Well, they *do* still follow the rule that the sum of their chip ratings is less than three times the MPCP. I suppose they just decided that rule is more important for cyberterminal construction in general, and the Rating<=MPCP rule only applies to cyber*decks*. It kinda makes sense, if you think about it that way.
I guess they were just being nice and allowing the player to specify their own Persona chips for free; at the very least there are no costs for making Persona chips in that section. As for Wolfjack's comment about cyberdecks being illegal, they're no more illegal than melee weapons, which for some reason are still produced despite being apparently illegal to own now. |

Cranial Cyberdecks are in M&M p.20 (text) and p.21 (table). Though I am not sure how much use having a file for them is going to be since all that would be recorded are:
M&M indicates that the ASIST converter has no essence cost and Active Memory is paid for seperate from the cranial cyberdeck unit, as normal headware Memory. I can still make the file, I just don't know how handy it will be for anyone. -Wolf |

Well, stock decks themselves aren't illegal but when the deckmeisters get them and add in Masking and take out the signature chip...then it becomes illegal. So you could buy these decks from any electronics store without a problem just that every move you make on the deck without masking and the signature chip would be recorded and probably transmitted. Easily making your crimes ineffective and traceable. |
