I haven't got Corp Enclaves so I haven't actually read the section. But I'm currently playing a game on the forums called Sink, Hollywood, Sink, where we are (partially recalcitrant) p2.0 runners. It's leading to some hilarious dysfunction.
So what are the general opinions on p2.0? Has anyone used it or does everyone hate it? Personally I'm reminded of OJ Simpsons "If I did it". |

I was very sceptical when I read "Corporate Enclaves" for the first time, but on second thought, it fits very well. The glorification of Shadowrunners as media stars, and the media attention for violent crimes fits the dystopian aspect perfectly. The idea is also grounded in current trends, so we can relate to it. And it even had forerunners, in Cyberpirates, with the gingerbread man's trideo show, and the general "I wanna be on trid" attitude of many caribbean pirates.
My biggest problem was the plausibility, but then, the general stance on DS and elsewhere is that runners are tools, and most corps don't go after them because it's not worth the trouble, and that cops don't care about crimes done in extraterritorial corp areas. If said corps can get a lot of info about security risks and modus operandi from P2.0, and can check that the data/item stolen was passed on almost in real time, it seems a waste to track the runners down and arest them. The second problem was how to protect a runner's true identity, but then, that's always a problem, if not to that degree. Between runner personas and nanodisguises, it seems not too out there to run in L.A. So, I think that P2.0 is plausible, and adds a variety to Shadworun that makes L.A. more than "Seattle, with better weather". |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) Every city has it's own culture, no matter what people say, and LA is infamous for it's own. I could very much see this happening! It would even encourage people who wouldn't normally get past the fear of being a 'Runner try out at least a few cheap runs just for the hope of having that small percentage, and getting that role as an extra on the Trid, then, hopefully, STARDOM! |

... and all the while Horizon executives are laughing their way to the bank. Just as they should be.
In my mind P2.0 is the natural evolution of "reality" mass media projects. They're cheap and easy to make with no writers to pay. I'm thinking a cross between The Osbournes and Dog the Bounty Hunter would make a good P2.0 Shadowrun program. |

No kidding. You should read DD (Fuchs' sim starlet wannabe hacker style character) and her asides. Every time Blackie has an outburst of neurotic frustration, she's recording it, and thinking things like "oh, yes! That angst will look great!, we might have to re-shoot this meet though, he just made me look bad with that contradiction!"
You should check out "Sink, Hollywood, Sink.", not much really happens, but all our IC banter has evolved quite well. Basically, we end up writing most of what happens, and our GM JohnC, just feeds us relevant facts, legwork and scene segues. |

Oh yes, there are a lot of interesting contradictions on the team. You have a mix of people who are green as runners but P2.0 savvy, and more professional runners who range from reluctant to horrified at the concept of making a recording of their run to sell. You also have things like Dancer, an adept with the sustenance power, eating half of a side order of chicken wings because she only needs the equivalent of one meal a day, while DD, who has dietware, is ordering the troll-sized dessert item.

A quick question... how would you explain a P2.0 rating? I mean, I'm introducing someone to the gorup and say "Looking up his pito rating you find that it is ___". Is it three numbers? Or is it one compilation of the three? Is it literally a rank? Any thoughts?
Thanks! |

Silly, question, what is this alleged P2.0? Is it like MyFace for Shadowrunners? It's combination of reality TV and social networking sites. Some entertaing cuts from Corp Enclaves. QUOTE P2.0 (OR PITO) By now you're asking yourself what is all this P2.0 crap we keep bringing up. As you've all figured by now, Horizon is now the mover and shaker in this self-indulgent city of stars ... A few months ago, Horizon rolled out an AR soft ware mod they have taken to calling Persona 2.0, or P2.0... Persona 2.0 is live-networking, blogging, reputation, and sim, all in one. It tells others who you are, it constantly reaffirms your own importance, and it allows you to become a part of the glittering constellation of celebrities. Now you can become a member of what everyone else only can wish for. You can be a real person! At least that's the sales pitch. P2.0 is based off a three-tier trust metric that is adjusted in real-time and designed to compute your reputation: all you need is the appropriate soft ware and a subscription to P2.0... The first value is your Centrality (also known as your C-rating). Th is is an actual measurement of how close in the network you are to Horizon CEO Gary Cline... The second value is your network size (also known as your M-rating or Membership). Th is is the size of a person's individual network. If Centrality measures the quality of who you know, then Membership measures the quantity... The third measure of your rep is your Subscription value or S-rating. Th ere are subscribers to each P2.0 participant's personal "Me-feed." Th e more subscribers, the greater the popularity, and the higher the rating. This ties in with the live-blogging feature of P2.0... QUOTE LA ENTERTAINMENT GUIDE:: SEARCH :: CRIME / RUNNER / UNDERWORLD :: RUNNER SHOWS AND LIVE FEEDS, LA STYLE

My team's extraction of Goofy from Disneyland was a smash hit! Totally off the charts!
One of my PCs even got a contract signed with Horizon, SIN and everything, as a "Elf Bio-Ninja Gangsta Rapper". Well, he was kind of blackmailed into it by one of the contacts they made in LA, who liked the guy so much he wanted to share in the wealth he had been able to get by selling out too. The game's been on Hiatus for awhile now, and still the Player whines, "But I don't wanna be a Rap Star!" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/vegm.gif) |

I've often said that "Domino" is the perfect Shadowrun film (other than no magic). It's got the team having their own video crew, horrible communication errors, violence, double dealing client, secret team agendas, disastrous lack of understanding just who everyone is and who they are dealing with, and a crazy demo guy. And huge explosions.

Technically correct, but that's not what the way the book describes it. Even with latency, this still is rife with holes. Ok, so a recording of you comes out breaking into a Horizon subsidiary AFTER the job is done? Congratulations, you and thousands of other P2 subscribers are in posession of footage of you committing a crime. Does anyone else have a problem with this? I'd love to hear from one of the devs how the fuck does that work. - J. |

Simple, legalese in the contract! "The footage captured cannot be used for purposes of evidence in a crime, as dictated by the terms of the agreement, under local statute $Legalese."

It's fun, it's a bit silly, it certainly makes fun of itself, and it is most definately over the top. Don't take the LA runner culture too seriously. Really. It's there to have fun. You want black ops? Run in Seattle, Manhattan, Neo-Tokyo... You want to get some crazy fun going? Trolls with 2 ft high mohawks and glowing nano-tattoos and great one liners...The real deep shadows -- as is mentioned in corp enclaves -- don't happen on film. If someone wants someone else assassinated, the runner team probably isn't going to be having drones recording their every move. (Again, a good hacker is invaluable, this time not to edit the footage, but to spoof the drones to go somewhere else.) If you want to run in the limelight of LA, you have to embrace the culture. Other wise, stick to the shadows. Two, Extraterritorality works both ways. The corp is responsible for policing their own grounds and prosecuting crimes that occur on their own ground. That means that once you get off Horizon property, the PCC has no responsibility to prosecute you for a crime committed against Horizon. Horizon can ask them to extradite you, but that assumes the PCC catches you (or even wants to). And like someone mentioned, the corp has no real incentive to go after you after the job's been done, unless you kill some innocent bystanders or corp employees. (In which case, there might be another live feed of you getting your 'payment') And third. What do you care if Horizon has (high rating) footage of Big Bob the shadowrunner committing a crime. That's why you use a runner persona... Heck, Corp Guide also says that a lot of LA Mr. Johnson's offer cosmetic work as part of a payment package. Why not get a new face? (Or at least get a nicer nose.) Nanopaste, altskin, latex face masks, physical mask spells, adept disguise abilities, heck, just a stocking over your face. And remember... even the police are fans.
