Has anybody undertaken the monumental task of converting SR3 damage codes to be SR4 friendly? I'm involved in a game that's taking place inside the SR3 timeline, and we're using SR4 books/rules... and it can be down right daunting to pick equipment that would legitimately fall within the SR3 timeline when that took place nigh upon 15-20 years in the past in our campaign.

I hope this question hasn't been asked... 30 minutes of searching a years worth of posts didn't yield anything that helped, my search-fu is weak today.

The best thing to do is just use equivalents.

Example Ares Predator in SR 4 is 5P -1 AP and go from there. OK anything with the same damage code as a heavy pistol does 5P -1 AP.

Use Arsenal to get a feel for some of the larger damage codes (does it do more or less damage than a Barrett.)

I'm running my SR4 campaign in 2054 and I haven't had any problems.

I did have to boost the damage up some for some of the creatures to get past the armor.

Mercurial, Harlequin, Dream Chipper, and so on.

Pretty easy to convert. Pull some of the stock grunts.

For the Big Bad and his henchman cut the stats and skills by 3/4s rather than 2/3rds. All you need to remember is to add smartgun links, the better ammo, and either FFA or some extra body and heavier armor.
A few specializations lets you rack some good DP without having ridicules levels of skills and stats. And Edge makes things much easier.

Good luck

Divide the Power by 2, rounding up, and add +1 DV for L, +3 DV for M, +5 DV for S, and +7 DV for D.

These fellows in Lafayette, Indiana did it. Nice little table chart and everything, including Naval Ammo damage.

Conversion is very easy (ImO): all Light pistols do Light pistol Damage(4K),all Heavy Pistols do Heavy Pistol Damage(5K/ AP-1),Assault Riffles do Assault Rifle Damage,Etc,Etc.It doesn't Matter What your Timeline is,simply use the SR4 Damages
Don't bother with difficult Formulaes.SR4 is meant to be streamlined (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
