Or the Zombie uprising is starting, either way....

Is anyone else absolutely terrified by how quickly RL seems to be turning vaguely cyberpunk?

Scared? Nope. I'm waiting for datajacks and 2012. As much as I know the SR history is a creation of fiction, I can't help but hope and wonder if the end of the mayan calendar will bring back magic. Frag you all, I wanna throw lightning! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I've also heard of neural interfaces being used for prosthetics in the US more recently than Captain Cyborg's work. I remember mention of a US team getting cameras to hook up to the brain properly to give a blind person sight back.

My thought was along the lines of hoping my shotguns arrive soon. I live in Western Canada and don't wanna give up my land to the Ghost Dance laying down. Even if it's just a crappy apartment, It's mine. That and I don't wanna live in Winnipeg....

Don't use a shotgun, use a Fuel Air Explosive! Nukes "won't work" but a FAE should work just fine. What about a MOAB? Non-nuclear, carrying 8.4 tonnes of high explosive, and will wreck ANYBODY'S day... even IE's, GD's, and the odd Cyberzombie or 12.

Heh, I'm there with you. Then again, if you know what you are doing, you can control some magic (no, I refuse to add the stupid 'k' to the end of the word) now. It's easier now than it was years ago when I was first taught but still rather difficult.

True. But what people can do now vs what we could do if there were to be some sort of Awakening would be leaps and bounds different.

Granted, chances are that 2011 and 2012 will pass with no hubub, just as 2000 and 2001 did, but still. It's fun to hope. Hehe

Oh, and I only use the word magick when referring to White Wolf Mage. Everything else is magic. Damnit. Hehe

Hey! What's wrong with Winnipeg?

Aside from having the largest temperature variance in the world, mosquitoes in summer and bitter winters worse than the arctic circle in winter, being the murder capital of Canada, filled with mystical events in the FIFTH world and likely to be overloaded in the Sixth, and about to be a boarder town with a NAN state that's a JoyGrrl to Aztechnology.

...

Got space in your apartment for a Roomie?

An entire Legislature built from the ground up with mysticism in mind, and a disproportionate number of ghosts and ghost sightings for the population and history of the city.

And... Personal feelings.

Well on the upside, those that would form the nan simply do not have the numbers to do it, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) not to mention most are US citizens and at least most would never revolt in an armed conflict,...for mexico and the azz's? um...mmm Well on the upside by that point we should have most of those people north of the border if the mexican goverment dosn't fix stuff soon hehe,

Give a small group the equivalent of a nuke and numbers suddenly become less important. Not to mention native numbers were concentrated thanks to the events following SIAM and the Lone Eagle incident. In the SR history, a lot of pieces had to fall in to place to create the groundwork for NAN to come to pass.

The one piece that will NEVER fall is the granting of extra-territorial status to corps. The government is WAY too in love with their power to EVER share it. Think about it. If they can't control taxes, they can't get the bribes from the corps to make sure taxes don't go up. Politicians love money more than they love their wives (or husbands), and the idea that THEY'RE not getting "their" money is just wrong.

Which is why corporations will want to give those politicians a good chunk of money all of their own. Elected officials changed. It was assumed the Senate would never vote to allow themselves to get elected by popular vote, but they did.
