Very well. We shall meet here in two weeks, and you shall have the datachip. The passcode is "These noodles are funk-o-diddly."
The Johnson hands you 4 small black certified credsticks with "1000Â?Â?Â¥" emblazoned upon the edges. |

The Johnson only now realizes that the pixie is there.
Oh. Is. . . that a member of your team? The Johnson hesitates, then pulls out a velvet bag. He spills the contents out. This should be 1100Â¥ worth of gold: after exchange, it'll be 1000. |

Rose giggles. "That'll be fine. However, I do have a question. Maybe you even have an answer! What do these lines represent?" She indicates the dotted lines.

The Johnson looks a little at some AR display. Then, beads of sweat break out on his face and his eyes widen as his English breaks down a little:
According to my file. . . those are the place where there is hanged monowire in long holidays. My not saying beforehand really is regrettable. Please do not enter in long holidays. |

Kinesics notwithstanding, Dancer still keeps her expression bland only with an effort.
"Ah. Perhaps you should give us a copy of those files - or at least the relevant bits, so we know about any more such... surprises. And we are still a bit unclear about which security features this other runner team disabled, or how long their sabotage will last without being detected. I understand your time is at a premium, and will try not to impose too much on it. But it would be better if we were all clear on everything before we take off running." |

Now, those files are classified properties of Shiawase, and I should not even be talking of them to you. The sabotage will last for the month that you shall do the job in, and they disabled certain perimeter defenses that would've made entry much harder. Thank you.
He leaves, joining the flood of Shiawase zombies shuffling their way to Shift 3. |

"Talk about 'taking off running'...wow," Dancer murmurs, seeming bemused as their Johnson beats an undignified retreat. Apparently he has said all that he's going to. She turns to the others.
"I guess the clock is ticking now. Assuming everyone is still in, we need to start planning the job. Do you want to do it here, or go someplace more secure?" |

Doc's expesion clearly changes to a much more annoyed one. He waves his arm toward the Johnson's retreating back.
"That right there is why I hate Johnsons. No wonder he was so eager to seal the deal. He didn't want to give us the information we needed. I say we do a very thourough check of the place and have a plan to walk if this Johnson is as full of it as I think he is." |

Rose hops onto the table and walks over to the bag of gold and digs through it for a moment. She glances over at the others and a hint of annoyance flashes across her face. "Before I go into that place, I want to know everything about it. Too much was left out by Mr. J. Anyone know of any locations more secure than this where we can talk?"

Dancer nods.
"Sounds about right, Doc. In a way, I'm glad the other shoe has dropped. On the other hand, there could still be a closet-full of size 12's waiting to fall on us. We were paid for our time, so we can check it out. Every Johnson hides a few things and downplays the risk. We can always take the advance and walk, but let's only do that if this guy is way over the line." At Rose's question, she looks to Doc and Whisper. "My place is out - paper thin walls, no privacy. Any place you guys know? And yeah, we definitely need to double-check things ourselves, since we don't know how good the other team was, and can't trust the Johnson." |

Malloc.I's attention is apparent only because his hologram manages to look at whoever is speaking - but he doesn't add a whole lot to the conversation. He is busy running the requested data search on information about Knight Errant, and what they offer in the way of physical security. However, from the sounds of things, this company did not take their security very seriously. He took a brief moment to speak up - as usual, the voice is broken and sampled from a number of conversations.
"Question. Does anyone understand, what is datachip belonging there?" |

He is busy running the requested data search on information about Knight Errant, and what they offer in the way of physical security. However, from the sounds of things, this company did not take their security very seriously. He took a brief moment to speak up - as usual, the voice is broken and sampled from a number of conversations. "Question. Does anyone understand, what is datachip belonging there?" Eight minutes of searching on the entire Matrix for Knight Errant's security gives you thousands and thousands of hits. A montage of the best info: Knight Errant differentiates itself from Lone Star by providing stable, permanent and low-maintenance permanent physical fixtures designed to help your security handle intruders, as opposed to Lone Star's spider-based approach. A facility can have gun emplacements fixed around the entire facility, but if the intruders can't get through the lock, then thousands and thousands of nuyen were wasted. Of course, both of them do a lot of the same stuff. Their catalog is categorized into three subsections: Perimeter Security, Building Security and Guards. Knight Errant can provide everything from fat donut-eaters to the best of the best, with the corresponding pay scale. TruTech opted to get decently-trained mostly-mundane guards. Cybereyes, not wired reflexes. The facility bought a KE Level Two security package, which comes with spotlights, a perimeter wall with a concertina fence at the bottom, and three regular patrols. However, the patrols do take breaks at 1000, 1200 and 200, for twenty minutes each(so the first patrol takes its break at 1000, the second at 1200, etc). KE backup has an estimated response time of twelve minutes. The mage assigned to this building for the next 2 months was Lars Aanders, who quit yesterday for "personal reasons". The security spider who was supposed to manage the node is Enrico Valequez, who has been fired last week for taking BTL's on the job. TruTech has, for some reason, opted not to replace the mage and the spider yet, instead signing up for KE Level One Quick Response for both matrix and astral security, with a response time of maybe ten minutes. The KE Level Two security package comes with rating 4 maglocks for all the doors, and reinforced plate glass windows. It does not come with any sort of monowire of any kind in any way, shape or form. Of course, this is the standard Level Two security package. Usually, customers customize their packages heavily. All you can find on the subject of the datachips is that TruTech is the leading manufacturor of environmentally-resistant datachips. Their advertisements are famous, being mostly composed of datachips being put under incredibly hostile conditions and surviving with data intact. |

As the rest of the team continues to discuss matters, or decide to change locations, Malloc.I works diligently on his task. A few minutes later, Malloc.I copies his query results into a message to Rose, but includes a copy to everyone on the team, so they get some idea what they will be up against.

Doc listens to everyone at the table, then he responds to Dancer first.
"I am all for completing the job, I didn't sense that the Johnson was being deceptive. But I think he left in a hurry to keep from giving us any more info and that is making me a but paranoid. I just think we need to ensure we have a plan to walk away if need be, something solid. I am also thinking we need to put a little effort into checking out Mr. Johnson ourselves. Something in my gut just doesn't set with that guy." He then turns to Rose, "As for a place to work out the details, I would offer my clinic but I have other docs and patients coming in at all hours of the day and night so it really isn't private either." |

The following is over the teams commlink.
No place is better than here, the food is decent and Malloc.I can make sure we arn't listened in on. We need to do 3 things I would think. First, we need to find everything we can about this place, on the matirx (his little AR icon wich bears a remarkable resemblance to Samurai Jack, nods to Malac.I) then we need to get eyes on the place, both in the real world and in the astral. Once we have noted all the security features we can, we then plan our physicalk insertion. Am I right to assume Mal, that whatever the matrix security is you should be able to ride overwatch on their systems? |

Malloc.I's holographic avatar, and his matrix icon nod in assent. Over the team's channel, he adds,
My expectation of matrix security is low. I can overwatch. I can begin probing defenses and installing backdoors, as soon as we know when we plan to initiate. Time-frame to plan? The message comes across in text, dotted with helpful images, icons, AROs, and additional information to convey his meaning other than through the English language. That, coupled with the fact that he is speaking about Matrix-related things, makes Malloc.I significantly more intelligible than he is, "in person". |

Rose shrugs. "If Mr. J's telling the truth, I can be in and out in no time, so I say we plan to take a couple hours to confirm his claims and plan our insertion."

Dancer agrees.
"Sounds good. I can be anywhere you guys need me on this." Despite her upbeat tone, she feels a touch of the familiar insecurity that comes and goes. The brusque, no-budging Johnson has already made her look less than impressive in her face role, and the trouble with being the muscle is that, if the run goes smoothly, it seems you're just standing there watching everyone else do the work. She can sneak, too, but she's no flying, invisible being like Rose. She's probably fretting too soon. There might be all kinds of things for her to do. At least this isn't a P2.0 team, out to make sim recordings of the run. Glad as she is to be out of Seattle, L.A. is still quite a culture shock. |

Whisper nods, "ok then, Dancer why don't you and Rose scout the place out on the ground, Doc can you be their backup? I'll do the astral scouting, and Mallac.I can figure out the best time for us to take the target. Any questions? Ok wev'e got all our comm's so if anything comes up you can call for back up."

Doc nods "I can provide backup, no problem. I'll keep my ear open for you as well. Perhaps you can have a watcher ready to get me if you need additional magical support. I'm no combat mage but I think I can help you if needed."
Doc then turns his attetnion to the ladies. "So what do you need from me for backup?" |

Dancer shrugs.
"I'm not sure. We're checking out the perimeter defenses, right? You might stay near, or have a spirit stay near us, for some spell defense. Their on-site mage is supposed to be gone, but that's the kind of thing we're checking out, to make sure it really is like that." |

Doc looks slightly abahsed at Rose's request, "Sorry no physical mask, my illusoins tend to be on a grander scale and can be very draining. I can make one of you two as fast as a tweaked out sammie, but other than that my magic is focued toward my medical practice. I am not as versed in spirits as many casters are. My affinity toward the Pheonix has led to a greater study of fire spirits when I need to get physical. I could try to summon a spirit to help with concealment but you'd be drawing attention to yourselves on the astral plane. My spirits are not terribly powerful."

Doc smiles at Dancer's reassurances, "Like I've said in the past, I prefer to keep my role in the group as an academic one. Things tend to be getty messy when my medical skills are in need."
He sits for a minute then speaks up to no one in particular. "I'm thinking we may need some chemical protection for whoever removes the chip from the tank, just because the liquid looks like water doesn't mean that it is. I can think of a few things that could be added to aid in testing the protective coatings on that thing." |
