Softcore is less like to cause spontaneous kindergarten orgies among children who were never even exposed to TV. And that is undesirable, why? Softcore is actually worse because children tend to fill in the blanks with their imagination. For a very a very long time, before I learned of the existence of the vagina, I thought that babies came out of the woman's butt. I assure you, that little mistaken assumption led to some very bizarre dreams. QUOTE *curses the sky* So... Everything in 2070 is connected via wifi, eh? Super... Yeah, its silly to build a super AI that adults can hack. Teenagers and precocious preteens, sure; they can hack anything. But adult Blackwater mercenaries shouldn't be able to hack that well. I must say that Bruening was okay as the comic relief sidekick that he played for the first two thirds of the movie but sucked as a protagonist. I almost felt like I was watching Shia Lebouf in transformers, only Shia was more baddass than Bruening. There was also a bit of tactical stupidity that no Ranger would make, but that can only be blamed on the writers. QUOTE t's a tv movie that may serve as the pilot for a series that will die a painful death much like Bionic Woman but without the mercy of brevity that Drive was given. Drive was actually pretty good. The concept may seem silly, but really no more so that the massive conspiracies of 24 and such. The show was very well executed; the characters were likable, the writing with above par, and the acting was excellent. It really shouldn't have been canceled. |

Dig out the old BMW 'movies' they made, make it Ford instead, make an asinine plot to tie it altogether and imagine the lead actor is actually a tranny.
I liked the fact that they took every chance they could to mention 'hey, this is a Ford! Buy Ford. We have four new models of Ford you can buy, and while none of them talk or deflect bullets, they're all Ford.' I wish they'd at least included turbo boost somewhere. |

Is comparing the two supposed to make me think more highly of Drive, which was just another waste of film? Seriously, I disagree with you about every one of those things you wrote. |

wow, that was terrible. like, i knew it'd be bad, but not that bad. You know, I'm not sure how I feel about the show. On the one hand, the acting is as wooden as Howdy-Doody. The story is weak, the plot thin. But let's face it, we turned into the original to see cool cars doing cool things, and on that level, Knight Rider 2008 delivers. There's also a lot of homages to the original series, starting with the theme music and running straight through to the end; that's also what we tuned in to see. So, there's not much wrong with the series that some improvements in direction and story would fix. All they need is a new director, and an end to the writer's strike. I'd be interested in seeing where a series based on this pilot would go, if they can do something about these problems. |

One thing that was retro about the show was how the female lead was wussy. Her character was a throwback to the days when the lead female would stand around being useless while the male lead was in some desperate hand to hand struggle with the villian.

That was to be expected. AFAIK a number of US and Canadian TV stations allow online viewings of their program - but only if you have a North American IP adress... Hope dies last. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) And I honestly have no clue how to change my IP or whatever, neither the desire to do so. And I won't go and spent minutes to get this knowledge for the new Knight Rider movie (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) If I could have watch it online without doing anything more then open a website, fine. If not, I don't care. |

Well, I watched it alongside my little sister. She liked the theme music, and when I said they borrowed some from the old show, she told me she had never seen the old show. Made me feel old. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/frown.gif)
The car was alright, and they did go way out on the tech for it. Nanotech rebuilders to instantly repair damage and alter the exterior of the car(change paint color, type of car, add/remove fins), 156 miles/gallon, gasoline and solar powered, speeds up to 200+mph, and of course thermal scanners and instant massive computer network access, military spy satellite access and internet. And Val Kilmer doing the voice for KITT. No turbo boost so far and I am sooo glad. They way overdid that on the old series, IMO. My only other complaint is that college roomy seems like the token "guy of some other color" so it didn't look so much like an all white show. Yes, I know the FBI agent woman was black, but at least she had a reason to be there. Roomy just seemed like he's gonna be the "hostage of the week". |

That's the other thing. Apparently the super magical diamond shielding on the TransAm is better than the nanotech instant repair stuff in the Mustang because it's not going to totally go away just because the computer system is shut down.
Remember how there was an episode where Hasslehoff has to rescue a young female Army lieutenant who has been confined inside a tank by the villians which is being used as a practice target for Army artillery? So Kitt is driving on the artillery range, and the villian tells the soldiers that Kitt's a drone target and they'll get three days off if they hit it. We see Kitt taking fire from mutliple artillery pieces and not taking a scratch in that episode. The inactive diamond whatever shielding is clearly superior to the nanotech especially seeing as it can apparently withstand artillery hits. I mean, what more could you possibly need than that which nanotech is going to supply at the cost of being a lot less reliable? |

I'm not sure that I liked it. Or that I hate it. I honestly don't know how I feel about the show. I did discover that the script was written in 12 days, just before the writer's strike went into effect. So, there's no telling what this show can become with a decent story and direction. I do think that the show can work, if you fix these issues. |
