So, I've come to the conclusion that a lot of people think that their runners think of themselves as the archetypes. I've always been under the belief that the archetypes encompassed a large group of categories (i.e. Faces encompass Con Artists, Pimps, etc.) and I don't think people look at the larger scale of who could potentially be career criminals and what kinds of criminals/crime is/are out there.
I'm creating this thread for people to list their less-thought-of character concepts to spark the imagination of other SR players. Pimp Drug Dealer Con Artist Prostitute Mage Getaway Driver/Smuggler (Spirit-Enhanced Car?) Adept Photographer Rigger Surveillance Expert Adept Freerunner Graffiti Artist Rapper/Ganger (or wannabe Ganger) Ork-poser Wannabe Ganger Arms Dealer Carjacker Chop Shop Owner Anyways, post your character concept ideas that run outside of the range of the Usual Suspects. |

Back when I started playing SR1, I was inspired by William Gibson's novel Neuromancer & came up with my character, then reverse engineered the archetype 'Contracted Courier' from it.

Still working on this guy--I'll probably need the rules from Street Magic to finish it and I don't have that book yet... ...basically he's an ex-con who awakened & goblinized in prison, promptly broke out, and is now trying to put together a anarcho-darwinist cult for the express purpose of burning civilization to the fragging ground. Currently squatting in the palatial ruins of a condemned Chinese buffet, & going on runs to fund the start of his cult. The quadri-amputee rigger basically turned into "fun with anthro-form drones"." It's the perfect excuse to never leave the rigger cocoon of your vehicle that you've always been looking for.

Ex Special Forces (Wildcats, Tir Ghosts, Red Samurai, Jaguar Guard - etc. as well as all the conventional UCAS and global special forces, GIGN, Navy Seals, etc.) - Can be Samurai, Deckers, Magicians, Riggers, Covert Ops Specialists (or combinations).
Ex Scientist - Hackers/Logic Twinks (this is my current character - Huge DP's in hacking, armorer, chemistry, electronics, software, demolitions -anything using Logic.) - This could also be an ex magician researcher. Cybered Rockclimber - Some really cool athletics/climbing ware from arsenal. High stealth skills and maybe a sniping specialisation can make them valuable shadowrunners. Ex Circus Child Eclectic Wiccan Magician - Magician/Face. Good Illusion, Control Manipulations, and sleight of hand/con skills. Ex Mafia Burglar - (my first character), Covert Ops Specialist/B&E Burglar type. Could also play a wheelman,I suppose. Cybered Anarchist Photojournalist - Covert Ops/Surveillance/Hacking specialist. |
