Hello Chummers, just putting this out there for any people that play CoV, I run a very successful villain group called Ghost Hound on the Virtue server, we are a Shadowrun/Cyberpunk themed group with a spec ops merc feel. If any of you are interested in playing this with us you can check out

http://www.virtueverse.com/index.php/Ghost_Hound

Just lookin for some CoV players that want to play in a SR themed VG, and help further flesh out our theme

Look up Wraith Prime or Ryn0

Wraith Prime is me and Ryn0 is my troll street Samurai second in command, if you talk to him just mention that wraith made a post trying to get more shadowrun players

Nope we are red side, though if I do have interest we may make a blue side version and some of us might make blue side versions of our shadowrunners

Huh. I'd put a shout out on the Virtue forums if I were you. There are definitely some people playing blue-side shadowrunners, maybe you guys could hook up.

I'd join up, but I'm unsubscribed for the foreseeable future. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/frown.gif)

You guys may be based in the Rogue Isles, but like paws (I'm assuming) I've seen folks advertising in Global for that group in Steel and other assorted sections of Paragon. I half considered it before, but I need another AR or Thugs character like I need a hole in the head (and I'm at a loss for other good SR concepts). That, and my altitis is bad enough as it is without genre-spanning...

As am I, but I am less bothered by that fact than you seem to be. I logged in for the free weekend dealio for the I12 release and had a resoundingly "mhe" response. Besides, I can pooosh leeetle caahrt for a lot cheaper these days. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Ah, I'm actually pre-loading that for the free weekend thing right now. I need to stop being so broke so I can get the Orange Box.

Darn you. Us console gamers get no support for orange box. We still haven't gotten any of the new maps or even the new character updates like medic or pyro. *sigh*

Free weekend for TF2, I don't own it and I still have like 7 medic achievements and 16 or more pyro achievements. The Flare Gun is fun, but really hard to use.

Or more specifically "Vhee must pooosh leeetle caahrt!" (We must push little cart!). Payload maps are much more fun (on my opinion) playing as the Heavy since it's pretty much his map...

Sucks to be you. Then again, I still don't see the appeal of playing FPSes on consoles anyways. *shrugs* Oh well, different strokes and all.

The Flare Gun is fun, but really hard to use.

It can be tricky at long ranges, but it's really best at Sniper harassment and chasing down fleeing scouts. Sure, Scouts can dodge like mofos, but it's hard to dodge something coming at you from behind (and very few Scouts are good enough to run away with the intel running backwards). The true downsode to the Flare Gun is the fact that it leaves you with no weapons (other than the axe) that you can use underwater.

Hmm, speaking of Axes (to somewhat get the conversation back on track), I guess you could do an Axe Brute now that I12 is out, go for the cybered Ork/Troll look in CoV. Might be the only way I ever find a use for that goofy looking Impervium Axe. it's vageuly Combat Axe-ish.If I ever get back online for a bit, maybe I'll try that and look the VG up.

It's my roommate's xbox, and I still haven't bought a computer to play games on, not with the mortgage payments and law school loan payments. otherwise I'd be in a heartbeat playing on the computer, I was pretty good Tribes player and okay BF1942 player back in the day *sigh*.

as for running backwards with the intel, I've seen many a times my roommate playing as a scout or spy and he's running backwards while shooting guys who are chasing them. The spy's revolver is pretty nasty if you're accurate with it. It's kinda sick.

Oh yeah, not CoV, but orange box. here's pyro singing stayin' alive, enjoy.

A buddy just talked me into playing CoX again. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

We're on the Virtue server, and while I'm focusing on my new villain character, could be fun to make up an SR themed character. My global handle is @MadDawg

Mixed bag really. There's a lot of good things about CoV to be sure. Like the fact that they realized that most people really don't care to run around through 3-4 zones just to get to the next damn mission and just put most everything you'll be doing on the level appropriate island. Newspaper missions help in that as well (although Heroes now have the Police Band to take that slack up somewhat).Plus, the overall background and storylines to CoV tend to be more coherent, and better written in my opinion.

On the downside for me was the fact that I just couldn't get into most of the Archetypes. Nothing outside of the Mastermind was really groundbreakingly different (Brutes=Beatier Skrankers. Dominators=Occasionally spectacular Controllers. Corruptors=What everyone playing Offenders blue side wanted to be playing. Stalkers=PvE:Gimped one trick pony Scrappers/PvP:Annoying twats of both the lethal and innefectual varieties.

Someone can correct me if I'm worng, but after the buyout, didn't they basically give everyone access to the same stuff? Meaning that folks who used to have just CoH now have access to the whole CoX shebang as long as they update? Maybe I'm hallucinating here...if I'm not though, you could always give the dark side a try next time they do a free weekend thingie.

Yeah, pretty much. If you have an account, you have access to both games now even if you only had one or the other before. Finally.

If you've updated your client since COV came out, you have all the stuff on your computer already*. The only thing that kept people from getting access to both games was a registration key that turned each side of the game on.

(*Barring any more current releases, of course. Those you'll have to patch before you can play.)

Yeah, double XP, prestige, and influence/infamy this weekend. I considered reactivating, but I doubt I'll have the time to play more than a few hours - summers are too busy. Come winter... maybe.
