Hey folks, I'm Hound from the BlackHammer Cyberpunk Project (one of the surviving mega-sites for the old CyberPunk 2020 RPG).

Anyways, one of my recent projects that evolved from several others is the Future Firearms Archive. It's a blog-style website that has a new near-future firearm posted every Friday with stats for a variety of near-future RPGs (including Shadowrun 4).

However, I would like to include stats for earlier editions of Shadowrun, but I don't have the experience with them that I do with the other systems I post on the site. I played SR1 when it was released and played a few games of it, then skipped SR2, picked up SR3 when it came out but didn't play it, and finally scored SR4 at GenCon two years ago.

So, anyone up for writing up conversions for any of the earlier editions of Shadowrun for the site?

Drop me a line, either here or through the Archive site.

Blocked at work :( Otherwise I'd love to help.

Generally a gun in SR3 will be exactly the same in SR2, so at least if you get someone doing one of them, they'll count as double duty.

Thanks, I didn't know both were basically the same game. I skipped SR2 completely, and haven't use SR1 in so long that I wouldn't be able to write conversions for it either, so volunteers for either SR1 and/or SR2-3 would be welcome.

And yeah, www.dreadgazebo.com is blocked by most filters because of the firearms content - it hosts both the new Future Firearms Archive as well as my own daily firearms blog, "GunPorn".

That was the first thing I checked out. Nice, but not quite what I was expecting (or maybe it was just wishful thinking). :D

I have no problem visiting gun sites, but porn is strictly forbidden. That could be the problem (that or excessive mention of gaming).

I'm pretty sure the filter runs based on words rather than by having the computer ogle at the actual pictures because you know if it required the computer look at the pictures, it would never get any work done.

Purely from my own experience, the majority of filters are either YES or NO filters.

YES filters are the ones that allow you to visit only sites that have been cleared by the admin running the filter (these are very restrictive, and very few companies use them currently - although they certainly improve productivity in a lot of companies).

NO filters have a blocked list. The majority of these collect their blocks based on site content collected by the company that provides the filtering service. They usually categorize the blocks into a set of categories and the clients decide what categories to block (such as peer to peer, email, weapons, porn, malware, etc). On a large number of these filters, Dreadgazebo is blocked under the category of "Weapons" as well as "Gaming", although more companies block weapons than gaming for some reason.

Almost no filtering systems actually just use the names of the sites or the text on the sites as the filtering system. The few that do constantly return false-positives, such as sites about breast cancer being blocked because of the repeated use of the word breast.

If you want to provide GURPS translations that would be awesome. I don't own GURPS4 yet, so I haven't done any translations to that system.

I like the site, and the firearm diagrams are pretty sweet.

I would enjoy contributing to the fluff writing...all I need is an image to work off of. And I can probably extrapolate SR2/3 stats as well.

If you want, send me a couple of images that you haven't posted to the site yet and I'll send you a rough draft.

It's Friday, so the latest gun is up. This week we have the Elder Industries GLAIVE Carbine.

The Elder Industries firearms were originally drawn for a never-published supplement about firearms of the various fantasy races for d20 modern. Only the Elder Industries guns got drawn in the end - being the weapons of the elves.

When I draw some new designs I'll pass some along your way if you remind me. As it stands I've illustrated and written the text for the first 89 entries - four of which are now posted. The rest are quietly parked in the queue.
