The problem is really that they used the phrase "Sensor Rating" in two places. On a drone the Sensor Rating is its Intuition (p.159). But stand-alone RFID ultrasound sensors are a Sensor with a Rating. Then of course there's the size-dependent drone sensor capacity.
I try to mitigate the confusion by making sure that any reference to the rating of stand-alone sensing devices is with the standard "device rating" in conversation. That reinforces the idea of drone "Sensor" as Intuition just the way Pilot is equivalent to the Lojic stat. I also reiterate the dog-brain analogy to explain the weirdness with drones not targeting people. It's not that they don't see the person, they don't [/i]recognize[/i] it as a person. Maybe they think the person is an oddly shaped trash can or a stubby lamp post. It knows there's something there and can avoid it, it just doesn't know what it is. I don't have Arsenal yet but we've been costing upgrading Sensor(Intuition) the same as System/Firewall/Autosofts since a clear-sight autosoft augments most of the tests. |

Actually, as Drones are perfectly fine making Perception Tests (with their 'Intuition'), they have no problem targeting people.
And Sensor Tests really should be done only if said Drone has a Radar Sensor (most drones wont, because it's huge) - then use the Radar Sensor Rating for the Sensor Tests. And since the Radar Sensora rates 1-6, good ones will spot people, especially with Clearsight. |
