By RAW here is the sequence:

1. An Elvin TM of a presumably CHA tradition like Technoshaman has a Charisma of 7.
2. A TM subscribes an eyeglasses mounted sensor tag with skinlink and camera to his living persona. This gives him access to a discreet sensor.
3. The TM knows the Empathy software Complex Form (Arsenal, pg60) at 6 [his resonance]
4. A registered rating 6 sprite performs Assist Operation which gives him 6 combat turns of a CF of 12. He triggers those 18sec of Assist as a simple action when he is speaking.
5. The TM has a Biowire echo and has been submerged 4 times allowing him to emulate rating 4 activesofts.
6. The TM emulates a Negotiation rating 4 activesoft. This takes no time since its a Threading test (per the official FAQ).
7. The TM threads Negotiation by +3 spending 1 edge if needed to offset Fading if any. With the threading the TM adds the Personalized and Overdrive-2 program options.

8. The TM doesnt suffer threading penalties to actions for actions using the threaded CF so he doesnt need to use a simple action to have a sprite sustain it for him.
9. Another registered rating 6 sprite [to give a bigger duration although a rating 4 could do it in a pinch] performs Assist Operation which gives him 6 combat turns of a Negotiation CF of 8.
He triggers those 18sec of Assist as a simple action when he is speaking.

This yields a setup activated as two simple actions with -2 to the threading test [Due to Macro echo and assumes it takes a simple action to command a sprite since most folks say sprites are commanded like spirits per BBB4, pg349] meaning that if the TM can nod his head and say "Hmmm..." for 3sec to stall while he threads his CF's and activates his sprites he is sitting on:

Charisma 7 + Negotiation 8 + Empathy 12 + program options +3 = 30 Social Dice

This would cost 12 hours to register the two sprites who would be assisting the CF's.
This would cost two tasks of the two registered rating 6 sprites every 18sec that the TM is persuading the Johnson to give more nuyen. All the TM has to do is listen to the Johnson give a speech, feed the Johnson with data on team availability then close the deal using responses lasting up to 18sec each. If the Johnson is wise to the TM and draws out a lot of responses the TM could run out of services and have to use threading at > +2 to add dice instead of the spirites using Assist actions.

It may be legal to thread the emulated Negotiation up to Resonancex2 and have a sprite sustain it, but I'll assume that players wont necessarily have the Macro echo allowing extra actions. After all, stalling for 3 sec without appearing to be a dolt is hard enough... 6sec might be insulting to the Johnson.

Its not perfect mind you... you couldn't use Edge without DIMAP so it'd be equal to an Edge boosted dice pool of around 24 dice since the Edge boosted pool has open ended 6's but it only requires 6 build for the Empathy CF and the build to submerge 4 times to emulate a max rating Activesoft. It could also be boosted with Tailored Pheromones, First Impression, an Increase [Charisma] spell, Pheromone Receptors, and if it were a meat skill with Edge but in my mind 30 dice with a 6 build investment and submerging that is multipurpose it seems legit + effective.

Disclaimer: The clarifications to Unwired are going to 'clarify' the above situation but the devs havent said HOW they will be clarifying it. This means it will probably receive The Nerf Bat but as it stands now this is legal by RAW. WOOF.

And I think you are making a really excellent point for not being flexible in that regard.

He is using the "Adopting Software" sidebar on page 136 of Unwired for the precedent of using Empathy as a CF.

One thing, as a GM, that I would do. I would probably have to come up with some kind of Technomancer nerve damage if they want to thread CF skillsofts with Overdrive and fail the Edge test.
