not that the computer had any idea what was going on with the reactor lizard." (12:58:49 PM) Narse: "No idea." (1:00:02 PM) kzt: Well, we'll wipe the goop off with cleaning rags. (1:01:02 PM) Frank Trollman: In the inside, it appears that the goo gradually crawls up the walls. Or it was about a meter deeper at one point. (1:01:18 PM) kzt: Nice. Note to self, get rid of the cleaning rags.... (1:01:45 PM) Whipstitch: "Computer, are the radiation levels safe in this area?" (1:02:16 PM) Whipstitch: (I hate toxics) (1:02:37 PM) Frank Trollman: THE RADIATION LEVELS IN THAT AREA ARE WITHIN TOLERANCES FOR LIMITED EXPOSURE (1:03:10 PM) Whipstitch: "In other words, we should probably just speed things up. Place isn't healthy in any case." (1:03:15 PM) kzt: Great. Can you mana hose the area? (1:03:35 PM) Whipstitch: With the background that's already in place I'd then be near worthless. (1:03:40 PM) Frank Trollman: Does anyone have mana hose? (1:03:41 PM) Whipstitch: The drain would also be ridiculous. (1:04:03 PM) Narse: There's a mana hose spell? (1:04:13 PM) kzt: No lol (1:04:35 PM) Frank Trollman: You'd need a lvl 3 wizrdcat. (1:04:45 PM) Narse: ? (1:04:53 PM) Whipstitch: It's probably best to just soldier on without the ol' Mana Crutch and hope my counterspelling and a spell or two will do the job. (1:04:59 PM) Frank Trollman: http://icanhascheezburger.files.wordpress....30wizardcat.png (1:05:26 PM) Whipstitch: That's mindblowing. (1:05:40 PM) kzt: So, is the stuff flamable or explosive? (1:05:56 PM) Frank Trollman: You could light it on fire or pressurize it to find out (1:06:06 PM) Whipstitch: Probably rather hard to tell without lighting a match. We got a biomonitor or computer scanner to check it out with? (1:06:26 PM) Frank Trollman: It does outgas continuously, so good chance is that if you kept it in an enclosed space the result would be hilarity. (1:06:51 PM) Frank Trollman: Well, there are chemical scanners in the lockers inside of course. (1:07:10 PM) kzt: I'll check a small sample for flamability. (1:07:22 PM) Whipstitch: I'll let him do that from a safe distance. : P (1:07:37 PM) kzt: I'm wearing this suit... (1:08:27 PM) kzt: Does it do whoof! (1:09:01 PM) Frank Trollman: It goes szzssszzzzz! (1:09:22 PM) kzt: so flamable, but not explosivly? (1:09:38 PM) Frank Trollman: Complete with having little bits make zzizzpop sounds and shooting off in various directions. (1:09:52 PM) kzt: nice. (1:10:02 PM) kzt: Ok, so no fireballs.... (1:10:13 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, Ahnold's definitely hanging back. (1:10:14 PM) Frank Trollman: It's like setting fire to plastic wrap. (1:10:16 PM) Narse: and be careful with that lazer (1:10:33 PM) Whipstitch: I already don't want Ahnold heading in with us to a rating 2 background; he'd be fairly weak anyway. (1:10:46 PM) Whipstitch: Rather have him watch our escape route. (1:10:51 PM) Frank Trollman: Complete with leaving a shrunken and sticky part which is translucent and yellow-brown. (1:11:05 PM) kzt: Nice... (1:11:30 PM) Whipstitch: So fireballs are either liable to get us killed or are rather effective depending on what this stuff is. (1:11:53 PM) kzt: So if we go in using guns we blow the place up, or we go in using magic and are crippled. (1:12:21 PM) kzt: How about we get the air removed? (1:12:58 PM) Whipstitch: If you like. Ventilating it out is probably a necessity in the long run anyway, unless the station's supposed to be filled with chlorine. (1:13:00 PM) Frank Trollman: CONCENTRATIONOF CHLORINEOBSERVED EFFECT (1:13:08 PM) Frank Trollman: 0.06 ppm: Odor threshold.3 ppm: Irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes.15 ppm: Immediate irritation of the throat.50 ppm: A dangerous health hazard, even for shortperiods of time. Prolonged exposure may resultin death. (1:13:08 PM) Whipstitch: Which is generally a no no. (1:13:26 PM) Frank Trollman: That lost its formatting. Ah well. (1:13:50 PM) Narse: I love me my chemseal (1:14:02 PM) kzt: Ok, computer, can we evacuate the vehicle shop to mars standard? (1:14:36 PM) kzt: Also, how about we get a gun drone on the outside to cover this and open the outer doors to the shop? (1:15:36 PM) Frank Trollman: You mean, cycle the air to the low pressure external atmosphere? (1:15:47 PM) kzt: Yes. (1:15:54 PM) Frank Trollman: That can be done. (1:16:03 PM) Frank Trollman: It is considered a safety hazard. (1:16:15 PM) kzt: Why? (1:16:39 PM) Whipstitch: I'm guessing the CC doesn't make much allowances for venting a bunch of chlorine and what amounts to a Toxic domain into Mars proper. (1:17:24 PM) kzt: We had some number of drones on outside patrol, I'd like to get someone to run the remotely as we open the outside garage doors. (1:17:51 PM) kzt: I'll be at magic 2 facing this thing. (1:18:08 PM) Frank Trollman: So you want to hook up your own riggers to the external feed? (1:18:32 PM) kzt: Can we? (1:19:05 PM) Frank Trollman: Sure. (1:19:28 PM) kzt: How are they equiped? (1:20:01 PM) Frank Trollman: You mean the Matrix guys like Jack Chapman or the Puff Daddy? (1:20:15 PM) kzt: (Hmm, eveeryone is going off for lunch or sonething) (1:20:21 PM) kzt: I meant hte external combat drones. (1:21:00 PM) Whipstitch: Scope's probably just wiped out from being sick. (1:21:13 PM) kzt: Yeah... (1:22:14 PM) Frank Trollman: I think actually that they have rocket launchers and flak cannons. (1:22:51 PM) kzt: I'm thinking that maybe we shoudl put this room on the "too hard" pile and go deal with the areation room.... (1:23:24 PM) kzt: There isn't any good eidenace that there is a big water leak here, right? (1:24:17 PM) Frank Trollman: Well, it's not getting any deeper, but there at least was quite a fluid leak here. (1:24:37 PM) Frank Trollman: You're not convinced any of this is water. Feels oilier than that. (1:24:46 PM) kzt: We didn't see any steam or other evidence of water, right? (1:24:57 PM) Whipstitch: To be fair, we've hardly been in there. (1:25:12 PM) kzt: That's why we are alive? (1:25:39 PM) Whipstitch: We don't know that. If you want, you can watch my shoes and I can project in there and see if I can tell if anything's up. (1:25:53 PM) Frank Trollman: Heh. No "steam" using the definition of "steam" as "water vapor" (1:25:56 PM) Whipstitch: We could do that from outside the background count and if all hell breaks loose I can come running back if possible. (1:26:28 PM) Whipstitch: We don't have to fight anything on their own terms yet, as far as we know. (1:26:39 PM) kzt: Ok, I'll cover you if you want to go take a look. I'm just not coninced this is as urgent as the water issue and it looks harder to stop. (1:27:23 PM) Whipstitch: Alright, we'll head on back to the entrance near my Guardian and I'll project from there with kzt on alert for shedim. (1:27:46 PM) Frank Trollman: Make le Assensing Test. (1:27:57 PM) Whipstitch: 2 hits. (1:28:15 PM) kzt: 4 hits (1:28:30 PM) Frank Trollman: There is a life form in the lifter. (1:28:53 PM) Whipstitch: lifter or filter? (1:29:04 PM) Frank Trollman: It's about the size of a moose and it is shaped kind of like a slug, but with more ey stalks. (1:29:20 PM) Frank Trollman: The lifter in the middle of the vehicle cleaning facility. (1:30:02 PM) Narse: can I see this? (1:30:37 PM) kzt: He's astrally projected. (1:30:54 PM) Frank Trollman: It's cut off from view from the door. (1:30:57 PM) Whipstitch: Nice. Now that I've noticed it can I try assensing its aura again directly to get a sense of its power or is that about all I can get? (1:31:32 PM) Frank Trollman: It's a gorgon. (1:31:51 PM) kzt: A what? (1:32:54 PM) Whipstitch: The sr3 critter was fairly mean... (1:33:16 PM) Frank Trollman: Paranormal Animals of Europe, p. 56. (1:34:01 PM) Whipstitch: Had a couple innate spells if I remember. (1:34:07 PM) Frank Trollman: This one is small, only 4 meters in length. (1:34:09 PM) Whipstitch: Dunno if Carden would strictly know that, but he does have some zoology skill. (1:34:19 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, he is a "little" one hten. |

Part 3: Note: 9 min disconnection. [ Spoiler ] (1:43:42 PM) Frank Trollman: Fabelhaft.
(1:43:59 PM) Narse: sorry, I switched to a more stable network (1:44:16 PM) kzt: Via the asteal gate. like everything else. (1:45:07 PM) Frank Trollman: But it's small for a gorgon. (1:45:29 PM) Whipstitch: I suppose there's no reason I couldn't have potentially missed its mother. (1:45:31 PM) Frank Trollman: Meanwhile, downstairs in the cafeteria. (1:46:05 PM) Frank Trollman: Neela is still incabale of talking. (1:46:14 PM) Frank Trollman: Her mouth is clamped shut. (1:46:31 PM) Frank Trollman: With in this case, an actual clamp (1:47:12 PM) Cthuludreams: Does she have a DNI? (1:47:22 PM) Cthuludreams: if not, I find some nanopaste trodes. (1:47:30 PM) Frank Trollman: Apfelman is telling a story about this time he watched a pay per view Aztech death match from Myanmar. (1:47:42 PM) Frank Trollman: She does have a datajack. (1:47:56 PM) Cthuludreams: actually to update me - is she the linguist? (1:48:14 PM) Frank Trollman: Apparently there were two trolls fighting with bamboo spears. (1:48:21 PM) Frank Trollman: And yes she is. (1:49:20 PM) Cthuludreams: First I'll interupt patch and quitely ask him if there is any hope of her working? (1:49:58 PM) Frank Trollman: He asks you what you mean. (1:50:25 PM) Cthuludreams: 'I'm going to need something from terminal research translated. (1:51:03 PM) Frank Trollman: Patch: "People need to feel useful, and I'd like her to be doing something. But honestly she's still on suicide watch (1:51:07 PM) Cthuludreams: She's probably the only person who can do it, it doesn't require any physical effort, just mental coherence." (1:51:18 PM) Frank Trollman: people don't usually cut out their own tongues for no reason. (1:51:23 PM) Cthuludreams: Reginn nods sharply. (1:51:38 PM) Frank Trollman: "It's not especially difficult is it?" (1:52:28 PM) Cthuludreams: "I wouldn't have a clue. I've never seen the language, but she may have translated it already as part of her existing efforts. Not sure I have another choice, so I'll ask her anyway. Can I get you to look after something for me?" (1:52:40 PM) Cthuludreams: I'll look for a locker in line of sight of patch's temporary surgery. (1:53:49 PM) Frank Trollman: She looks at you like someone who is on morphine and then shrugs. (1:54:55 PM) Cthuludreams: (My last remarks were for patch- I want to get him to keep an eye on the tablet and just give her a digital copy. (1:55:48 PM) Frank Trollman: Oh, in tat case, he agrees. (1:56:34 PM) Cthuludreams: I'll make a copy of the tablet digitally, and put it into a locker then, then go as Neela if she can help. (1:57:37 PM) Frank Trollman: She looks at your hologram and shrugs. (1:57:58 PM) Frank Trollman: Then she looks at it again and her eyes get all big. (1:58:08 PM) Cthuludreams: @Patch: She seems pretty.. doped up. Any advice. Belay that one. (1:58:13 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela: What is it? (1:58:34 PM) Frank Trollman: it is broken (1:59:20 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela: Is that important? (1:59:51 PM) Frank Trollman: it depends on the precession (1:59:58 PM) Frank Trollman: maybe very important (2:00:08 PM) Cthuludreams: Reginn sucks his lower lip into his mouth (2:00:14 PM) kzt: @Reginn - did she see the orginal? (2:00:19 PM) Frank Trollman: She winces (2:00:21 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela: If we get the rest of it, we can fix it. (2:00:48 PM) Frank Trollman: where is the "rest" (2:00:52 PM) Cthuludreams: @Aiko: I am guessing so. She clearly knows what the tablet is, and may know what to do with it. (2:01:04 PM) Cthuludreams: @Team: Do we know where the rest of it is? (2:01:07 PM) Frank Trollman: it is worrying if they have the contract (2:01:49 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela: We think that a rogue member of the team has the.. peices.. but I am not sure he could have reassembled it. We used magic. His mage is under sedation (2:01:59 PM) Cthuludreams: Reginn jerks his head in the direction of the snoozing mage. (2:02:55 PM) Frank Trollman: She looks at you as if you are insane, and maybe dangerous. (2:03:13 PM) Cthuludreams: Reginn shrugs broadly (2:03:33 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela: I share the same view of that as you do. How is it important? (2:03:59 PM) Frank Trollman: it would be good if the contract was reassembled (2:04:21 PM) Frank Trollman: i would want yui to have it (2:04:35 PM) Frank Trollman: she knows the prophecies best (2:04:50 PM) Cthuludreams: (By Yui, she means the girl that the naga cut before the explosion right?) (2:05:05 PM) Frank Trollman: That would be her, yeah. (2:05:15 PM) Frank Trollman: Dr. Ayanami Yui. (2:05:53 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela: That may become an issue. If Yui has defected is there an altenative resource? (2:07:18 PM) Frank Trollman: it is not possible for yui to have defected (2:07:32 PM) Cthuludreams: Reginn stares back at Neela. (2:07:59 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela: She has disappeared then, as has the Naga. She may have been coerced. (2:08:00 PM) Frank Trollman: if there is disagreement we must have defected from her (2:09:35 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela: Either way, is then an altenative resource, or is her recovery as important as the contract? (2:10:35 PM) Frank Trollman: i do not believe that wollstonecraft can use it properly (2:10:47 PM) Frank Trollman: he does not know the prophecy (2:10:54 PM) Frank Trollman: he has merely read it (2:11:17 PM) Cthuludreams: Reginn closes his eyes for a moment, then sighs. (2:12:10 PM) Cthuludreams: I'll bundle up that recording as a simsense message for the team, then mail it around with a brief preface 'it appears the tablet is some sort of 'contract' (2:12:12 PM) Cthuludreams: and that we need that contract and yui. I think we may have to go through the gate.' (2:12:19 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela: Whats the contract for? (2:12:51 PM) Frank Trollman: existence (2:13:31 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela: We'll have to go get it. Do you know much/anything about the other side of the gate? (2:14:05 PM) Frank Trollman: yes (2:14:35 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela What can you tell me? It appears the contract is there so if we have to recover it, all the infomation we can get is useful. (2:16:12 PM) Frank Trollman: it is not stable there (2:16:20 PM) Frank Trollman: their time has ended (2:16:21 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela: Stable? (2:16:24 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela: Ah. (2:16:37 PM) Frank Trollman: they have been borrowing existence (2:16:46 PM) Frank Trollman: even that has run out for them (2:16:55 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela: Borrowing? Also, What about the physical conditions and the vunerabilities of the inhabitants, to focus on a more practial issue? (2:17:59 PM) Frank Trollman: eventually it has to go back (2:18:08 PM) Frank Trollman: but when it does it has been used (2:18:10 PM) Whipstitch: <-- Going to be afk for like, 5 minutes or so. (2:21:18 PM) Frank Trollman: Meanwhile: upstairs. (2:21:22 PM) Cthuludreams: @Neela: I'm not sure I'll ever really understand that. (2:21:26 PM) Frank Trollman: What's the gorgon plan? (2:21:38 PM) Narse: shoot it? (2:21:51 PM) Cthuludreams: (Last note: I'll proceed with the drone gathering and going back to them plan now) (2:21:55 PM) Narse: hose it down w/ NaOH? (2:21:55 PM) Frank Trollman: And downstairs: i don't think it is important if you understand it (2:21:56 PM) kzt: The astral combat ace stepped AKF (2:22:39 PM) Whipstitch: alright, I'm back. (2:22:49 PM) kzt: I think we were heading to towards going after it astrally, as that seems a lot safer than going after this monster in physical (2:23:04 PM) Frank Trollman: OK. (2:23:12 PM) Narse: Um, no astral here.. (2:23:27 PM) Frank Trollman: You're going to start dumping what on it (2:23:28 PM) Frank Trollman: ? (2:23:30 PM) kzt: But Crden is the astral ace (2:23:32 PM) Narse: so how about we attack it on 2 planes at once? (2:23:54 PM) Whipstitch: That's an option, although it's harder to retreat on the physical than it is on the astral. (2:24:06 PM) Whipstitch: Plus I was kind of trying to avoid lightning bolts+ flammable stuff. (2:24:13 PM) kzt: It throws lighting bolts inately and turns you to stone with a glance.... It''s damn tough. (2:24:36 PM) Frank Trollman: The Paterson Guide entry is not... encouraging. (2:24:38 PM) Narse: wait: it can throw lightning?!! (2:24:47 PM) Frank Trollman: And change the weather. (2:24:51 PM) Narse: Didn't know that! (2:24:55 PM) kzt: And it's sitting in a pool of acid laced oil. (2:24:56 PM) Whipstitch: It's a 4 meter dual natured dracoform. (2:25:10 PM) Narse: dracoform?!! (2:25:20 PM) Narse: ! (2:25:24 PM) Whipstitch: I'd much rather try mind wrastlin' the sucker than fight it's big meaty ass on its own terms. (2:25:26 PM) kzt: And we arethe eviction team. (2:25:35 PM) Frank Trollman: Claws, teeth, scales the equivalent of crystal iron. (2:25:47 PM) Narse: well, um, we could try talking to it... (2:26:04 PM) Frank Trollman: Petrifies things, electricutes stuff. (2:26:19 PM) kzt: And lives to hunt metahumans... (2:26:21 PM) Whipstitch: It's not like it's a dragon, mind you. (2:26:30 PM) Frank Trollman: It's true that no one has ever managed to talk to one before. (2:26:31 PM) Narse: plan c: grenades, lots of grenades (2:26:32 PM) Whipstitch: Dragons scoff at lesser dracoforms and are rather insulted by the implications. (2:26:46 PM) Whipstitch: that they're the same critter. (2:26:58 PM) Whipstitch: I wouldn't be surprised if lofwyr at people for lesser insults. (2:27:01 PM) Whipstitch: Ate* (2:27:02 PM) Frank Trollman: Dragons don't talk about gorgons at all, even when asked directly. (2:27:06 PM) kzt: It's also in the base vehicle shop. (2:27:07 PM) Frank Trollman: They just change the subject. (2:27:11 PM) Narse: So... Grenades... (2:27:22 PM) Whipstitch: Again, it's sitting in a pile of goo that appears flammable (2:27:28 PM) Narse: and.... (2:27:40 PM) kzt: It gets batter and batter, don't it? (2:27:50 PM) kzt: better and better... (2:28:14 PM) Narse: we have a fire suppression system, we don't have a gorgon supression system (2:28:26 PM) kzt: Cardin is hot shit on the astral, and I can shoot stunbolts at it. (2:28:37 PM) Narse: excepting our heavy weapons that is... (2:28:39 PM) Cthuludreams: OIt's in the vehcile locker right? (2:28:45 PM) Whipstitch: To be fair, I have a 4 in astral combat and I have the equivalent of 8 agility and 6 reaction on the astral when I'm jacked up on Psyche. (2:28:48 PM) Cthuludreams: There are vector thrust battle tanks in there (2:28:56 PM) Cthuludreams: We can turn one on, and use that to shoot it. (2:29:05 PM) kzt: It's in the claneing facility. (2:29:06 PM) Frank Trollman: The Guide says they come individually or in groups of three. (2:29:09 PM) Cthuludreams: that has all the hallmarks of being a bad idea, but is likely to kill it (2:29:10 PM) Cthuludreams: oh. (2:29:12 PM) kzt: cleaning.... (2:29:18 PM) Whipstitch: It's small. It likely could have parents in the area. (2:29:20 PM) Narse: lol, at people thinking my grenade idea was overkill... (2:29:21 PM) Cthuludreams: Whoops. (2:29:56 PM) kzt: It's not overkill, but I don't have time to rebuild the damn building this week. (2:30:03 PM) Whipstitch: Personally, I like the idea of trapping the thing in an air lock or otherwise containing it for later study and capture (seriously, expect pay raises all around for that one) (2:30:25 PM) kzt: We could stun it from the astral, I think. (2:30:49 PM) Whipstitch: Antagonizing it and luring with astral forms might work and I can also try whipping up a Trid Phantasm for bait as well. (2:30:59 PM) Whipstitch: And then there's pissing it off with drones. (2:31:06 PM) Narse: well, are you sure you don't want some physical back up for your astral shenanigans? (2:31:06 PM) Whipstitch: The big monkey wrench is I don't know how smart they are. (2:31:30 PM) Frank Trollman: No one does. (2:31:44 PM) Frank Trollman: Or rather, no one who is talking knows. (2:31:48 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah... like I said it's a pretty damn big monkey wrench. (2:32:45 PM) Whipstitch: Anyway, let's talk air locks and stuff; is there a part of the room we can lock it up in, like a big hangar or something? (2:32:55 PM) Frank Trollman: Wyverns are unintelligent. They can't even talk. (2:32:59 PM) Whipstitch: that's locked off from vital stuff, even. (2:33:04 PM) kzt: I'm thinking we have a better shot astrally, and can get away if more likely if we are wrong. (2:33:06 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, wyverns are pretty dumb... (2:33:08 PM) Frank Trollman: Sirrush are powerful spellcasters and brilliant. (2:34:01 PM) Whipstitch: As long as the thing can't cause mischief we can fix things up and come out smelling of roses. (2:34:58 PM) kzt: I don't know if we can keep it from digging though the walls and doors given time. It's tough. (2:35:18 PM) Whipstitch: That's true, but it's a li'l one. (2:35:40 PM) Whipstitch: I mean, we've got blast doors on this thing, and I bet one of the external defense drones could kick its ass. (2:35:46 PM) Frank Trollman: Also I'm not sure that anything which can change the weather by force of will can ever be in a situation where it can't cause mischief. (2:35:57 PM) kzt: How about we knock it out and then make plans? (2:36:34 PM) Whipstitch: My big fear is if it has the equivalent of Mystic Armor or some innate counterspelling ability. (2:37:20 PM) kzt: I don't think the books suggest it should.... (2:37:30 PM) kzt: Do they? (2:37:45 PM) Whipstitch: I don't think so, but that's an SR3 book talking about a largely unknown critter. (2:38:38 PM) Frank Trollman: Critters and Paranormal Animals of Europe also don't write up critter skills. (2:39:49 PM) Whipstitch: Well, I can default to my logic and do some Astral infiltration again and take a better look around to see if there's any more of them, at least, and if it sees me it sees me. (2:40:53 PM) Frank Trollman: K. Remember that regular Infiltration does work on the astral. (2:41:05 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, I don't have Infiltration though : ( (2:41:13 PM) kzt: Ok, I'll go astral with you and stay in cover. Me neither (2:41:38 PM) Frank Trollman: Ah. Well carry on then. (2:41:49 PM) Whipstitch: Alright, I'm going to sneak back in on the astral then and take a better look around. (2:42:10 PM) kzt: I'll keep an eye out for secondary threats. (2:42:58 PM) Whipstitch: You may wanna hang back far enough to make sure no shedim are coming for our shoes too. (2:43:18 PM) Narse: I got that (2:43:26 PM) kzt: That was part of hte secondary threats... (2:43:29 PM) Whipstitch: You can't really astrally perceive though, right? (2:43:39 PM) Whipstitch: Just double checking : ) (2:44:42 PM) Whipstitch: Anyway, no change in the situation thus far? (2:46:10 PM) Frank Trollman: Not really, you're outside in the lock, it's inside hanging out the back of th tipped over lifter. (2:48:10 PM) Whipstitch: Hrm, alright... I'm going to try and hit him with a Stun Bolt then. (2:48:36 PM) Whipstitch: Force 5, so it'll be at Force 3 effectively, correct? (2:48:43 PM) Frank Trollman: Yep. (2:49:11 PM) Whipstitch: 4 hits, one wasted. (2:49:12 PM) Frank Trollman: And remember that your Magic is down 2, and you still calc drain and force limits as if it was Force . (2:49:16 PM) Frank Trollman: 5. (2:49:24 PM) kzt: I'll stick my head through the wall and send one myself. f3 (from f5) (2:49:33 PM) Whipstitch: Yep, I'm fine with that. (2:50:12 PM) kzt: One hit, glitch. (2:50:31 PM) kzt: Drain soaked. (2:50:48 PM) Frank Trollman: OK, the first one got its attention, the second one bounced. (2:51:01 PM) Frank Trollman: It is pissed. (2:51:17 PM) Whipstitch: Same here. I actually keep missing my drain tests by a single hit, but the damper's always there for me. I <3 trauma dampers. (2:51:34 PM) Frank Trollman: It responds by thrashing through the lifter, shredding it, and becoming quite visible. (2:51:36 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, not really surprised there. (2:52:25 PM) kzt: I forget how astral init works (2:52:31 PM) Whipstitch: Init x2 (2:52:35 PM) Whipstitch: Sorry, intuition x2 (2:53:03 PM) Frank Trollman: Although in this case, recall that the drain on those Stunbolts was Physical. (2:53:26 PM) kzt: It's always on the the astral, right? (2:53:27 PM) Whipstitch: darn, that's right, okay, I take 1 stun then when it shifts it. (2:53:53 PM) Whipstitch: Still love dampers. (2:54:12 PM) kzt: I get one hit on initative (2:54:24 PM) Cthuludreams: dampers are awesome (2:54:27 PM) Whipstitch: 4 on initiative (2:54:37 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, the only thing that's sexier is the pain editor, and frankly, that's a bit debateable. (2:54:55 PM) Whipstitch: Editors are great, but the equivalen of a 3 hit on all stun damage is pretty sweet. (2:55:00 PM) Whipstitch: free hit even (2:55:07 PM) Whipstitch: I was thinking 3 hits= 1 dice etc. etc. (2:55:10 PM) Cthuludreams: you can use both (2:55:15 PM) Whipstitch: not concurrently. (2:55:22 PM) Whipstitch: which takes some of the fun out of it. (2:55:26 PM) Frank Trollman: It goes off at 0 with its new wound penalty. (2:55:41 PM) Cthuludreams: not at the same time, but the damper is good for bumping down spells you'll mostly get, and pain editor is managing high force summoning and binding (2:55:56 PM) Whipstitch: True. (2:56:28 PM) Whipstitch: Anyway, I go first then, and do I have all my passes still since my firs attack came from surprise? (2:56:40 PM) Whipstitch: Just want to know if I can still charge a Full Defense this round. (2:57:25 PM) Frank Trollman: Yes, you get to act. (2:57:44 PM) Frank Trollman: Basically it's action at the end of the surprise round was to use Splash. (2:58:11 PM) Whipstitch: 'kay, I'll hit him with another Force 3 (Force 5 for drain) stunbolt. (2:58:28 PM) Whipstitch: 2 hits this time. (2:59:59 PM) Frank Trollman: That bounces. (3:00:15 PM) Whipstitch: Soaked the drain this time. (3:00:45 PM) Frank Trollman: Who else goes before it starts turning on the death rays? (3:00:45 PM) kzt: When do I go? (3:01:02 PM) Frank Trollman: 1, before it. (3:01:59 PM) kzt: on, f3 1 hit, no drain.... :-o (3:02:27 PM) Frank Trollman: That likewise accomplishes nothing. (3:02:47 PM) Frank Trollman: What did Juichi get on initiative? (3:03:10 PM) kzt: I don't think he opened the door... (3:03:37 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, I think he's watching our shoes. (3:03:39 PM) Frank Trollman: Fair enough. (3:03:51 PM) Whipstitch: Didn't want to see the poor guy petrified and eaten. (3:03:56 PM) Frank Trollman: Well, there's a very large noise coming in from there. (3:03:58 PM) Narse: 2 hits (3:04:02 PM) Narse: just in casse (3:04:15 PM) Frank Trollman: Metal shredding sounds. (3:04:48 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, it's sounding like we'll probably be killing this thing : P (3:05:01 PM) Whipstitch: I doubt this place was designed for containing one. (3:05:13 PM) Whipstitch: Especially if it's going to get any bigger. (3:05:36 PM) Whipstitch: Provided it doesn't eat us. (3:05:56 PM) Frank Trollman: It drains itself slightly and calls in a spirit. (3:06:09 PM) Cthuludreams: I think moving up the killing plan might be highly advantageous at this time. (3:06:13 PM) Whipstitch: Bleh. It's a full magician. (3:06:21 PM) Whipstitch: Or at least conjurer (3:06:47 PM) kzt: Lit me chack. Nope, this was not on the plan. (3:07:16 PM) Frank Trollman: You can make assensing tests if you'd like. (3:07:33 PM) Whipstitch: 2 hits (3:07:52 PM) kzt: 1 hit (3:08:02 PM) Frank Trollman: It's a Blight Spirit. (3:08:13 PM) Frank Trollman: Force 3, but Force 5 here. (3:08:23 PM) kzt: Ok. What's that? (3:08:34 PM) Whipstitch: I feel a bit better about not bothering to try talking to it. (3:08:34 PM) Frank Trollman: Pollution Aspected Plant. (3:08:58 PM) Whipstitch: I doubt the Toxic Tradition man-eating dracoform was friendly. (3:09:01 PM) kzt: Ok, sounds like boogie time to go get the firepower... (3:11:01 PM) Frank Trollman: It appears as a hole in the universe which looks upon a field of grass parched and twisted by metallic dust on the soil from which it grew. (3:11:12 PM) Frank Trollman: It's frightening, but beautiful. (3:14:19 PM) kzt: Ok, I'm thinking that on this IP I'm going to boogie back to my body. (3:14:29 PM) Frank Trollman: OK. (3:14:43 PM) Frank Trollman: Are you also doing that? (3:15:40 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, but slowly; I don't want to just drop back in, I'll hold them off for a turn if i have to. I want to try and get them out of their domain but give kzt time to get our shoes out of the immediate area. (3:15:44 PM) kzt: Tell Reginn "Get a combat drone and start moving towards the vehicle hatch" it's summoning spirits. (3:16:27 PM) Cthuludreams: I get on with it, faster. (3:17:26 PM) kzt: There is an outside hatch on the vehicle cleing facility, correct? (3:17:51 PM) Frank Trollman: OK, well, second IP it actually goes after you (if it goes at all). (3:18:04 PM) Frank Trollman: So you get the first pass: what do you do? (3:19:17 PM) kzt: I'm going to get up and drag Carden't shoes into the elevator, along with the cart. The lynx will shoot anything physical other then Reginn (3:19:47 PM) Cthuludreams: If it's in vehcile cleaning, I can get one of the big tanks from the vechile hanger to vechile cleaning right? Presumably they'd fit? (3:20:57 PM) Whipstitch: I'll try stunbolting again; I want to buy the guys some time to move my shoes. (3:21:15 PM) Frank Trollman: Yes they would. (3:21:23 PM) Frank Trollman: You'd have to open the roof. (3:21:47 PM) kzt: Like blow it open, or does it "open"? (3:22:38 PM) Whipstitch: I guess I'll be using my free action to try and move out of their domain, but not at the cost of bringing them right on top of my shoes. (3:22:43 PM) Frank Trollman: It "opens" (3:22:59 PM) Frank Trollman: So that the larger vehicles can get cleaned off. (3:23:05 PM) Narse: so, we're moving his shoes? (3:23:09 PM) kzt: So is this the VCF ot the hanger that we'd have to open? (3:23:24 PM) Cthuludreams: okay, so depending on the timelines, if I'm still in the cafe I'm going to go full VR, get the computer to give me a tank, and drive get it to open the hangar. (3:23:27 PM) kzt: Yes, pulling him into the elevator. Tanks are not sugical. (3:23:45 PM) Whipstitch: I hope so; I want to fight them from outside of their domain but having the gorgon eat my unconscious form isn't on my list of things to do. (3:24:26 PM) Cthuludreams: It'll have a coaxial machinegun or something (3:24:34 PM) Frank Trollman: So you're both using the init pass you have on this guy to duck out of the room so it doesn't have LOS to you, right (3:24:37 PM) Frank Trollman: ? (3:24:43 PM) Cthuludreams: hopefully a big one, and ideally like modern tanks it will have *three* machine guns. (3:25:21 PM) Whipstitch: I guess I'm saying I'll stay and cover kzt's exit first pass. (3:25:26 PM) kzt: The combat drones has autcannon and missiles IIRC. (3:26:15 PM) Cthuludreams: Hrm. (3:26:35 PM) Frank Trollman: I think it actually has a couple of lasers and an axial linear accelerator. (3:26:52 PM) Cthuludreams: Sweet, so lasers and a RAILGUN (3:26:52 PM) Whipstitch: I'm not really big on the idea of collateral damage guys. (3:26:54 PM) Frank Trollman: The tank. (3:26:56 PM) Cthuludreams: sign me up for 10. (3:27:04 PM) Whipstitch: I think we can take this thing if we get it out of its domain and don't let it keep summoning spirits all day. (3:27:31 PM) Cthuludreams: Well, I'll get that started anyone as a plan B, but I'll focus instead on getting the regular gundrones I summoned from outside patrol last session over there (3:27:53 PM) Cthuludreams: by regular I have no idea what they have but they are smaller than the tanks. (3:27:54 PM) kzt: Shooting DOWN into the room with a rialgun is a really BAD idea. We live under that room. (3:28:12 PM) Whipstitch: Remember that we're dealing with a pretty short time frame too; my hope is to engage it on the astral outside of its domain yet. (3:28:20 PM) Whipstitch: And a combat round is really short. (3:28:22 PM) Cthuludreams: If it comes to that, I'll use the lasers, not the railgun. (3:28:31 PM) Cthuludreams: despite being gungho, I'm not without a brain. (3:29:06 PM) Frank Trollman: The smaller ones have a missile launcher and a flak cannon. (3:29:21 PM) Whipstitch: So I'm really just hoping I can keep them busy long enough to get our physical forms away from the very edge of their domain and then try and fight them on even ground with maybe some normal drone back up. (3:29:26 PM) kzt: I can grab a small one and run it. (3:29:37 PM) Cthuludreams: Hrm. (3:30:06 PM) kzt: Once we have them out side the door we vent the room and hose them down. (3:30:08 PM) Frank Trollman: What exactly is the plan for "keeping it busy"? (3:30:22 PM) kzt: The rist them would be the drones, sorry. (3:30:27 PM) Cthuludreams: Okay my options are plinking it with an assault rifle, running over there and trying to 'seize' it which has a reduced effect on things with a radically different neural stracture, using drones that have big guns, or using a tank. (3:30:37 PM) Whipstitch: Basically I'll stick around and fight it if I have to on the astral; if it chases kzt and ignores me there's not much I can do about that, I suppose. (3:31:19 PM) Cthuludreams: Okay, definately going with the: I'll order all 4 drones to drive themselves to Kzt's current position, and then order a tank to start its engines and move to vehicle cleaning ASAP. (3:31:30 PM) Whipstitch: remember reginn that we're still talking about like a single combat round man. We've got like 3 seconds to do all this in. (3:31:32 PM) Frank Trollman: OK, well in the interests of moving forward then: you have an initiative pass to fight it on the astral. What is your attack mode? (3:31:45 PM) Frank Trollman: I suggest an ice move. (3:31:47 PM) Whipstitch: I dunno where all these fancy ideas are necessarily coming from right away. (3:32:24 PM) Cthuludreams: (Yeah, I know, it's 5 simple actions to order all the drones actually, which I can do in one round. Then there is a delay until they get there) (3:32:51 PM) Whipstitch: (right, if kzt manages to get back and drag my body off unmolested) (3:32:51 PM) kzt: Computer, there is a hostile very dangerous paranormal critter in the vehicle cleaning facility, please plan to open the outer vehicle door on our command. (3:33:07 PM) Whipstitch: We have plans but we don't really "know" anything yet. (3:33:35 PM) Whipstitch: I guess I'll attack it with normal astral combat. (3:33:42 PM) Whipstitch: the gorgon, I mean. (3:33:56 PM) Narse: Plan: shoot it. (3:34:01 PM) Whipstitch: I still have 8 logic from the psyche I took, right? (3:34:02 PM) Frank Trollman: Alright. (3:34:07 PM) Frank Trollman: Yes. (3:34:19 PM) Whipstitch: 4 hits. (3:34:48 PM) Whipstitch: I have 3 charisma for the purposes of DV, unfortunately. (3:35:54 PM) Frank Trollman: Well you hit. (3:36:04 PM) Frank Trollman: Right in the eye stalk. (3:36:21 PM) Frank Trollman: Which turns out to also be covered in iron hard scales. (3:36:26 PM) Frank Trollman: They are just smaller. (3:36:53 PM) Frank Trollman: And it soaks it down to zero. (3:36:58 PM) kzt: Armor, in hte astral... How nice. (3:37:04 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, not really surprised, actually. (3:38:47 PM) Whipstitch: On the upside, i didn't risk any drain. (3:39:08 PM) Whipstitch: Just know to keep stun bolting from here out since it didn't even flinch. (3:39:23 PM) kzt: The bite is what I'd be worried about... (3:39:30 PM) Whipstitch: It occurred to me. (3:40:22 PM) Frank Trollman: Well, it doesn't actually have a second IP, so it's your go again. (3:40:37 PM) kzt: Lucky.... (3:40:42 PM) Whipstitch: I've got 14 dice for Full Defense though if the GM screen is to be believed, mind you... chances are I may still get away : P (3:41:00 PM) Whipstitch: I'm stupidly confident, but there's a tiny bit of justification to be had. (3:41:27 PM) Whipstitch: Anyway, I'll stunbolt just like I did previously. (3:41:35 PM) Frank Trollman: Full Defense in this case would be Intuition + Astral Combat x 2. (3:41:44 PM) Whipstitch: Alright, same result in my case then. (3:42:03 PM) Whipstitch: I never did figure out why they threw in dodge for the gm screen... maybe for dual natured critters or something? (3:42:04 PM) Frank Trollman: And you have a 3rd IP, being an astral form. (3:42:08 PM) Whipstitch: Yep. (3:42:35 PM) Frank Trollman: Dodge is a skill which probably made more sense in an earlier draft. (3:43:21 PM) Whipstitch: I kind of figured that too... I almost always go for some combo of gymnastics, unarmed and astral combat in higher powered games these days, but that's neither here nor there. (3:43:38 PM) Whipstitch: anyway... I got 3 hits on my spellcasting test. (3:44:09 PM) Frank Trollman: That gets its attention. (3:44:19 PM) Frank Trollman: It takes another 4 stun. (3:44:36 PM) Frank Trollman: New Round. (3:44:50 PM) Whipstitch: soaked the drain. (3:45:01 PM) Frank Trollman: Spirit gets no hits on initiative. (3:45:31 PM) Frank Trollman: Gorgon also goes at zero. (3:45:35 PM) kzt: Ok, is Regin in the Elevator with me and cardin's shoes? (3:45:48 PM) Frank Trollman: Not even close. (3:46:04 PM) Frank Trollman: You are at this very moment waking up in your body. (3:46:24 PM) kzt: Ok... (3:47:11 PM) kzt: That will be my plan then. (3:47:40 PM) Whipstitch: I'll stun bolt the gorgon as per usual my first pass. (3:47:41 PM) Frank Trollman: So yeah, Carden goes again. (3:47:55 PM) Whipstitch: 2 hits. (3:48:03 PM) Frank Trollman: That bounces. (3:48:08 PM) Whipstitch: soaked the drain. (3:48:35 PM) Frank Trollman: At zero, you get jumped by a view upon the end of a prairie and also a dracoform. (3:49:00 PM) Frank Trollman: Spirit gets 3 hits. (3:49:28 PM) Frank Trollman: The Gorgon gets 5. (3:49:41 PM) Frank Trollman: Turns out it can fly by the way. (3:50:39 PM) Frank Trollman: Astral defense, you can do either one first. (3:51:07 PM) Whipstitch: Alright, so I still can get full d, right? (3:51:53 PM) Frank Trollman: Yes. (3:52:09 PM) Frank Trollman: But next round you'd only be able to move. (3:52:30 PM) Frank Trollman: Remember that the second attack is at a -1 dicepool penalty. (3:52:39 PM) Frank Trollman: So you should probably roll the gorgon first. (3:52:44 PM) Whipstitch: alright. Plus i got my stun modifier. (3:52:47 PM) kzt: (Moving out of that deathtrap seems like a good idea to me) (3:53:00 PM) Whipstitch: 5 hits, so i tie and avoid the gorgon. (3:53:15 PM) Whipstitch: and 4 hits against the spirit. (3:53:20 PM) Frank Trollman: That is exactly enough to avoid both. (3:53:41 PM) Whipstitch: I <3 astral combat. (3:53:49 PM) Frank Trollman: Although you are able to see its face going past you and through a locker. (3:54:07 PM) Frank Trollman: The plastisteel boxes part for it like water. (3:54:38 PM) Whipstitch: Next round I'm definitely booking to my shoes. (3:55:17 PM) Frank Trollman: You go first, and away you go. (3:55:18 PM) kzt: (They'd have torn me to shreds) (3:55:36 PM) Frank Trollman: They don't seem to follow you. (3:56:13 PM) Frank Trollman: So you guys have some time to regroup. (3:56:18 PM) Whipstitch: Well, hopefully they don't heal super fast and we can get back in with some drones asap. (3:56:31 PM) Frank Trollman: People can merge with their bodies, move stuff around. (3:56:34 PM) Whipstitch: As far as I'm concerned that li'l sortie turned out fine. (3:56:41 PM) kzt: Good, get off this floor. (3:56:45 PM) Whipstitch: except for the part where I nearly got eaten. (3:56:46 PM) kzt: Yes, it did. (3:56:57 PM) kzt: But you didn't! (3:57:20 PM) Frank Trollman: BAROMETRIC PRESSURE IS FALLING, PLEASE CHECK AIR FILTERS (3:57:29 PM) kzt: In what loaction? (3:57:45 PM) Frank Trollman: ALL MEASURED LOCATIONS ON BASE (3:58:14 PM) kzt: to everyone Emergency! Everyone put on Pressure suits! (3:58:15 PM) Cthuludreams: oh dear. (3:58:24 PM) Cthuludreams: I'll seal my suit. (3:58:27 PM) Frank Trollman: It's starting to get windy. (3:58:49 PM) Cthuludreams: blowing which way? (3:58:59 PM) Whipstitch: Okay. So, I'm going to go out on a limb and say it is smarter than previously anticipated. (3:59:13 PM) Whipstitch: Either that or it's just the innate storm power. (3:59:19 PM) Whipstitch: Which, is hardly comforting either way. (4:00:39 PM) Whipstitch: How quickly can we get some drone support? (4:00:49 PM) Cthuludreams: what smy ETA with the tank and the drones? (4:01:02 PM) Frank Trollman: around. It's like there are little dust devils starting up. (4:01:47 PM) Frank Trollman: And he can get the tank started up in a less time than he can get the missile drones here. (4:01:51 PM) kzt: Take teh elevator down with us and our gear on it. (4:01:55 PM) Frank Trollman: It's outside on a launcher. (4:01:59 PM) Whipstitch: I'd think the thing has to be hurting a bit; we should probably get ready to move against it fairly quickly here. (4:02:13 PM) Cthuludreams: I'm going to go in with the tank then (4:02:19 PM) Cthuludreams: I will not use the rail gun though (4:02:45 PM) kzt: Use it you have to or if you have a great shot. (4:03:05 PM) Cthuludreams: I'll get a OOC: Show of hands before I do that atleast :) (4:03:19 PM) Cthuludreams: Lets roll Tankboy. (4:04:11 PM) Cthuludreams: There is every possibility the pilot program will shoot better than me, if you have a good gunnery. (4:04:22 PM) Cthuludreams: I can bring it into position and then hand over. (4:04:47 PM) Frank Trollman: So the plan is to ask the computer to raise the roof and then come in there with laser eyebeams from the interceptor? (4:04:52 PM) kzt: Not me (4:04:54 PM) Cthuludreams: yup. (4:04:58 PM) Whipstitch: what are the tank's weapons again? (4:05:05 PM) Cthuludreams: lasers and a railgun. (4:05:24 PM) Whipstitch: are the laser's adjustable power wise at all? I mean, if we could set phasers to stun and not blow everyone up, that'd be nice, lol : P (4:05:24 PM) Cthuludreams: I'm going to paint the target, and let the pilot take the shot. (4:05:37 PM) Cthuludreams: If that is an option I will indeed use that (4:05:46 PM) Whipstitch: I kinda doubt it though, heh. (4:06:10 PM) Whipstitch: star trek's phasers were real cute but not really on the same level as sr4 tech. (4:06:17 PM) Whipstitch: but I figure it never hurts to ask. (4:06:21 PM) Frank Trollman: They are beam lasers, operating on the FA principle, so in effect they are extremely adjustable. (4:06:55 PM) Frank Trollman: Essentially limitless in adjustability, but the game granulates. (4:06:57 PM) Cthuludreams: do I have any idea of what setting is low enough to not punch holes in the base? (4:07:27 PM) Cthuludreams: armored combat isn;t a specality or anything, and I have gunnery 1 and logic 5 as my only fallback position (4:07:32 PM) Whipstitch: Honestly, if he can even distract the thing so I can sneak up on the astral and start up with the stunbolts again I'd be pretty happy. (4:07:39 PM) kzt: If you hit it with a laser it won't damage the base. (4:07:41 PM) Frank Trollman: Well, it's a beam, and any setting will carve a hole in the base. But if you paint it around, it won't be deep enough to punch through. (4:07:58 PM) Cthuludreams: ah right (4:08:09 PM) kzt: If you miss it will cut stuff up. (4:08:34 PM) Frank Trollman: I can pretty much guaranty it cutting stuff if it hits. (4:08:50 PM) Cthuludreams: Okay then we'll just have to get lucky, awesome plan I know. (4:09:03 PM) Cthuludreams: I'll dial it back to an anti personnel setting if it has one (4:09:04 PM) kzt: If it's not moving try for a one shot kill at full power. (4:09:05 PM) Cthuludreams: and go with that (4:09:20 PM) Cthuludreams: dial it up to anti tank if I get a really sweet shot. (4:09:52 PM) kzt: Hopefully the spirit will not be that much of a problem then. (4:10:10 PM) Frank Trollman: OK, make a Pilot test. (4:10:11 PM) Cthuludreams: can I use the tank as a relay for my LOS powers? (4:10:18 PM) Whipstitch: *looks at the tank* "Computer, if we puncture the vehicle area's seal, where can I go so I'll be safe when the air locks isolate the area?" (4:10:23 PM) Cthuludreams: going to let it fly itself - it's pilot 4? (4:10:26 PM) Frank Trollman: Yes, it is equipped with a directional relay. (4:10:33 PM) Frank Trollman: It is Pilot 4. (4:10:41 PM) kzt: There is also several inches of ablative armor on the floor of the room from the oil. (4:10:56 PM) Cthuludreams: 4 sucesses. (4:11:23 PM) kzt: I've tried to get everyone out of this floor to the main base 30 meters (iirc) undeground. (4:12:19 PM) kzt: Unless you objecte that's where you'd be. (4:12:34 PM) Frank Trollman: 4 hits on pilot (4:12:36 PM) Frank Trollman: ? (4:12:43 PM) Cthuludreams: yur (4:13:06 PM) Frank Trollman: That's substantially more than it needs. (4:13:08 PM) Whipstitch: Hrm, actually, what kind of crew can be in the tank? I suppose I could probably project from in there and be relatively safe. (4:13:29 PM) Frank Trollman: Apparently the interceptor already has a pre-programmed attack pattern for shelling the base. Who knew (4:13:31 PM) Frank Trollman: ? (4:13:43 PM) ***Cthuludreams laughs. (4:13:45 PM) Whipstitch: Unless the spirit could just materialize inside the tank and kill me that way. Hrm. (4:14:25 PM) Frank Trollman: Well the tank is taking off from a hangar outside the base. (4:14:32 PM) Whipstitch: ah, alright, nm. (4:14:46 PM) Cthuludreams: does it have a targetting program? (4:14:47 PM) Frank Trollman: So right now, you'd get into it by climbing up through the vehicle cleaning facility. (4:14:53 PM) Frank Trollman: It does. (4:15:05 PM) Frank Trollman: Or you can use your own Gunnery. (4:15:11 PM) Cthuludreams: okay so it's its better than my 6 DP for my own hunnery? (4:15:54 PM) Frank Trollman: Your Logic + Gunnery is only 6? (4:16:03 PM) Cthuludreams: yup! (4:16:12 PM) Frank Trollman: OK, then yes. (4:16:20 PM) Cthuludreams: I cut back to gunnery 1 at some point in character design because I am insane ;) (4:16:29 PM) Frank Trollman: It has a dicepool of 8 and a smartlink. (4:16:38 PM) Frank Trollman: Fair enough. (4:17:01 PM) Cthuludreams: Righto then, it can do the shooting, I'll just designate the target when it gets in the cleaning area. (4:17:13 PM) Whipstitch: Heh. Too bad Catharz isn't around. (4:17:28 PM) Whipstitch: his pc could rig, couldn't it? (4:17:36 PM) Frank Trollman: Yes. (4:17:58 PM) Whipstitch: Too bad for him; not often you get to shoot dracoforms with laser beam equipped tanks ; ) (4:18:05 PM) Cthuludreams: yeah, he is the 'real' rigger :) (4:18:17 PM) Whipstitch: not without half of dumpshock screaming munchkin and bloody murder, anyway ; ) (4:18:31 PM) kzt: Your pulling off a long way and coming back, or are you just driving between rooms? (4:18:51 PM) Cthuludreams: I'm taking off a bit away from the base and flying towards it (4:18:54 PM) Frank Trollman: So at this point it is acting on its own. (4:18:58 PM) Cthuludreams: apparently that beats the gun drones, but they are hurrying (4:18:59 PM) kzt: Ok. (4:19:13 PM) Frank Trollman: It gets 2 IP, and takes a targetting action to determine who it is killing. (4:19:23 PM) kzt: Do you want the external doors to the VCF open nyet? (4:19:25 PM) Cthuludreams: yeah, I'm keeping a close eye on it though - including painting the target for it (4:19:35 PM) Cthuludreams: Openning the doors is a good idea (4:19:57 PM) Frank Trollman: Although you can designate the gorgon as a target for it if you want. (4:20:03 PM) kzt: Ok, computer, open the VCF doors to mars surface (4:20:12 PM) Cthuludreams: Highlighting Targets Even if you aren't directly controlling a drone, you can designate a target for it to move to or fire upon as a Free Action. (4:20:13 PM) Cthuludreams: It's a separate Free Action to highlight a target for each Drone, and the Drone acts on its own Initiative and uses its own Pilot + Targeting to make attack rolls. <-- I'll use that action (4:20:27 PM) Frank Trollman: I figured. (4:21:17 PM) Frank Trollman: SENSORS INDICATE THE PRESENCE OF LIVING CREATURES IN VEHICLE CLEANING AREA (4:21:33 PM) Frank Trollman: OPENING DOORS WOULD BE LETHAL CONTINUE Y/N (4:21:51 PM) kzt: Correct, it is a hostile paranormal creature. (4:22:02 PM) Whipstitch: We can only hope it kills it : P (4:22:04 PM) kzt: WE need to destroy it to protect the base. (4:22:32 PM) Whipstitch: "Computer, how many living creatures?" (4:22:37 PM) Frank Trollman: Ceiling opens up, a cloud of noxious gas erupts out of it and the goo begins to boil. (4:22:45 PM) Whipstitch: The plural part worries me a tiny bit, come to think of it. (4:22:51 PM) Frank Trollman: Visibility is poor to the Gorgon. (4:23:06 PM) Cthuludreams: Can I see it at all? (4:23:31 PM) Cthuludreams: (Lasers are going to bess less effective with the smoke too) (4:23:51 PM) kzt: We need it dead. Do what you have to. (4:23:55 PM) Frank Trollman: Yes, it's big, and it's flailing. (4:24:28 PM) kzt: It doesn't like no air? How sad. (4:24:39 PM) Cthuludreams: Okay I'll free action designate as a target, and then use seize on it myself (4:25:18 PM) Cthuludreams: which scores 3 sucesses, and 2 on anything between a -1 and -6 dice pool penalty. (4:26:54 PM) Frank Trollman: Well, the Seize does not affect it. It's like it has a redundant nervous system or something. (4:27:12 PM) Frank Trollman: The lasers are at -2 to-hit from the clouds. (4:27:27 PM) Cthuludreams: 3 sucesses (4:28:08 PM) Frank Trollman: How much wide, how much narrow? (4:28:30 PM) Cthuludreams: not sure what you mean? (4:28:41 PM) Frank Trollman: You can get up to +9 DV or up to -9 to its defense, because it's always in full auto. (4:28:53 PM) Cthuludreams: ahh (4:29:42 PM) Whipstitch: I'd consider going against it's defense; it's already going to be banged up and you just get more net hits anyway. (4:29:48 PM) Cthuludreams: no recoil right? (4:29:54 PM) Cthuludreams: okay -9 to its defense then (4:30:14 PM) Whipstitch: Missing would be bad anyway, heh. (4:30:31 PM) Frank Trollman: Alright. Lasers paint pseudo-random lines on the area. (4:31:13 PM) Frank Trollman: And the gorgon takes five physical damage. (4:31:55 PM) Frank Trollman: And yes, it did just take an anti-aircraft laser to the face ans came out "annoyed" (4:32:03 PM) Cthuludreams: *grins* (4:32:21 PM) Cthuludreams: I'll step up the firepower on the drones next IP pass (4:32:33 PM) Whipstitch: ...Yeah, I'm starting to become happier and happier with the "Sneak up, pull its tail, then find a tank" approach to handling this thing. (4:32:49 PM) Whipstitch: Even if it eats the tank we can jump it again on the astral after it's weakened. (4:32:56 PM) kzt: There was a reason I didn't want to walk in that room. I'm glad we didn't walk in on it like we were planning.... (4:33:15 PM) Whipstitch: I would have insisted on scouting ahead astrally anyway... (4:33:18 PM) Whipstitch: but yeah. (4:33:20 PM) Frank Trollman: Then something is using Accident on your Tank. (4:33:29 PM) Whipstitch: Bloody spirit. (4:33:38 PM) Cthuludreams: Roh oh. (4:33:51 PM) Cthuludreams: atleast there will be an unaligned background count. (4:34:01 PM) kzt: Crap. I'll summon a spirit. Please catch me.... (4:34:21 PM) Frank Trollman: You get to roll a Reaction + Intuition check to try to correct. (4:34:40 PM) Whipstitch: I'm not sure if there would be; the background count found earlier was Toxic and i'm not sure opening the doors would be enough to change that. (4:34:45 PM) Cthuludreams: 4 sucesses. (4:34:53 PM) Frank Trollman: Otherwise, we skip straight to the pilot program trying to .... nevermind (4:34:54 PM) Cthuludreams: yeah but the tank is outside the base. (4:35:17 PM) Whipstitch: Hrm. (4:36:03 PM) Frank Trollman: And of course there is also a lightning bolt coming out to meet your tank as the gorgon comes out to play, flying Gyrados style. (4:36:38 PM) Whipstitch: If the gorgon's on the outside can we order the external drones to blast it? (4:37:04 PM) Cthuludreams: (I'll tell the computer to get all the *other* tanks to fly towards this one.) (4:37:23 PM) kzt: 3 successes on a f3 air spirit with guard (4:37:58 PM) Frank Trollman: Right now they don't have a shot, but they may soon. (4:38:18 PM) Frank Trollman: 2 services, 2 drain. (4:39:31 PM) Frank Trollman: Anyway, it turns out that your flying tank is electrically protected, so all that happens with the lightning impact is a momentary scrambling of long range sensors. (4:40:05 PM) kzt: Soaked. I'll got astral and point out the tank that I want it to guard and conceal - while staying well away from the spirt and gorgon. Then scurry off to safey before it eats me. (4:41:38 PM) Frank Trollman: Well, the tank has another pass, and can line up a shot with any of its weapons. (4:42:09 PM) Cthuludreams: does the line between the gorgon and the tank extend to the base or into the distance? (4:42:24 PM) Cthuludreams: I'm guessing by the flying up it's into the distance now, but I'll check ;) (4:42:28 PM) Frank Trollman: Base. (4:42:33 PM) Cthuludreams: damnit! (4:42:45 PM) Cthuludreams: Okay I'll crank up the lasers to full power and then shoot again. (4:42:57 PM) Frank Trollman: Wide or narrow? (4:43:16 PM) Frank Trollman: It's out of most of the clouds, and its penalty is only -1. (4:43:21 PM) Cthuludreams: Narrow (4:43:39 PM) Cthuludreams: 3 sucesses (4:44:21 PM) Whipstitch: Hrm, I probably would have stuck with the wide, but then, I'm pretty conservative when I'm not going "Durr, let's attack the gorgon ourselves, durr." (4:44:25 PM) Frank Trollman: It rolls much worse on its soak. (4:44:38 PM) kzt: Do we have bisection? (4:45:23 PM) Frank Trollman: It takes the full brunt of the laser, which as a beam weapon stays locked on and cores a hole in its chest and past into the lifter. (4:45:33 PM) Cthuludreams: whoops. (4:45:50 PM) Frank Trollman: It wasn't usable at this point anyway. (4:46:44 PM) Whipstitch: "Well, that was fun. Akio, just slap me the next time I decide to attack a "small" gorgon." (4:47:04 PM) Frank Trollman: They get bigger. (4:47:05 PM) kzt: It seemed like a good idea at the time..... (4:47:18 PM) Whipstitch: I'll just keep telling myself I could of taken' 'im eventually ; ) (4:47:31 PM) Whipstitch: Nobody puncture my delusions of grandeur, please. (4:47:43 PM) kzt: (ok) (4:47:47 PM) Frank Trollman: Its body cored like an apple, falls limp and heavy into the debris below. (4:48:03 PM) Frank Trollman: No evidence of the spirit. (4:48:13 PM) kzt: Hmm. (4:48:51 PM) Whipstitch: In reality, I'm pretty sure I would have done OK right up until I rolled badly and he hit me with something like 8P base DV while I had no armor. (4:49:02 PM) Whipstitch: Definitely would not pass go and collect $200 in that case. (4:49:16 PM) Whipstitch: And that's probably really conservative. (4:49:32 PM) kzt: Yumm, metahuman soul very tasty... (4:50:07 PM) Frank Trollman: 9P and paralysis. (4:50:23 PM) kzt: Ok, do we want to do an astral scan for the spirit? How is the pressure? (4:50:36 PM) Whipstitch: Uh, yeah. I'd be at 2 left on my Physical track then. (4:50:44 PM) Frank Trollman: It's going back to normal. (4:50:45 PM) Whipstitch: before counting his hits :-P (4:51:00 PM) Cthuludreams: rofl. (4:51:02 PM) kzt: X-S (4:51:06 PM) Whipstitch: and that's just 'cuz of my damper (4:52:05 PM) kzt: do a quick astral check of the base for stuff? (4:52:29 PM) Whipstitch: So, I wonder if turning in our video feeds of this encounter would get promotions all around or would they just immediately demote me for being an idiot? (4:52:30 PM) Frank Trollman: Assensing test. (4:52:47 PM) Whipstitch: 'cuz that's the 2nd really big lizard I've pissed off and not been killed by thanks to sheer luck. (4:52:56 PM) Frank Trollman: Your video feed didn't pick up any of that fight though - it was astral. (4:52:59 PM) kzt: Zero! (4:53:01 PM) Whipstitch: ah, right. (4:53:16 PM) Whipstitch: 3 his (4:53:18 PM) Whipstitch: hits* (4:53:24 PM) Frank Trollman: 3 can be his. (4:53:31 PM) Cthuludreams: so what it looks like is that you guys annoyed the gorgon long enough for the cavalry to arrive (ie the drone) (4:53:54 PM) Frank Trollman: You've What are you doing with the interceptor, by the way? (4:54:08 PM) Frank Trollman: It uses an attrocious amount of fuel flying around. (4:54:35 PM) Whipstitch: I guess park it as per it's autopilots procedures? (4:54:35 PM) kzt: How about you head it back while Carden and I chech that level out astrally? (4:55:03 PM) Frank Trollman: Anyhow, searching around the base at high speed, there are extra wards up where there used to be no wards. (4:55:23 PM) kzt: Cool! Ok, not really. Where? (4:55:24 PM) Frank Trollman: Wollstonecraft's suite is warded off. (4:55:38 PM) Cthuludreams: is it possible to get the interceptor into terminal research and the gate? (4:55:42 PM) Frank Trollman: So is a supply closet on the habitat area. (4:55:44 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, we'll head back to my laser Guardian and do astral searches. (4:55:54 PM) Cthuludreams: if not, I'll just park it and hopefully there is a refulling feature somewhere. (4:55:56 PM) Frank Trollman: Not a chance in hell. (4:56:02 PM) kzt: The closet is interesting... (4:56:09 PM) Frank Trollman: You'd have to cut it up and fit it into the elevator. (4:56:19 PM) Cthuludreams: Then I go hug the gun drones after sending it back (4:57:25 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, sorta figured it'd have to just be parked as per normal operating procedures. (4:57:46 PM) Whipstitch: "I think I'm actually starting to enjoy all this on some level." (4:57:54 PM) kzt: So we dont find the spirit on the top level? (4:58:01 PM) Cthuludreams: There's no hurry, so I set it to whatever the 'not combat speed' mode is where it buys hits. (4:58:20 PM) Frank Trollman: Nope. (4:58:22 PM) Whipstitch: It probably booked back to its home plane after its conjuror kicked the bucket. (4:58:32 PM) Frank Trollman: That's the hope. (4:58:35 PM) Whipstitch: No particular reason to stick around with no one to use services for. (4:58:44 PM) kzt: I hope so. VCF sill feel icky? (5:00:04 PM) Frank Trollman: Oh heck yes. (5:00:28 PM) Frank Trollman: Add "depressurized" to the list of reasons that it is completely uninhabitable. (5:01:15 PM) kzt: Is the goo finished boiling away? (5:02:05 PM) Frank Trollman: No. It just keeps boiling. (5:02:11 PM) Frank Trollman: It's a slow process. (5:02:16 PM) Frank Trollman: May take a while. (5:02:56 PM) Whipstitch: Should move on to the next problem and come back later if at all possible then, I guess. (5:02:56 PM) kzt: Well, lets see if we can seal it back up and check it out first. (5:03:04 PM) Whipstitch: That works too. (5:03:40 PM) kzt: Just want to see where the oil came from and be sure it wasn't anywhere important. (5:04:07 PM) kzt: But that can wait. Lets do the water now. (5:04:14 PM) Frank Trollman: Who wants to slog around in it and make engineer or mechanics checks? (5:04:44 PM) Cthuludreams: I vote the janitor does it (5:04:52 PM) kzt: I will, once we have the water under control. I'll have fetched my spirt too, (5:06:07 PM) Frank Trollman: Heh. (5:06:17 PM) Frank Trollman: What's the next plan then? (5:06:29 PM) kzt: Lets go vist Water World. (5:06:46 PM) Narse: sounds good (5:06:52 PM) Whipstitch: Agreed. And while we're at it, we can start msging around and find out if its any of our people who've been tossing the wards up. (5:07:32 PM) Frank Trollman: Various people put up lolcats about having not warded things. (5:07:49 PM) Cthuludreams: ideally scope will turn up for that bit too ;) (5:08:00 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah... Kind of figured so, or at least not all of them would be friendly wards. (5:08:04 PM) Cthuludreams: I'll ditch my current sprite and summon a rating 5 machine sprite. (5:08:07 PM) Whipstitch: They take a while to put up, after all. (5:08:20 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, and my guardian's back in tow. (5:08:37 PM) kzt: The closet with a ward has me kind of interested.... (5:09:15 PM) kzt: I think we should look at that as we go by. (5:09:18 PM) Frank Trollman: @All I IZ WAITING FOR WARD DOES U HAV A MONEYS? (5:09:48 PM) Cthuludreams: 6 sucesses on the binding test, 3 sucesses on soaking drain (5:09:48 PM) Frank Trollman: It's affixed to a blackberry cat looking expectant. (5:10:01 PM) Frank Trollman: Binding? (5:10:05 PM) Cthuludreams: .. (5:10:09 PM) Cthuludreams: compiling. (5:10:29 PM) Cthuludreams: *prepares to take a million stun* (5:10:50 PM) Frank Trollman: You get 3 tasks, and suffer 2 fading. (5:10:54 PM) kzt: A blackbery cat? what the... (5:11:09 PM) Frank Trollman: It's a magical lolcatz. (5:11:15 PM) Frank Trollman: People do that in the future. (5:11:23 PM) Whipstitch: Nice. (5:11:35 PM) kzt: I know what is is, I'm just a bit stunned. (5:11:52 PM) Frank Trollman: It's the text message equivalent of talking in exageratedly slow speech. (5:11:55 PM) Cthuludreams: who sent the message? (5:12:16 PM) Whipstitch: I suppose since Watchers can actually project 2-d pictures you could literally send msgs like that all day if you were magically active. (5:12:25 PM) kzt: Computer, do we have any catnip? (5:12:29 PM) Whipstitch: Which, while amusing, hits me as kind of depressing on a few levels (5:13:30 PM) Frank Trollman: That was apparently Dr. Praetorius. (5:13:47 PM) kzt: Um, does someone want to talk to the cat? (5:13:56 PM) Whipstitch: I think you should have that honor. (5:13:58 PM) Frank Trollman: It's just a picture of a cat. (5:14:07 PM) Frank Trollman: It comes in on AR. (5:14:23 PM) kzt: Dr. Praetorius has catnip... Hmm. (5:14:24 PM) Cthuludreams: Dr praetorius has sent you a lolcat in a 2070 matrix meme (5:14:32 PM) Cthuludreams: presumably because she is annoying. (5:14:35 PM) Frank Trollman: An actual blackberry cat on the base would be a severe threat. (5:14:48 PM) kzt: Oh, I though you meant we opened the door and found a blackberry cat. (5:15:08 PM) Frank Trollman: Oh no. Lolcatz are entirely different from real cats. (5:15:42 PM) Frank Trollman: They are like this: (5:15:43 PM) Frank Trollman: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/203/4830245..._7ffc54c6fb.jpg (5:16:06 PM) Whipstitch: Oh, god, if it had been an actual blackberry cat I would have Ahnold ventilate it with a laser rifle already. (5:16:11 PM) kzt: That didn'e make me overjoyed.... (5:16:37 PM) kzt: They can be really cool, or really deadly... (5:17:35 PM) kzt: They make great pets.... (5:17:51 PM) Whipstitch: More like business partners or flatmates, lol (5:18:05 PM) kzt: Until they get angry and make you walk off the top of a building or something. (5:18:21 PM) Cthuludreams: rofl (5:18:23 PM) Whipstitch: Or, at least that's how respectful I'd be. (5:18:35 PM) Cthuludreams: you respect your flatates?! ;) (5:18:47 PM) Frank Trollman: I respect my flat mates. (5:19:04 PM) Frank Trollman: I respect them enough to borrow money and pay it back. (5:19:20 PM) Frank Trollman: Who all is going to the water aeration unit? (5:19:20 PM) Whipstitch: I respect them slightly more than I respect my house cats, yeah. (5:19:41 PM) Whipstitch: I've never shoved one off the couch, anyway. (5:19:46 PM) kzt: I guess the 3 of us, plus my drone (5:19:47 PM) Narse: "I volunteer." (5:19:48 PM) Cthuludreams: Both of those things are entirely like the people I've had the (mis) fortune to share a place with ;) (5:20:00 PM) Whipstitch: A black berry cat could suddenly hit you with the sudden urge to walk into heavy traffic in retaliation. (5:20:16 PM) Cthuludreams: anyways (5:20:28 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, I'll go with too. (5:20:41 PM) Cthuludreams: I'll round up the gun drones and come along too. (5:21:18 PM) Frank Trollman: Well, the door to the room is shut. (5:21:24 PM) Frank Trollman: And sealed. (5:21:31 PM) kzt: Sealed, how? (5:21:46 PM) Frank Trollman: The maglock isn't responding to electrical power. (5:21:57 PM) Frank Trollman: And the door is in the upright and locked position. (5:22:07 PM) kzt: Astrally project into the room a bit. (5:22:22 PM) Frank Trollman: Assensing test. (5:22:24 PM) kzt: Just enoug hto see (5:23:17 PM) kzt: 5 successes.... Why couldn't I get that in combat? (5:24:01 PM) Whipstitch: I wouldn't question it too much; technically you fared better against the gorgon than you did the space lobsters ; ) (5:24:20 PM) Cthuludreams: space lobsters? (5:24:41 PM) Whipstitch: Whatever crustaceans they were that messed him up earlier. I forget; it's been a while. (5:24:43 PM) kzt: True, that's when I learned not to the HtH wit hthem. (5:24:45 PM) Frank Trollman: OK, well you'll be happy to learn that it's not a technomancer. (5:25:02 PM) Whipstitch: 3 gorgons? (5:25:03 PM) kzt: Giant shark? (5:25:10 PM) Frank Trollman: Sea Anenome. (5:25:29 PM) kzt: A dueal natrued one? (5:25:30 PM) Whipstitch: Heh. You should hear my brother try and say that sometime. (5:25:46 PM) Frank Trollman: It's on the wall, it has tentacles protruded into the astral and waving around. (5:25:50 PM) Frank Trollman: It is malign. (5:26:04 PM) Frank Trollman: Also, there's an alchera trying to form. (5:26:15 PM) kzt: Pull out of the room! (5:26:22 PM) Frank Trollman: Looks like a statue of a man with long arms. (5:26:38 PM) kzt: Update everyone. (5:26:40 PM) Frank Trollman: It's partially into the aeration device. (5:27:00 PM) kzt: So the room was completely flooded? (5:27:12 PM) Frank Trollman: Probably causes spillage at the apex of its erratic phase ins. (5:27:16 PM) Frank Trollman: And yes it is. (5:27:42 PM) kzt: Ok, no tank this time. How do we want to do this? (5:27:59 PM) Cthuludreams: I have 4 gun drones with guns? (5:27:59 PM) Whipstitch: Hrm, well, we have to deal with the water at some point, although there's the astral option as well. (5:28:21 PM) Whipstitch: and a spirit with a laser rifle, but i'm not sure how well they'd work in water. (5:28:40 PM) Frank Trollman: Not nearly as full of water as you'd expect based on how much water has been diverted out of the system. (5:28:44 PM) kzt: I can open the door, but I'd rather not flood the floor. (5:28:45 PM) Whipstitch: I doubt the drones are really adapted for water and I doubt a laser would go through water easily without difracting (5:29:00 PM) Cthuludreams: I actually meant lasering the door (5:29:05 PM) Whipstitch: ah. (5:29:07 PM) Cthuludreams: which would let all the water out. (5:29:10 PM) Cthuludreams: then lasering it. (5:29:13 PM) kzt: Computer, can you turn off the water flow into aeration? (5:29:24 PM) Frank Trollman: YES (5:29:36 PM) Cthuludreams: Is that lethal? (5:29:46 PM) Whipstitch: I doubt it would be immediately. (5:30:13 PM) Whipstitch: Hell, probably should have done it earlier. *shrug* but we probably can't leave it that way for long unless we plan on staying in the sealed suits for god knows how long. (5:30:25 PM) Frank Trollman: AS LONG AS AERATION 1 IS OPERATIONAL THE INCREASED ANAEROBICS THREATS CAN BE COUNTERED WITH ADDITIONAL RADIATION (5:30:35 PM) kzt: Ok, we turn off the water flow into the room, drill a drain inot hte room and drain the water into a floor drain soemwhere, like a janitor closet. (5:30:57 PM) kzt: That should make the anomone a bit uncomfortale. (5:31:04 PM) Frank Trollman: Laser drilling? (5:31:05 PM) Cthuludreams: Or we could just turn it off, leave it alone and bust into the gate and set things on fire there? (5:31:46 PM) kzt: Laser, hole saw, whatever. (5:32:02 PM) Cthuludreams: though wrecking the anemoe will probably stop the alchera? so that might be a good idea. (5:32:11 PM) kzt: How far to the nearest drain? (5:33:33 PM) Frank Trollman: There's a drain every 3 meters. (5:34:01 PM) kzt: Oh, so if we let water out is will just flow into the drain without the need fro piping? (5:34:02 PM) Frank Trollman: There's supposed to be 4 in the actual aeration room, but they aren't working. (5:34:29 PM) Frank Trollman: Well, it will mostly do that. (5:34:37 PM) Frank Trollman: Someone will eventually have to mop. (5:36:10 PM) kzt: Ok, my plan is to get a hole saw and drill a 4 cm hole near the bottom of the door. Seem OK? (5:36:23 PM) Whipstitch: Sure. (5:36:45 PM) kzt: That should lower the water level fairly fast without flooding the corridor. (5:37:00 PM) Cthuludreams: yeah thats a good pan. (5:37:11 PM) Cthuludreams: we could even use a laser as a cutter for much the same effect (5:37:25 PM) Cthuludreams: once it drills through it will just pour steam everywhere. (5:37:29 PM) Frank Trollman: a 4cm hole is act |

Part 4:
Note: no disconnect for this break. [ Spoiler ] (5:37:52 PM) Frank Trollman: You'd probably rather make a couple of smaller ones.
(5:38:01 PM) Frank Trollman: But in any case, you have engineers. (5:38:28 PM) kzt: Ok, how about we star drilling 1.5 cm holes with a laser then? (5:39:00 PM) Cthuludreams: Use the lzer rifle. (5:39:19 PM) kzt: Ok with me. (5:39:36 PM) Frank Trollman: K. (5:39:36 PM) Whipstitch: eh... It does have a limited number amount of shots. I really don't see the point if we can just use tools. (5:39:45 PM) Whipstitch: but it doesn't particularly matter to me, I suppose. (5:39:56 PM) Frank Trollman: Water comes poring out. (5:40:04 PM) Frank Trollman: The laser is also rechargable. (5:40:50 PM) Cthuludreams: well if we have a lzer cutter in the tool kit grab that, or just find a power point I guess. (5:41:19 PM) Whipstitch: eh, we just cut it with the laser and move on as frank said, it's not a big deal. (5:41:50 PM) Frank Trollman: As the water comes out, make perception (visual) tests. (5:41:55 PM) kzt: Anyhow wait for the water to slow down... (5:42:33 PM) kzt: 2 sucesses (5:42:59 PM) Cthuludreams: 1 sucess (5:43:02 PM) Cthuludreams: (9 dice grr) (5:43:05 PM) Whipstitch: one sec... I really need to write down my visual pool. It's stupidly high, lemme double check (5:43:22 PM) Whipstitch: 5 hits (5:43:53 PM) Frank Trollman: OK, there are little anenomes coming out, going down the drain. (5:43:58 PM) Whipstitch: I spent over 20k on my cybereyes, in case you guys were wondering : P (5:44:03 PM) Cthuludreams: shit. (5:44:12 PM) Cthuludreams: oh wait. (5:44:21 PM) kzt: THat's bad. Block the water. (5:44:27 PM) Cthuludreams: can we just tell the computer to amp u the rads on the radiation supply? (5:44:30 PM) Whipstitch: actually, check that, they were 34k. (5:44:44 PM) Frank Trollman: You can tell the computer to do that. (5:45:26 PM) kzt: Also tell the computer the water gonig into drain xyz is contaminted with some sort of lifeform. (5:45:27 PM) Whipstitch: I'd tell it to do that, and if you've guys got Industrial mechanics we can weld the holes shut again if we need to, but lord knows the supply's borked already anyway if that thing is in there. (5:46:33 PM) Cthuludreams: who manages the water supply, she's still alive right? (5:46:51 PM) Whipstitch: Michelle (5:46:53 PM) Frank Trollman: Michelle Wan, and yes. (5:46:55 PM) Whipstitch: And yeah, she's alive last I heard. (5:47:05 PM) Cthuludreams: Lets just ask her what to do. (5:47:08 PM) kzt: Damn, maybe we do need to kill it astrally first. (5:48:20 PM) Whipstitch: I'd like to say that we could probably do that but the Gorgon kind of gives me pause now. (5:48:45 PM) kzt: Could you somon a spirit to kill it? (5:49:28 PM) Whipstitch: I guess we could try bringing my Force 3 guardian in with us on the astral for back up. (5:50:00 PM) Cthuludreams: @Michelle: Weird minuture alien sea anemoes are pouring into the water supply: Can you kill them without posioning us? (5:50:24 PM) Whipstitch: My summoning pool is only 9 on a good day though; I'm not really an uber summoner, so high force gets dicey since there's no guarantee I'll get the net hits (5:50:28 PM) kzt: I'm assumng we've blocked the holes for now... (5:51:19 PM) Frank Trollman: Michelle: "What kind of mutant alien sea anenomes?" (5:51:30 PM) Frank Trollman: Sure. (5:51:33 PM) kzt: I have this f3 air spirt who can try to get it too. (5:52:03 PM) kzt: I'm not sure a stunbolt would work on something like that. (5:52:16 PM) Whipstitch: I don't see why it wouldn't. (5:52:21 PM) kzt: But it's lighting bolts probably would. (5:52:32 PM) Cthuludreams: @Wan: If I knew that, I'd understand the secret of the universe. In the mean time, assume something fairly hard to kill, but guns, exploisions and lasers definately work - can you improvise something? (5:52:50 PM) Whipstitch: its body/physical track is likely comparable to its will track anyway. (5:52:56 PM) kzt: Can you knock out soemthing without a CNS? (5:53:30 PM) Whipstitch: Eh, I didn't think of that. But stunbolts can certainly be amped up to being fatal. And I can always try dealing physical on the astral. (5:54:48 PM) Frank Trollman: Michelle: "We could osmotically filter all the water. That would suck, but it would work... (5:54:56 PM) kzt: I'm just not sure lighting bolts in that room are the best idea I've had all day. (5:55:18 PM) Cthuludreams: @Wan: Suck, like, how? (5:55:30 PM) Whipstitch: We'd probably lose some of our supply... (5:56:47 PM) kzt: I can't really do anything other then stunbolt it. (5:56:51 PM) Frank Trollman: Well it would be slow. (5:57:15 PM) Frank Trollman: Our total water supply would be the same, but the amount we could filter each day would be less. (5:57:30 PM) Cthuludreams: @Wan: Survivable? (5:57:39 PM) Frank Trollman: We'd need to go on level 4 rationing for anything we didn't mind having tentacles in. (5:58:19 PM) Frank Trollman: So we could still spray walls with impunity, but we'd be on five minute showers ourselves. (5:58:20 PM) Cthuludreams: @Wan: Can you tell the computer that tentancled things are going down the drain, poison them as best you can with radation or whatever, and get the filtration kick started? (5:58:45 PM) Frank Trollman: Ugh... yes." Michelle begins swearing. (5:59:27 PM) kzt: I don't have a good plan, do we want to just go for it? (5:59:39 PM) Cthuludreams: Lets just blow the door off, stand back and then frag it to all get out (5:59:43 PM) Whipstitch: Sure, provided Frank's still up for it; been playing for a while now. (6:00:05 PM) kzt: Equipment in the room is needed. (6:00:17 PM) Frank Trollman: I'm honestly passing out at this point. (6:00:24 PM) Cthuludreams: okay lets call it a day. (6:00:28 PM) Cthuludreams: good game everyone :) (6:00:29 PM) kzt: Ok, lets' call in here then. (6:00:33 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, that's what I figured. (6:00:47 PM) Frank Trollman: OK good night all. (6:00:53 PM) kzt: That was fun, thanks! (6:00:55 PM) Frank Trollman: Have a merry sunday. (6:01:33 PM) Cthuludreams: you too (6:01:40 PM) kzt: Thanks. (6:02:05 PM) Frank Trollman left the room. (6:02:14 PM) Cthuludreams: tank was hilarious (6:02:49 PM) Whipstitch: hrm? (6:02:59 PM) Cthuludreams: the tank vs gorgon was funny (6:03:03 PM) Cthuludreams: the entire tank was funny (6:03:04 PM) kzt: Yes. (6:03:20 PM) Cthuludreams: the entire gorgon thing was pretty funny too (6:03:23 PM) kzt: Lets go in and kil the gorgon... That didnt work out... (6:03:59 PM) Whipstitch: Sure it did. (6:04:27 PM) Whipstitch: You have to take some risks now and again. And the power level of a gorgon was pretty much up in the air. (6:04:31 PM) Cthuludreams: yeah (6:05:01 PM) Cthuludreams: it wasn;t a bad plan, but outcomes were humour (6:05:02 PM) Cthuludreams: ous (6:05:22 PM) kzt: Run away!!!!! (6:05:42 PM) Whipstitch: *shrugs* depends on how much it had left on its stun track. (6:06:07 PM) kzt: Sorry, I couldn't roll anything useful. (6:06:19 PM) Cthuludreams: *grins* (6:06:21 PM) Cthuludreams: life goes on (6:06:37 PM) Cthuludreams: I have made some fucking stupid character design decisions with reginn (6:06:47 PM) kzt: Like what? (6:06:51 PM) Cthuludreams: gunnery 1? (6:06:58 PM) Cthuludreams: though I was counting on catharz alot (6:07:06 PM) Cthuludreams: or having a machine sprite ready to go (6:07:25 PM) Whipstitch: My only outright stupid skill is binding, which I only have at 2. (6:07:37 PM) kzt: What happened the him anyhow? (6:07:38 PM) Whipstitch: But then, I don't plan on binding anything higher than force 4 at most. (6:07:43 PM) Whipstitch: Computer went boom. (6:07:48 PM) Cthuludreams: he got drunk and smashed his computer (6:07:52 PM) Cthuludreams: I'm not even joking. (6:08:04 PM) kzt: I have summong I and binding nothing. (6:08:34 PM) Whipstitch: That's what happened? I know his computer wasn't working but, yeesh. (6:08:43 PM) kzt: LoL... Sir, unlpug you computer and drip it out the window.. now. (6:08:57 PM) Cthuludreams: yeah I don't want to know the decision process behind that. (6:09:28 PM) kzt: I think that might be dignifying th event.... (6:10:23 PM) Cthuludreams: yeah I'm assuming it's something 'rawr, drunk moron smash' but.. yeah (6:10:48 PM) kzt: Oopps. (6:12:04 PM) Cthuludreams: hving laughed at catharz (6:12:09 PM) Cthuludreams: where dide scope go this game? (6:12:27 PM) kzt: Sick I think. (6:12:31 PM) Whipstitch: Probably just too sick, yeah. (6:13:25 PM) kzt: I want to kill the damn thing before we open the door and flood the corridor. (6:14:18 PM) kzt: I guess a water elemental might help? (6:14:25 PM) Cthuludreams: probably (6:14:34 PM) Cthuludreams: we could also just boil all the water with lasers as it comes out (6:14:47 PM) Cthuludreams: side bonus of that is it will probably kill the mini anemoes (6:14:48 PM) kzt: I just have such awful results on these tests. (6:14:50 PM) Whipstitch: It might. As far as the astral goes it doesn't really matter what type; they're all really the same there unless they have magical guard or innate spell power. (6:15:09 PM) Cthuludreams: or just boil the water with lasers with it in it. (6:15:14 PM) Whipstitch: I usually only take a skill if I'm going to have a pool of 9+ or so or else I don't bother. (6:15:35 PM) kzt: I figure firebolts wont help under water and lighting bolts kind of suck too. (6:15:50 PM) Cthuludreams: (is scope sick?) (6:15:55 PM) kzt: I took it beuse I can't default. (6:16:03 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, scope's ill. (6:16:15 PM) Cthuludreams: explains that. (6:16:18 PM) kzt: She said sh just got up at 3pm... (6:16:29 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah, I took more lower level skills than I usually do because they're cheap under frank's rules. (6:16:30 PM) kzt: And then faded out. (6:16:40 PM) Whipstitch: And I took binding because you tend to do that only under ideal conditions. (6:17:12 PM) Whipstitch: As a general rule I look at a dice pool and ask "will this let me perform even if I've been shot a time or two and it's dark out?" (6:17:22 PM) Whipstitch: if the answer's no I generally don't go with a skill. (6:20:54 PM) kzt: Anyhow I think we need to slay the anemone and mess up the thing comeing in to fix the water system. Then do soemthing about the gate. (6:21:45 PM) Whipstitch: Yeah; did we ever get michelle to the water system proper? I can't remember. (6:21:53 PM) Whipstitch: I think I just pulled out and got you stim patched. (6:22:04 PM) kzt: She's in the the cafe. (6:24:10 PM) Whipstitch: Right, but has she actually gotten a chance to do work on the main water system? I can't really remember. (6:24:29 PM) Cthuludreams: don;t think so, not properly (6:24:35 PM) kzt: No. I don't think so. We are too busy firefighting. (6:25:07 PM) kzt: We should have warded the hell out of the base. Too late now... (6:25:59 PM) Cthuludreams: yup (6:26:10 PM) Whipstitch: Wards take forever to put up though and they're unresistable drain. (6:27:16 PM) kzt: True. We have to deal with the gate soon. And get ready to stop them from dealing with us. (6:31:06 PM) Cthuludreams: yeah, thats going to be... intresting (6:31:46 PM) Whipstitch: Hopefully we can have a near full group for that. (6:31:47 PM) kzt: It would be good if we had at least 4 PCs, if not all 5. (6:32:38 PM) kzt: I dont think that blowing up our side of the gate will work, we need to do something more, on the other side. (6:36:29 PM) kzt: Anybody want to volunteer for log duty? (6:36:41 PM) Narse: sure (6:36:47 PM) Narse: I can post one (6:37:02 PM) kzt: Ok. Thanks. (6:37:18 PM) kzt: I think I'll go get something to eat now. (6:38:31 PM) Whipstitch: later (6:38:40 PM) kzt: Bye! (6:38:50 PM) kzt left the room. (6:40:52 PM) Narse: see you all later. |

Problem: the power is out in my flat and I probably will not be able to be on line tomorrow night. Hopefully this will resolve itself.

Word today was that that Frank had some totally bizarre issue that prevented him from running AIM. Plus the various dumpshock issues. . . . We'll see.

Thread necro due to feelings of severe lack of closure. This was a great little Event Horizon campaign that I really wanted to know what was going to happen next in. Any chance of continuation (highly doubtful) or a synopsized conclusion of how things might have turned out?
Also, was this a published adventure or did Frank just come up with it? Because it's terrific and since I may be getting back into Shadowrun, I'd love to run it with my group. Thanks. |
