So I've been working on a technomancer for my next campaign and I am posting him to get an idea if you guys think he's balanced with good survivability.
Daisuke Ishikawa: Male Japanese Human, Seattle resident. B 4 A 3 R 4 S 1 C 5 I 4 L 3 W 3 Edge 2 Resonance 5 Qualities Technomancer Codeslinger (Hacking on the Fly) Analytical Mind Paragon (The Black Hat) Resonance Bond Negative Qualities In Debt 30 Mild Allergy (Shellfish) Skills Cracking 4 Electronics 4 Registering (Crack) 5 (8) Compiling (Crack) 5 (8) Pistols (Semi Auto's) 1 (3) Dodge (Ranged) 1 (3) Complex Forms Attack 5 Shield 5 Armour 5 Exploit 5 Stealth 5 Analyze 5 Gear (30,000) (9 BP left to spend wherever) This of course is just a basic workup but I am wondering with the experience some of you guys have is this a decent build. I am aware of the low Edge but in our current campaign edge hasn't been used much and building it up a couple of points would be fairly cheap at only 9 karma for level 3. My plan is to use machine sprites for the diagnostics power to help with my pistols skill should give me an average of 10 dice for pistols. My dodge is low but I'm not defaulting so I can work that up later. Our DM does the 2xCharisma contacts so I will get 10 points there and the resonance bond power will give me access to the CF I don't have yet. The rest I can use sprites for like Browse, Trace, and Decrypt. I took Analytical Mind for the +2 to software tests since threading is a software test. The codeslinger and Black Hat Paragon should make it easier for me to hack Admin level accounts on the fly with threading and registered sprites adding to the rolls. I plan on getting some charisma skills after getting my first submergence. So let me know what you think |

Should be very playable. I´d remove the resonance bond (TM is special enough), convince the GM to use the karma system, and buy Influence 1.

QUOTE My plan is to use machine sprites for the diagnostics power to help with my pistols skill should give me an average of 10 dice for pistols. If I read the Diagnostic power correctly, it works only on electronic devices, and it's a task per use. So I doubt this can be used with guns. Even if you put a smartlink on it. |

There is definitely a distinct lack of Social Skills.

i'll add my vote to picking up a point of at least 1 social skill. i also recommend at least 1 point in perception.
i'm also not sure i'd max out on positive qualities. are *all* of those qualities needed? oh, and also, you've got your registering and compiling wrong... it should be 5(<specialisation>+2), or 5(<specialisation> 7) if you prefer. |

The problem is our GM will almost never allow you to gain positive qualities in the game so yes I like to start with alot of them. To Address the Registering and Compiling thing its because I have the Black Hat Paragon he gives me 1 more die with compiling and registering a specific sprite namely Crack sprites so I wrote it as 5 ( 8 ) The problem with social skills is that I really don't have enough BP's left to add much I could add one social skill at rank 1 with a specialization but thats really it. In trying to make the character viable in a combat situation if he had to hack something onsite I had to give up something and social skills I believe can be gained later since we have a face. |

So you got 6 for crack and 7 for paladin and 5 for rest, but not 8 at anything. edit: looks like you changed it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) |
