I found (the horrible way) there's a bug in the foci tab. If you hit delete on the Force rating of a Foci, it gives you a "Run-time Error 13 / Type Mismatch" error and just closes the generator and doesn't even let you save before crashing. If you haven't saved you character at the time, BAMF! all the work... it's all gone.

that would be ....bad.
could you give me a little more information about how i could reproduce this?

on the magic tab of the chargen, the Bound Foci Power rating is not an editable field, so could you describe how you hit delete on the rating field?
were you in the custom items dialog?

hehe, it's really as simple as it looks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

here, step by step:

1 - open up the chargen
2 - click on the powers/spells/spirits/foci tab
3 - under foci, go to Foci #1 (any number will produce the same bug)
4 - click on the number field, as if you were to manually enter a number (I know it has a dropdown, but it can still be entered manually, that's what input boxes are for (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) )
5 - it will highlight the zero there... just hit delete and it's all gone!

that's a powerful focus... instant magic! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) (I wish I could do that to some players sometimes... lol)

What version of the chargen do you have? and what are you running it on?

I can't reproduce this behavior for two reason:
Upon starting the chargen, your special is set to none, and so I cant even add foci. (they reset immediately)
I tried selecting magician, but I upon selecting the first foci, selecting the power field, and hitting delete (and backspace)
nothing bad happened.
(again, the field is uneditable.)

Is there anything else you're doing that makes the field editable? or causes the crash?
Is the tab you're on specifically called the "Magic" tab?

Nvm dobber, i found the problem (which is my retardedness... lol)
I was looking at the wrong Character Generator (for some retarded reason, I was looking at Ismodred's chargen... lol)


BTW, First Impression is mispelled First Impressoin

And please, please, please... let us add our own Knowledge skills. There are just not enough categories/skills to choose from.

OH! Duh, that's right, forgot about it...


Found another mispelling:

Mandarin is mistyped as Mandarian

edit: a useful addition to the Languages table: Lakota (one of the two main Sioux language, along with Dakota)

edit.2: found another bug. when you add a bow, it's not multiplying the base price x the rating. it stays on 100 nuyen no matter the rating

not sure if this has been addressed, but found a glitch in qualities that extends into stats:

Whenever you add the Tough as Nails quality, regardless of rating, it adds one to your magic rating, whether or not you have taken adept/magician/mystic.. further, if you have already allocated points into your stats, and have included Magic, adding tough as nails will increase the magic stat by one for each rating of Tough as Nails, Additionally, if you remove tough as nails, and have points in Magic, it will remove points from the stat, but not from the build point tally.

ya, in the current build (which i have no idea when i'll release it) i've changed the way qualities and special qualities interact. hopefully that will be fixed.

I'm listing what changes I made to my installation, so that others can do the same if they'd like. In the Qualities file, I reordered them and added the book that they're in to the names so that I could find a quality faster (because I don't usually remember which book it's in):

I added shapeshifters to the racial choices in the Custom folder:

Also, I don't know where custom Qualities are stored -- it's not in the Qualities file in the Custom folder, though. I added the Martial Arts qualities and the Qualities file in the Custom folder is blank. I can close and reload the SR4CharGen, though, and those are still valid choices for me and they're still there when I open the Qualities editor.

It should be saving it to "<Install Directory>\Data Files\Custon\Qualities.data".

Perhaps you selected the Qualities.data file in the Data Files directory instead of Custom?
Or maybe your editor didn't refresh the file after it was modified?

This isnt open source yet. I'll make it open source once I release the update I intend to. I make no guarantee about when that update will be.

Problem. If I have custom data on my character and I send the character to another person (GM). I have to send my custom file with it or the character will not load correctly.

I am wondering if saving the custom information on the character its self would be better than in the custom file. That would make the characters more portable.

Sorry if this was covered, I haven't been able to go through the entire list yet.

Is there a way to alter some of the functions like how many skills at what level you can purchase? (Not just either one at rank 6 and the rest at 4 or less, or two at rank 5 and the rest at 4 or less.) I would like to be able to make Prime Runners, but have only been able to increase the amount of BPs and some things under Options (would love to be able to increase all the factors a bit more). Thanks.

PS: Love this thing and would be willing to pay $$ for a finished version.

.xps (microshit´s "pdf")
and the "journal note writer"

pdf and html ec. if u have pdf creator installed (foxit phantom , adope , ...)
