[BBC] Lybia is to give up chemical and biological arsenal as year 2003 comes to an end. It will very probably prevent his chemical attack against Israel as schduled for 2004. No attack, no nuclear counter-attack, no wastelands and no place to conduct Desert Wars. All the people claiming Desert Wars were a silly idea are proved right :D

The only date that matters is the day the dragons show up.

No Century Ferret kinda hints at no dragons, I'm afraid.

'Course, maybe we just can't find the little bastards. :) Here's hoping.

it's like a regular ferret, but awakened. i don't recall what powers they have, but they're not impressive. their only claim to fame is that their species awakened in 2000. they would have been called the millennium ferret, but that would've opened up way too many bad star wars jokes.

Wouldn't be the first time that small furry critters related to the SW's universe ended up objects of extreme ridicule.

And as far as missing the time line, SR has FOOD RIOTS in the States in 1998. I guess the SR creators supposed every twinky, frito, and taco would vanish in about ten years.

Well, I for one am curious what the timeline is going to be like in europe. I'm looking forward to the SoE because I think with the fall of the Soviet Union that kind of makes the Euro Wars not longer possible. because if I remember correctly doesn't the Soviet Union invade? Also I don't think the SR creators foresaw the EUs integration.

As for the Euro Wars, it says that Russia attacks and provokes the Euro Wars. Doesn't matter about whether or not it was the Soviet Union at the time.

Doesn't matter- the Shadowrun timeline diverged from our own a while back, 1980 I think it was. Anything that happens after that in our world doesn't make any difference to Shadowrun's.

I know the SR timeline diverges from ours in the early 80s, the same time SR first edition came out. I looked into my 3rd edition book and there's nothing before 1999. My 1st and 2nd edition books are currently in my parents attic many miles away. I know European integration has been a gradual thing staring after WW2 and progressed significantly with Maastrict in 1991. The SR timeline also didn't foresee the downturn in the Japanese economy in the mid 90s either; or the dominant currency wouldn't have been the nuyen.

This might be so that they don't have to constantly be making errata to fix their version of what's now our past. <shrugs>
