I was thinking about the archetypes of the good old days the other day, and realized that I'm forgetting some of them. Since my 1st and 2nd Ed core books are in storage and I don't have PDFs of them regrettably, could someone give me a hand filling in the blanks? (Just the core ones, not the ones from Sprawl Sites)

Here's what I remember:

Burned Out Mage
Decker
Detective
Elven Decker
Former Company Man
Ganger
Mercenary
Ork Mercenary
Rigger
Rocker
Shaman
Street Samurai
Street Mage
Street Shaman
Tribesman

Who am I forgetting?

Would that matter? Imean, it's so rare that those pages would actually stay in the books... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sarcastic.gif)

Mine did - then again I'm fanatically protective of my books.

Combat Mage, Bodyguard, and Dwarf Mercenary are in Sprawl Sites.

Former Wage Mage was in fact in the core books - thank you Shrapnel (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

That should round out the list, then. IIRC, they've always had 16 archetypes in every edition of the core book.

That's funny. I pulled out my 2nd Edition Grimoire for a quick read the other day and I discovered to my horror that I was somehow missing the first ten or fifteen pages of it. I have no idea when that happened or where they could be. Kind of depressing, really.

I have the same experience with my enjoyment of the game these days - whenever I get up to playing it, it feels like some of it just goes missing...

Of course, since you mentioned SR2 core, some of the Archetypes from Sprawl Sites - namely, the Dwarf Merc, Bodyguard and Combat Mage - got promoted to "core-Archetypes" in 2nd Ed., replacing the Ork Merc, Burned Out Mage and... Rocker.

Trivia-Dump: The first Sprawl Sites also contained two Archetypes that would years later re-surface as Samples in SR4 - the Former Magic Detective, a proto-version of the Occult Investigator; and the Troll Bounty Hunter (exactly what it says on the tin, an even more bummed-out granddad of the already pretty bummed, natch, Bounty Hunter).

Todays collection of useless factoids has been brought to you by Naysayer's Alzheimers Repellent.
Now get the §&%$ of my lawn!
