Yesterday I picked up a tin of cheap Bulgarian ammo from the FLGS. It's kind of like a tin of spam, but more fun. I was thrilled by how the tin was old school. I'm sure a lot of people have seen tins of Bulgarian ammo before, but for me yesterday was the first time so it was very exciting. Here are some images I wanted to share:

QUOTE ...paper package of cartridges tied up with string... These are a few of my favorite things...? For real, though, this is awesome. It's hard to be beat surplus Warsaw Pact ammo for price, and it's so much fun to burn though. |

They also make amazing jackets and (often) hot females.
(I just got a surplus Soviet naval officer's overcoat two days ago. It is amazing and awesome.) |

Very cool.
FYI, my family spent 3 years in Moscow. If you're really looking for a translation, I can send the picture you had the question about and ask. |

Only if it's no trouble. I figure the cyrillic on the paper is probably very cryptic anyway to someone who doesn't know about the kinds of things that are noted with ammunition shipments.

I would have saved myself some time had I read your title and realized that's Bulgarian and not Russian... My dad did respond, bouncing the e-mail to a friend in Moscow, then to another persom in Romania (both people who make a lot more than you or I do!)
Nevertheless, her response was: Firstly, yes, it is Bulgarian. At first she commented that the -al endings are "unknown to her in modern Bulgarian". However, she got in touch with a native speaker and found that the ending means the person who has dealt with the thing. So: 1) is the person who determined the type of product to put into the package 2) the person who tied or bound the package same: 3) the person who filled the package 4) Inspector No. Date ______ (abbreviated) INSPECTOR’S SIGNATURE _____ |

They also make amazing jackets and (often) hot females. It's true. They toil endlessly in sweatshops, thousands of people working together day in and day out in grueling conditions to crank out thousands of them so they can ship them all over the world! Meanwhile, I have no idea how the jackets are made. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinbig.gif) |
