So I picked up FFTA2 a couple of days ago and I have to say that it's a vast improvement on the GBA offering. The game is actually mostly functional without a strategy guide. And hey! It's fun!
Anyone else playing? |

I'm playing FF12 at the moment. Not my favourite in the series, but not a bad offering by any means.

I must admit that I've never been a terrific fan of the FF series in general but I enjoy the hell out of Tactics for some reason.
Maybe it's because I don't have to watch cutscenes.. that drives me insane in this day and age. I think it's also because I like seeing big numbers sometimes... it's my gamist showing. |

the original tactics was all that and a bag of potato chips
FF series reach it's pinnacle with FF6 (FF3 US) and has since not been the same since the great old sprite days. how does this game compared to the old one? |

Eh... not at all favorably. there's pretty much zero plotline or character development which is a real shame since... well i thought that was kinda a selling point for the first one.
At the same time it's a fantastic portable time waster. Battles usually only take 15-30 minutes and their just challenging enough to keep things interesting. I do appreciate that they're bringing back all the old FF's and Chronotrigger. Good times all around for my DS. |

I find FFTA2 to be quite superior the FFTA, but not as good as FFT.
For those of you who are familiar with the law system from FFTA, it's mostly back, although in a much less harsh form. You get rewards for not violating the law, and you don't have to worry about jail time if you do violate the law. In terms of character development and the like, it's a very mediocre game. If you can get it used on the cheap, it wouldn't be a bad buy, but I would advise against buying it new. |
