No wonder my essence costs seemed high!

A temp fix for everyone until someone works out the underlying cause. Change the formula in row E to

=IF($A6="","",IF(VLOOKUP($A6,Complete_Ware_Table,2,FALSE)<>"Cyber",0,(VLOOKUP($A6,Complete_Ware_Table,3,FALSE))*(IF($C6="",1,(VLOOKUP($C6,Grade2,2,FALSE)))+Cyber_Essence_Reduction))*(IF($B6="",1,IF(ISERROR(FIND("E",VLOOKUP($A6,Complete_Ware_Table,5,FALSE))),$B6,1)))/2)

thats a total bodgy fix until someone can figure out the problem.

I think your posted formula will only work for row 6. Also I don't think it will solve the problem with the alphaware costs. (and beta- and delta-). I think the formula fix should be to subtract the original value of the essence cost (the standard cost) of course if you knew that you could just calculate the essence costs based off of that....
Note: Sensitive system (and I am assuming the other essence affecting qualities from Augmentation) doubles the essence cost as it should, but on its own line in the totaling section of the spreadsheet. (I therefore suspect that the glitch isn't quality related)

Oh yeah, change the first row of col E to that, then use the excel 'formula drag' to copy it down the entire Col, that will fix the entire Col by incrementing the values as required.

Also, it correctly does alpha/beta/delta costs. (try it!)

It's just a not very elegant way of doing it, but it does behave correctly in the cases I tested.

Doh! Somehow an old version of the formula got put in there; the one that doesn't properly handle the addition vs multiplication issue.

I'll have it fixed and uploaded in a few minutes. Sorry about that, I know I tested it before I sent it, so I'm not sure how I missed that. It's okay, I know what the formula should be, because I already wrote it once and had it working. Must have accidentally grabbed an older copy during one of the updates.

As a bonus, I've got some experimental karma calculations on the sheet now too!

It should be fixed now. Sorry to all those of you who downloaded it with such a big bug. I know I checked the results of that formula at some point before zipping it up and posting it, but I must have made some change to it afterwards to revert it.

I guess my quality control process needs a bit of work. But then, with a toddler and an infant, both of whom like to "help" daddy type, that's not a surprise...

New version is linked in the first post, as always.

What a surprise, I've found another error in the sheet that's still a holdover from draft 5. The transgenic costs are twice what they should be, unless "Multipliers are handled additively" is checked.

Also, somehow the draft that got saved was one where I was only halfway through the karma cost section, and it's blank.

I've got a fixed sheet, I'll upload it again soon. Anyone else have any bugs to chime in about, so I can fix those too before I do?

Allowing to delete cyberwear by backspacing when you want to clear up the sheet would be nice. :)

Done!

Also, fixed the error I previously mentioned, and fixed the karma cost section to work. Hopefully, I didn't accidentally revert anything else in the sheet this time!

Draft 6 is linked in the first post, as usual.

Um sorry to point this out after you went and fixed stuff again, but:
I noticed that the formulas for the bonuses due to adept powers are not the same for each row. The first row is different (and seems to work properly). In the rest of the rows I just get "####" in each of the columns. This in turn causes (I think) the augmented stats display on the main page to display "###" for each of the physical stats, there is also an entry right next to the augmented stats column (I believe it is normally where you kept track of extra dice for damage resistance) that displays something like "Error: 502."

Thanks for the great sheet otherwise!

That's very odd, since I haven't changed any of the magic sheets that I can recall. I'll look into it though.

Edit: Yep, those formulas are different, and apparently they were different in the copy I downloaded. It doesn't look like a bug, exactly -- the only difference is whether zeros are displayed as spaces, or as zeros. It's just an aesthetic thing, but I'll try to clean that up too. I haven't been able to reproduce the bug, though -- which adept power were you using? And which version of excel?

@Narse
Excel sometimes hides information behind pound signs (#) when there's not enough room in a column to display the full information. Try increasing the width of the columns with the #'s in them and see if that clears things up.

I'm using OpenOffice 2.3. All the fields that were previously "###" resolved into "Err:502" when I expanded the column width. So that includes the bonuses' fields on the adept power sheet (it doesn't seem to vary with power, all the powers I used outside of the first row give the same result) the modified attributes column for all physical attributes on the main sheet as well as the fields for initiative, IPs and damage resistance bonuses. Note that of the adept powers, those powers that should populate those fields (improved physical attribute, improved reflexes, mystic armor [I tested all of these, and all of the powers sequentially until the ones starting with I]) do populate the appropriate fields with the proper number (improved reflexes 3 puts a 3 in reaction and a 3 in IPs), but the rest of the columns still list "Err: 502".

Hope this helps.

Note: the zero's display as spaces in the first row on my sheet.

Okay, this looks like a difference in the way OpenOffice handles the VLOOKUP command. In Excel, if the cell looked up is blank, it returns 0. In OO, however, it returns error 502 instead. That affects the main sheet too, as when you add some number to an error, you get the error.

I'll use the same formula that is in the top row of the adept power list (the one that displays blank spaces instead of 0's) in the rest of the rows. This should fix your problem. I could also fill in all the blank cells in the adept list with 0, but I like the blank spaces better, personally.

I've got another correction to make; currently Type O is being applied to cultured bioware. I'll make those two changes and upload yet another draft when I'm done.

I think it was being applied to genetech too, when I tried it a few days ago.

Yes, it was.

I've completely changed the formula to calculate bio essence cost. It *should* handle all situations better now. Of course, because I re-wrote it, I probably messed something up doing it, so keep an eye out for errors in the bioware essence cost.

Draft 7 is now up with the new bioware cost which should handle any combination of Type O System, bioware grade, cultured / basic / genetech, and Biocompatability (bioware) appropriately.

It also should fix the problem Narse was having in OO. (Narse, let me know -- I don't have OO to test it here.)

Edit:

Okay, so I missed one. Biocompatability (which I forgot to clear off the sheet) is being applied to gene tech. I'll see about fixing that...

Okay, Draft 8 is now up, with genetech properly excluded from the list of bioware that is affected by grades, Type O, or Biocompatability. It is still affected by "Sensitive System" -- but I feel that is appropriate. Enjoy, and keep an eye out for more bugs.

Sensitive System actually only affects the Essence cost of Cyberware, not Bioware or Geneware in any way.

Love this spreadsheet. Awesome job to all who contributed to this! I'm certainly no Excel wizard like the rest of you, but I have made a couple modifications. First, I added Submersion and Max Resonance cells to the Technomancer worksheet. The Max Resonance cell will add the Submersion cell results to the result of cell B1. The formula I used was =IF(Technomancer!B1=Main_Sheet!M11,B1+G1, "")

You can see the screenshot here:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Ang...r_Worksheet.png

I also modifed the gear worksheet to include specific information for weapons, explosives, armor, and equipment. I made a small change to the formula in the cell for total gear cost. The new formula is =SUM(A2:A31)+SUM(E2:E16)+SUM(E18:E24)+SUM(E26:E31)

I don't know how to add gear to drop down menus like you have with skills on the main sheet. If you can teach me, I would be willing to do it.

You can see the screenshot here:

...mmmmmm Explosives. :grinbig:

Looks good, finally a gear list I won't run out of lines on.

One possible adjustment. Maybe take part of the weapons list & designate it for Weapon Accessories and extra ammo. This way it will be right there with the character's guns & such and not use up lines from the general gear list.

Also a place to record Armour Mods such as Chem Treatment, Non Conductive etc. would be helpful.
