Taiwan 2070, DocTaotsu: Dumpshock Famer? Options

I have an NPC in my coming game that's supposed to hail from Taiwan at some point in her past. Any thoughts on the island kingdom? The 6th world wiki indicates that Taiwan is still around, still indepedent, and buffered by the Canton Confederation (which they warred with in 2040). My NPC would have been born during the war and I'm sure that it would have colored her upbringing.

Any suggestions for some character background flavor? She's a 32 year old dwarf who is the assistant negotiator for a coalition of dwarven trade groups looking to resestablish ties to the Ork Underground (initially for contract work involving improving and modernizing their infastructure). In particular I'm looking for bits about her employment history and any occupations that would have attracted the attention of the Stonecutters Guild or whatever.

This is flavored a lot my my current dealings with Taiwan as an engineer.

I can picture her as having represented a group of "copycat" manufacturers as a Johnson. She is came to Seattle to facilitate the stealing of technology and plans so they could produce knockoffs without having to reverse engineer or spend R&D money on getting products to market. Maybe she is looking to cut out the middleman and set up factories in the underground, they have the people and its already a grey market area. That type of stuff would definitely get the Stonecutters attention.

She would be constantly reading up on the latest of anything fads and technology; new pattern on those Louise Vitton bags for the spring, how hard it is to copy and make knock offs. New chip for miniaturizing smartgun links, gotta have it.

She has the engineering know how on how to rip off any product and knows how to build factories, so she can definitely do the type of contracting that you are talking about.

Mmm... this is certainly a different direction than i had originally planned but I like it. I especially like the early work as a copycat face.
