This is unreal. I just had the wildest damned day I've had in months, and it may now get worse in the future. To top it I had a looong detailed character write up, but not boring, intense stuff a GM or other players could really use and the damned forum there DUMPED IT in the process of posting. Just my damned luck today, really. I'll try it again tomorrow and see if I get luckier but wow, what a weird, shitty day. Isshia Still interested? It's looking like I could use a third there. |

yes you can. looks like an incoming trainwreck for me, both on the personal and work side <.< As a poster it really doesn't take that much effort. Heck you could almost copy past some of my suggestions to get you started, and i bet you could just run with it from there. On a side note, out of context quotes from the game "You don't have to let the girls rip off your clothes." Me as the GM to one of the players on what one of the PC catgirls was doing to him. |

*Comes in yawning in nothing but his boxer-briefs*What's all this about now? PG is good, just managed to pin down a girlfriend, so fades to black would be great...but I think I've pretty much solidified my rep as a flirt on here...

I dunno what got that face, me with a girlfriend (which isn't that uncommon, been in pretty much back-to-back relationships this entire millenium, so far) or me "pinning her down"...

Heh, just because I'm playing a potential love interest for some girl in a game? Hardly, my girl's a gamer too, 'swhy she's here, and a great one to boot. I got no worries.

I knew a real person named Portia back in high school. I was really attracted to her and I guess we had good conversations, but seeing as I was a gamer that's as far as it ever could have gone. You know maybe more people should run games like mine. I've been shocked and appalled at how shy gamer (and anime fan) guys are EVEN WHEN POSTING ONLINE. I mean the woman isn't even there and you can take all the time you want writing a post or PM. Though maybe I shouldn't complain. Tides of guys who were socially inept is probably why my fat dorky ass has had so much luck with women. Of course now that I'm married I don't care about odds and we need a new generation of little gamers, so I'm happy to help. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

I.....don't understand the problem.......confusing...... You mean from the OP? I'm running a different sort of RPG where about half of the focus is on characters RPing with other PCs. It features a bunch of females and some guys. All suffer from too fragging much shyness for a forum game. And some of the guys have crippling levels of this. Plus there aren't enough of them. People tend to pair up boy/girl it's hard to maintain any other group than that. Thus lonely girls. I wanted DS guys to fix this problem. So far, pretty shacky results. Apparently shooting people in the face on the tabletop for years does not translate in being able to go up to a girl and flirt with her. Bringing in DSer #4 and hoping for the best. |

So far, pretty shacky results. Apparently shooting people in the face on the tabletop for years does not translate in being able to go up to a girl and flirt with her. Well, yeah. I can't flirt because it gives me this uncomfortable feeling, a combination of feeling self-conscious and socially out of line. It's easy enough to talk to anyone about any number of topics, but trying to flirt is more stressful than going and participating in a job interview. In most conversations you can if nothing else follow a certain logic to see it through. You can insofar as it's possible try to approach it like you're on the other person's side. You can project sincerity from your heart and genuinely seek to accomplish what you need to accomplish while at the same time doing everything you can to treat the other person fairly. This method is the fundamentals to getting through any number of difficult and sticky situations. But with flirting, what the hell can you say? Whatever's going through your head is pretty much ultimately not socially acceptable. What is the true essence of what you're trying to communicate? "You're attractive, you possess a degree of charm from what I can ascertain in our limited interactions, and I'd really like you to do something sexual with me." Or, "You're attractive, and I am at this time taken by your personal charm, and it would satisfy me emotionally if I had a sexy high-res picture of you on my hard drive I could set as my desktop background and stare at from time to time, as it gives me something of a thrill and a sense of satisfaction to see you." Or, "I have a sense of admiration for you due to various factors, and this leads me to wonder what you look like naked." I think it really requires being emotionally vulnerable to say that to someone especially since there's no practical aspect to what you want to communicate but instead it's just highly personal emotional content. That's a very difficult thing to come out and say with sincerity from the heart especially when you don't know how the other person would react. So, I ask, how do you flirt? What sorts of things would you say? What ideas do you convey? |

@ wounded Ronin
What you're talking about only applies for the simplest conversations. Say where you're trying to get a Big Mac or whatever. But, say, take when you're telling a joke or sitting down to GM. You don't say. "I'm hoping to make you laugh at my witty anecdote, and think I'm cool and funny" and when I GM I don't say "I hope to blow your fucking minds and have you complement me until my ego inflates like a Zeppelin" No. Instead you just tell the joke and hope they enjoy it, or you run the game and hope it's awesome. Same deal with flirting. And you aren't being any less sincere than when telling a joke or GMing. Well, unless you're trying to pretend to just be her "nice guy platonic friend". But if you're flirting right there shouldn't be that confusion. Though frankly in regards to my game I wouldn't even require actual flirting. Any kind of interaction will do. |

I'm not sure if a RPG forum is the best way to ask for advices about flirting. From my experience though, the most effective flirting is the one you do without realizing it. If you have to be someone different to flirt with a girl, she's probably not the girl for you... Well, a lot of men don't really bother about that... There's a lot you can do with neuro linguistic programming and other social "cheating" methods, but I don't want to expand on this.
Just don't stress it too much. Just casually chat, and if you want to mention how attractive she looks, don't hesitate to tell her, but don't make a whole scene out of this. That's at least valid for most of the girls I've met so far, but it might be a cultural thing as well so it might not work that way with the girls where you live. |

I.....it's just......girl gamers?...........females?.........someone....I just.......? It was kinda cool, during those years I played with my gang of girls, playing a cute, redheaded girl and being hit on IC by a guy played by one of the girls. Role playing... you can't beat it. Peter |
