Fortune/DTF/Callidus - please let me know where you're positioned in relation to the 'Arena'. OOC is fine, IC posting for those of you *CoughDT/CallidusCough* who didn't would be even better.

Oh, going back to last week, we'd discussed posting character sheets. I'd given the OK, and Fortune had mentioned being dismayed about the sheets being in another thread. The reason for that being that there's no other way to get all the sheets into an easy to find and convenient place in the first page of the OOC. What I had proposed was putting them in the Cast of Shadows Sticky at the top of the Welcome to the Shadows forum, then inserting a link to each 'sheet' in my first post in the OOC thread, where it lists all the players. Let me know what you guys want to do.

I hate the Cast Of Shadows Icky! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)
As to Claymore's positioning, I thought I laid it out in my last IC post. He is astride his bike as close as possible to where the leaders pulled up and/or gathered at the start of the challenge. He didn't move, or jockey for position like some fledgling pledgling. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Perception test will be in IC. Claymore was too wrapped up in being left out of half of what's going on to be actively watching for cheating ... by either party. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

*blink* The internet must have eaten my post or something. I totally tried to submit one some time ago detailing Haven's ride and reaction to the speech. Well, crap, I'll go repost something close to it. Gah!
EDIT: Also, if it's ok, I'm going to roll with my own dice. Invisible Castle doesn't react well to my decreased bandwidth when my roommate torrents and I finally got to play in real life again this weekend and it reminded me how much I like rolling dice. |

It's not my fault Fisty made his post asking for my die rolls an hour after I went to sleep! Sorry for the delay, fellas. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Oh, and for the record, yes I know it's very very stupid to take off your armor right before a big fight (especially in an RPG, with armor that doesn't actually slow you down any). But, well, screw it. I figure (a) realistically, racing at each other at those speeds, one good hit is gonna kill ya any freakin' way (the crash if not the speed-enhanced wound itself), and (b) if you're gonna be a berserker raised in the Cuchulain tradition, sometimes you gotta get half naked and do this shit right.

Actually, I don't think it's stupid at all. The joust is a crap shoot, but if you win, the respect and honor you earn from such a move is irreplaceable. It is quite fitting within the bounds of both the Ancients and the Tir philosophies, in my opinion.

Dudes, you guys have an awesome game going. I've never seen a game that was so in-depth with exploring your characters before, and the culture they live in. Critias, I like that your staying in character, despite the fact that metagame you know it might wind up costing you. I like that you've got your players at a point where they can start coming together as a cohesive group. It's nice, seeing a shadowrun game that's not even really a shadowrun game run right. Just my two cents worth ^_^

Sorry about the delay, been of a full weekend, and picked up a bad habit of not checking DS at the weekends as it has seemed quiet/dead over the weekends before... will try to kick that into submission though.... the habit not DS.... I wish *8->

Oh, and for the record, yes I know it's very very stupid to take off your armor right before a big fight (especially in an RPG, with armor that doesn't actually slow you down any). Playing IC is more important than playing "intelligently" IMO. You'll get bonuses for that later, including, as Fortuna mentioned, RPing bonuses (assuming you live). Fortune - Today's my daughter's 8th birthday. My little girl wins out over you every time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) DT- Rolling your own dice is fine. Just please list out the die rolls. |

Crit, with a third Initiative pass, you can get to the end faster, turn back around, and come back at her while she's still getting turned back around, meaning she'll be facing the -2 modifier.
Sure it doesn't really make a lot of sense that having faster reaction should have you go faster, but it can be reflected as making that hairpin turn and whipping back around (assuming you make your Handling roll), then getting back out there without a lot of loss in speed. |

Sounds handy, but we'll just have to see how it goes, I guess. *he shrugs and grins* I'll play it by ear, depending on how init and junk falls together.

Posted back at'cha. Just as a heads up, I'm on for maybe thirty or forty five minutes right now (woke up early to take the dogs out), then I'll have to finish getting ready for work, drive in, yadda yadda, so after that it'll be probably an hour or so before I'm back on.

Despite how many initiative passes you might or might not have, you can still only move the same speed in a combat round. You just get to split it up more and take more actions. A bike still has the same acceleration/max speed unless you're a decker pushing it beyond its natural limits. We went over this with my speed-based adept, even though he had 4 initiative passes and could make 4 movement actions he could still only move his base modified speed during those four actions. Hope that helps some |

THe bike can easily cover the full 100 metes in a combat turn (SUzuki Mirage's speed is 200). So with a sufficent handling test, which he got, he can cover the length of the field and be almost back again within one full turn. Which is essentially what he did.
Phase 1: Up to speed - Complex Action Handling Bike Phase 2: Melee exchange at appx 50 meters, leaving 150 meters of 'speed' left, as the Speed listing is how many meters it can cover in a combat round. Phase 3: Back around with a 180 hairpin turn, would take off some of the distance since he's got to slow somewhat and whip around Round 2: Exchange blows with Vixen somewhere arond 15-20 meters off of her new starting line, where Tain was originally. |

Off topic (as combats go), but I'm leaning towards Kinesics for that floating .5 a PP I've got. It's too late now, of course, and it sure would've come in handy about twenty minutes ago in-game, but, hey. That's life for ya. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I could see kinesics for a gryphon follower. Depends on how much you're planning on putting into the social aspects, but so far it seems acceptable.
I got Fortune's revised char sheet (Will get to you with questions in "a while" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ). Crit, once you're sure on what you want to revise, post Arsenal, let me know. Anyone helping Chris out with his rigger stuff yet? Chris, any revisions you're working on after Arsenal? I assume Callidus is good on his character (since you haven't said anything). Any/all revisions already set up will come into effect after the Challenge. Crit, since you've got some time at work, are you set on what you want to revise yet? I'm ok with giving another day or two, but if I don't set a dead line, Fortune will keep coming with the revisions. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

I've kind of been going mad with school over the last few days, I can probably finish it off tonight, maybe tomorrow night. School is kind a bitch right now, Fortune has helped me out somewhat, and the rest I'm just going to play by ear and hope you don't rape any openings I leave too hard.

Didn't notice that bit about your little girl's birthday -- happy (belated) birthday to her from me, too.
And I'm all locked in with revisions (as per that PM) as far as the manuevers I'm buying, the martial arts edges to add, etc...except for that .5 PP to swap in for Quick Draw (since I replaced that with the Krava Maga thingamajigger). I'm leaning towards Kinesics right now, but since I'm a madman a single glance at the adept grimoire can change my mind. I'll let you know in a day or two, though, promise. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) And I'm not helping out with rigger stuff, because I'd have no idea what I was talking about. No advice is better than wrong advice. |

Yeah, happy birthday to your daughter. Oh, and Critias, Monowhips are 8P no matter what strength you have with a -4AP. So, really deadly, also can remove limbs on a critical success or critical failure. I almost had Haven with one, but I went with clubs because they are more versatile. I forgot that I went with clubs because I planned on pumping his strength earlier. Actually, I may drop STR slightly and go with a monowhip since I haven't REALLY finished yet. Come to think of it, monowhips fit the vicious madman motif relatively well, I would say. Hmm, another thing to consider when I am finally finalizing this character. I have no idea why it is taking so long to finish Haven, I finished my more complex character for Doc's game(that fell through) in much less time. I guess because I've come to really see Haven as a person and it is hard to fine tune him down, because I can't quite squeeze all I see in him in. Which is good, leaves room for advancement and whatnot, but still.
Chris EDIT: Also, I am really familiar with mages, which is what he was, whereas cyber/rigger/ganger/madmen has never really been a part of my stable before now. |
