I'm trying not to think about this anymore. Gives me massive headaches that even downing a 200 ct bottle of Advil at once won't relieve.

Well, early could be January, Febuary, March, or April (first 4 months early, then next 4 are mid, last 4 are late). But who knows if that is what they ment. But I do agree, I've been waiting for this one for a while, right up there with Augmentation for me. Would be nice to at least have a soft release date of some kind now that we are on this side of '08

www.catalystgamelabs.com

So, it should be out before march. Early 2008 does not mean "First two weeks in January" is means "Sometime early in the year."

Keep an eye on there..that is supposed to be the most accurate site, with anything anywhere else being hear-say. ;)

Yeah, but the order of release for Arsenal and Augmentation was switched.

Which makes sense, while guns and vehicles are important, there is a heck of alot more to them(like making sure everything is nice and varied) as opposed to the stuff in Augmentation. That, and, lets face it, part of the cyberpunk genre is the cyber. So, thematically, considering most of the same guns have been around in SR for years, the most new, bleeding edge stuff that would add the chrome into things would be Augmentation.

This is incorrect, writing on Unwired is complete and the book is currently in final playtesting and editing.

Personally, I think they got the release order pretty much right (after the shuffle). Magic and then Augmentation, followed by Tech and the Matrix (hopefully in quick succession).

I have high hopes for Unwired. Maybe it can make some order out of the chaos that are the standard Matrix rules. It really is getting ridiculous when "house rules" for the Matrix involves rewriting the entire section of the book.

Core books sell better than supplements. Companies can afford to make larger print runs (which drops costs per book) and can risk lower profit margins per unit. Modern economics essentially subsidizes core material.

That's why in D&D land Unearthed Arcana costs more than the Player's Handbook. The Player's Handbook is larger, but they print and sell more of it, so that keeps their costs down and profits up. The Player's Handbook makes substantially mre money for them than Unearthed Arcana as well, despite having more material and a lower price tag.

Yeah, but you told the dumpshock community that writing was finished on Arsenal was finished while I was writing my sections for Augmentation, so you'll forgive the masses for predicting that Unwired is "a long way off."

The masses are free to interpret what I said any way "they" want. But since I've spent quite some time in the past week proof-reading and editing finals, I'm fairly certain Arsenal will be out sooner rather than later.

For the record, what I said at the time was the "primary writing" on Arsenal was complete while wrapping Augmentation - and it was. The actual release has been delayed, amongst other reasons, by the inclusion of significant playtesting feedback, the addition inclusion of a bunch of stuff "left over" from Augmentation, and writing a number of fluff sections that we decided were necessary.

Street Magic / Augmentation / Arsenal, all core books. Unwired will depend, I have hope but hope does not make for sound business decisions.

Speaking of those, I´m very curious about the priorities of whoever will get the german license with a backlog of Augmentation, Arsenal, Unwired, and Corp Enclaves. While merely translating and printing those should be one of the better paying activities in the RPG market, it is becoming a major investment (I admit that my basic assumption -that the german market is rather large and therefore important- might simply be wrong).

It could also mean the early 2008. The one that happened first. Maybe we'll have to wait for someone to develope a time machine, and the release will actually happen in 2008 BC, in order to inspire some crazy 4th world elves to be all cyberpunk, and then SR4 will seem relevant in the face of our rewritten history books.

But of course, hopefully I'll have my grubby little hands on it a littler sooner (later?) than that.

Please forgive me for being shocked, my brain still occasionally calculates euro=dollar. Reality is more like 1: 1.5, and I can live with paying about 25+ euro per book (the german street magic was 35 euro, but I got a slightly damaged one on a budget).

And yeah, closer analysis of printed vs ebook prices in combination with page numbers shows that the price structure is fair, and noone heard of record profits in the RPG industry, so far. Waiting for german street prices, but so far all is well!
