I think that the upcoming Knight Rider TV movie is going to suck on the basis that the male lead looks like a wuss. See photo and blurb here: http://www.nbc.com/Knight_Rider/bios/index.shtml
This guy just looks like a handsome movie star type. If he and David Hasslehoff got into the Thunderdome, Hasslefhoff would win at the one minute and thirty second mark by Sufforcating Teabag. Bruening, in the picture, looks like he should be a hairdresser, or perhaps primping at a gay bar. The character he plays is supposed to be this jaded ex Army Ranger. But, see, Rangers are supposed to be tough. Now, when you look at that picture, what's the first thing you think? Is it "tough" or is it "metrosexual"? The looks is not believable for the character. Why have the people casting these things seemingly lost touch with the Conans and the Rambos? If you look at Stallone in Rambo 4, he looks *tough*. If you look at Arnie in Conan the Barbarian, you don't look at him and immediately feel underwhelmed by a sensation of wussiness. Knight Rider is about an intelligent car so it's presumably directed more at men rather than women as a target audience. I could understand a metrosexual looking male lead if the show was supposed to appeal to women. But as a male if a character is supposed to be a hard-bitten ranger I want him to look more along the lines of Rambo in Rambo 4. Seriously. How can I exult in his heroicness or his epic toughness when he looks like the damn hairdresser? How can I believe he's a hard bitten combat vet if he looks so utterly metrosexual and preoccupied with his appearance? |

But, but, he went like a week without shaving for the part!
QUOTE (That Site You Linked) While working on "All My Children," Bruening guest-starred on the comedy "Hope and Faith" and the short lived series "3 lbs." Additionally, he gave a memorable performance in the feature-film festival favorite "Fat Girls." He was also featured as one of "Daytime's Hottest Stars" in Teen People, Us Weekly, Star and J-14 magazines. Bruening really does have a purty mouth on him. the metrosexual look on a grizzled, tough badass could be really cool if done right... but i don't think Knight Rider is going to do it right.

Knight Rider, the infodaytimedramamercial. Knight Rider isn't meant to sell cars. It is meant to sell the Shelby Mustang Cobra GT500KR Super Snake. Let's break down what that means. You start with a 2008 Ford Mustang GT, one of the best muscle cars in production today. Then you take that super-powered muscle car to Shelby Motors, where they strip it down and rebuild it from the ground up to be absurdly overpowered. It has 725 horsepower and guzzles gas as if it were cheap beer. It's a man's car. It's a man's man's car. |

I think he looks like he could be David Hasslehoff's son, but I think David Hasslehoff looks like he could play a hairdresser. Mr. Hasslehoff is hardly comparable to Rambo/Stallone or Conan/Schwartzeneger. He doesn't even look as tough as Chuck Norris, even without the manly beard. Even Bruce Willis looks more manly than David Hasslehoff.
Can you tell I think Hasslehoff looks like a candyass? He might be able to take Robbie Benson or some kid from a boy band (before they grew up) in a Thunderdome Fight. Which reminds me of Mel Gibson and come to think of him some guys with similar non-musclebound builds like Harrison Ford, or even Kurt Russel. |

Its a tv series not movie.
And the guy who was going to do Kit's voice had to bail cuz he also does the voice overs in some chevy commercial or some crap. Now its going to be Val Kilmer lol. I really hate the 90's and 2000's for giving up on trying to be creative and just vomiting back up the shows from the past and making all these retro movies and retro tv shows. Those people who decide to do that should be shot. Just play the originals jerk offs. That said....Bionic woman wasnt that bad and was even very shadowrunny. Knight Rider was one of my favorite shows as a child. I hope this new one will be worth watching. I doubt it will last for more than 2 seasons though. If the retards cant come up with an original show you know they dont have the brain power to think up that many new episodes lol. But I will give it a shot... Let's see... whats on deck to be bastardized next...the love boat!! I havent seen a retro movie or tv series of it yet!! |

See, the idea behind the original Knight Rider was to take the heroic wandering cowboy archetype with the steed and make that adapted to the 80s. So we got a disconsolate lone wolf Vietnam vet with a metal plate in his head with the black trans am that could do anything because of its "microchips" and "circuits", including parse the English language better than Leather Goddess of Phobos.
That's why the idea as being presented now doesn't work. Breuning doesn't look anything like a heroic wandering disconsolate ex-military proto-cowboy. They should've cast Clint Eastwood instead. |

Bruce Willis is all that is man, you heathen. is anyone else vaguely weirded out by the parallels that Hollywood tries to make beteen Nam vets and Iraq vets? maybe it's because Vietnam had stopped being a reasonable war to be a heroic veteran from by the time i really started paying attention to movies, in my mid-teens, and nothing really came along to replace it--there was some attempt to use the Gulf War the way Vietnam had been used, but it just never seemed believable to me. using the veteran-from-the-latest-and-greatest war trope just strikes me as being so... trite and silly. |

Exactly. They should have gone with Clint Eastwood and had him be a Vietnam vet. |

It's a tv movie that may serve as the pilot for a series that will die a painful death much like Bionic Woman but without the mercy of brevity that Drive was given. And Will Arnett is awesome. I want to believe that the conflict of interest was raised after he got paid and thought "But I'm still attached to this nonsense. Oh, wait! I've got it." followed by a phone call to GM. |

Yeah c'mon, lets hope the Shelby calls in sick and they get the REAL Trans Am to cover for it... Maybe that's too idealistic.

gee, that writers strike hurt the studios alot more than I thought (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
I never thought they'd resort to Necromancy though. Hey! I'm of writing a script for a Sitcom based on "Who's the Boss!" See, Tony Danza's part will be played by K-Fed and that womans part will be Monica Lewinski. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) They own a Rehab center and instead of kids they just have various famous patients who come and stay with them for 30 days. Softcore is less like to cause spontaneous kindergarten orgies among children who were never even exposed to TV. |
