OK now that UnWired is out, along with the rules/additions for moding same.
How many have come up with non player character produced/designed commlinks incorporating some of the additions like a commlink built/designed to give the user a bonus of DataSearch rolls? Also the vast difference in the price range of Commlinks all the way up to the Fairlight. Do the various models of commlinks in your game incorporated some of the UnWired additions? Since such commlinks have been designed/built any built in mods do not count against the 4 slot limit. As per the Arsenal Rules. WMS |

I was playing around with a hacker adept build after my second readthrough. This was what I came up with.
Commlink: 5000 Response 5 1000 Signal 5 3000 System 6 3000 Firewall 6 250 Hot Sim 50 Skinlink 6000 Response Enhancer 3 3000 Nonstandard Wireless Link 6 250 Customized Interface [1 Slot] 500 Optimized for Exploit [1 Slot] [saving 2 slots for simsense accelerator after chargen. Woo 5 IPs!!!] Programs: 1800 Viral Resistance 6 Optimization 3 Ergonomic Analyze 6 1800 Viral Resistance 6 Optimization 3 Ergonomic Browse 6 1500 Viral Resistance 6 Optimization 3 Command 6 1800 Viral Resistance 6 Optimization 3 Ergonomic Edit 6 1500 Viral Resistance 6 Optimization 3 Encrypt 6 1800 Viral Resistance 6 Optimization 3 Ergonomic Scan 6 1800 Viral Resistance 6 Optimization 3 Ergonomic Purge 6 6000 Armor 6 6000 Attack 6 6000 Biofeedback Filters 6 6000 Blackout 6 6000 Data Bomb 6 6000 Decrypt 6 6000 Defuse 6 6000 Disarm 6 6000 ECCM 6 6000 Exploit 6 6000 Medic 6 6000 Sniffer 6 6000 Spoof 6 6000 Stealth 6 6000 Track 6 5000 Software Programming Suite 5 3000 Agent 3 600 Adaptability 3 Agent Autosoft 600 Homeground 3 Agent Autosoft 600 Cascading 3 Agent Autosoft 600 Expert Defense 3 Agent Autosoft 600 Expert Offense 3 Agent Autosoft Total Cost: 129050 Runs the common use programs as rating 6 on any rating 3 or higher system, including the Agent. Viral resistance blocks the most common paths to infection through the most used common progs. Would eventually like it on Exploit and Stealth as well. Ergonomic lets me run those five programs (or three on the agent) without any response degrade. With 5 intuition, Initiative is 12, 4 IP with simsense booster. Will be 16 and 5 IP after response enhancer 6, response 6, simsense accelerator upgrade. I could be off on some calculations, but I think it all checked out. edit: Woops, I forgot the optimized adds +1 initiative. Changed that. Also, I Optimized for Exploit as I like getting into nodes silent and fast and the new rules for adding backdoors use exploit, but could be optimized for just about anything. |

You are aware that the response rating of 5 limits all those programs to rating 5? except for firewall.

So you guys also took that to mean that you can run programs at >Response if they are optimized too. I thought I was having a stroke when I saw that.

You are aware that the response rating of 5 limits all those programs to rating 5? except for firewall. WMS Yup. I almost always purchase at rating 6. You upgrade your response to 6 for a few thousand and a few days hardware test and suddenly all your programs run at rating 6. It's a waste of money to buy everything at rating 5 and then upgrade one at a time. Then again, when you can get rating 6 programs for free from warez contacts or for 600 from a pirate website, it's kind of a waste to buy any programs at the start. But c'est la vie. So you guys also took that to mean that you can run programs at >Response if they are optimized too. I thought I was having a stroke when I saw that. I was debating that. When I looked at it initially, I had the same stroke and had visions of rating 12 optimized 6 programs dancing through my head. But if greater than 6 _do_ exist, I'd expect them to be epic hard to program and/or require runs against military or government-level assets to get. |

Still it removes one of the limitations that Hackers had at the start that Stealth <= 5. It also lets you get away with proxy servers or geostationary sats a lot easier.
