Hi all, joined up a couple of days ago and have been Searching the forum for the last couple of days, looking for pictures of gamers painted SR miniatures. Now there's lots of good links to model companies, mainly of the 28-32mm scale, and quite a few mentions of the official SR models. Though I did find this part of a post:
QUOTE (Feshy @ Dec 19 2005, 06:58 PM) *
For "paracritters" and the like, they sell little plastic animals in bags similar to those green army men. We keep a set in our dice bags to use as miniatures. Make sure to get "jungle animals" or "dinosaurs" -- instead of "farm animals." Goats aren't scary unless they have wired reflexes 3 at least.
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinbig.gif)

But...... there's no pics of fully painted models (IMG:style_emoticons/default/frown.gif) So I guess I'm asking, if you've painted your SR models and models you've bought for the game, how about showing them off? Upload your pics and throw them in a post for the SR community to see!!

(SIDE NOTE: as has been pointed out, the original SR models are realistic 25mm. A company called Ground Zero Games does 25mm realistic scale modern humans, street level figures (suits, hookers, civilians, cops, paramedics, biker chicks etc), and they're cheap as chips at $2.75AUS dollars. And IIRC, they're an american company too, with at least one distributer in Australia. Just another option for those that want the visual 3D aspect to their RPG game.)

Man, I been here for years, and I had no idea you were Australian. For some reason I just assumed you were from the East Coast...

@Swirler- yes, yes you do need to take pics (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) It'd take up a measley half an hour of your day......... well worth it....... hey, a Rapier? I just finished painting two biker chicks on a bike the other night!

@Fortune- Thanks mate! Haven't played SR for years but am plainning on getting back too it, or a 'version' of the game. I'm down in Victoria, Western District (come on, come on, come on, please tell me you live 15mins away........ )

I'll take some pics of my stuff, got some models that work very well for SR, they're not cybered, but I think they still fit the part. Though if someone else wants to put pics up.... well that's the idea (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I'm thinking that your game might just be a bit too much of a commute from Sydney. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

That's funny, I had a gut feeling you'd be up there (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I'll post some pics later tonight of some models that might aid those who've a bent for the 3D side of RPG's.

Here's some Games Workshop Goliath Necromunda mini's, make great muscle runners or thugs:
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w46/Ros.../JPstoys002.jpg

http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w46/Ros.../JPstoys003.jpg

Now if you'll all turn your old SR3 book to page 47, you will see an angry halfer. No my ode to him (made from Games Workshop plastic parts and a hand full of modeling putty):

http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w46/Ros...rsonDone002.jpg

The missus loves this one and it was her last character model. It's a Biker Babe from Ground Zero Games' Street Level Collection:
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w46/Ros...larabell001.jpg

http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w46/Ros...larabell004.jpg

Here's another Biker Babe and I'm not sure on the other one, but I do know she's from GZG as well, she looks the part for a street doc's receptionist/aide (paint job's not real flash on those two).
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w46/Ros...arNursey001.jpg

And here's a bunch from Copplestone Casting, each one had a great character feel to them.:
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w46/Ros...chicks001-1.jpg

I could go on and on (for a little while anyway), but that'll do for the moment. I know they don't have the heavily cybered look, nor the clothing style that appears in SR art, but I do think they've got lots of potential for players or NPC's.
The one thing that does bug me, is getting hold of models that look like meta's, as most companies tend to have their own style of orcs, or trolls etc and those are generally don't fill the imagry that SR provides. Oh well.

Soooo, come on, what do you guys use, what's your toys look like? Also, does anyone actually build terrain to use in your games? Even if it's just dumpsters/wrecks/barrels to get an idea of cover, does anyone else do that?

Oh, and in case I haven't got my plea across properly, show us your pics :grinbig (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

EDIT: It appears I can't pop pics into my post, I guess a cut and paste is in order if you want to see the pics, sorry.

Add to the list the Chronoscope line from Reaper Minis; this looks like it might get some good sculpts in there. I like the NOVA security guards, I think they'd make a good corp heavy sec team.

Agreed.

Picked up a couple of these over the weekend. Stylistically, it looks like they're trying to appeal to as many different games as possible (which makes huge amount of marketing sense, really). For instance, the male figure I bought looks cyberpunk to me (in overall tone), but he's carrying a gun in one hand that screams "Laspistol," a la Warhammer 40K.

Overall, I really like what I've seen.

And what I don't like I should be able to convert/swap easily enough. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Wanna know what my "minis" look like? I scanned the character and NPC archetype illustrations from Shadowrun v.1, switched them to black and white in Photoshop, and converted them to 1"x3" cardboard heroes using black 1" bases I purchased from a game piece supplier. Nothing fancy but they established the "visual aesthetic" for my game. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'm a fan of this technique.

It also works well with Hero Machine, though HM is a bit, erm, cartoonish. Its much better for superheroes than cyberpunks.

I'd love to see people doing 3D renders, ideally with a plain white background, to use for this sort of thing. (hint, hint) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Me too. If I had access to Maya or something less crappy than Poser I'd be down with creating 3D cardboard heroes from scratch. And doing them as front and back; right now I have the "backs" of the cardboard figures as a 30% fade with the word BACK plastered across in bold sans serif lettering. Not the most elegant solution.

I use a mixture of VOID, Warhammer 40k, old SR miniatures, and other random crap for my games... basically any time I go to a gaming store I keep in mind what I need more of (opposition, mostly), and buy accordingly if something catches my eye. Characters and Corps are easy, I've always had problems finding good 'bulk' Yakuza and Gangers...

(I'll post pictures later... my durn site's down at the moment).
