No problem. To be honest I didn't even know such a thing existed til I was caught in a conversation and someone mentioned that they do that locally. Besides, it' a interesting look into governmant and what they'll do to get taxes.

On a side note, our local homeless shelter got shut down because they ran out of funds.

QUOTE (Larme @ Dec 13 2008, 08:40 AM) *
I think we're talking about hobos who have no place to sleep, as opposed to spammers with the computer skills to troll and phish the web for free money. I think that if someone was able to do that, they would at least have a nice squat going...

I didn't mean spammers, I meant the guys with the webcomic/forum/blog/whatever and a paypal donate button stuck on the front page. When everybody with a commlink effectively has their own web(matrix) server, it makes sense a lot of them would stick a donate button up just on the off chance that someone visiting their node will decide to do so--with enough traffic the odds are in your favor.

And while I know the discussion has focused specifically on street beggars, my point was that it's still a form of begging and definitely has the "Panhandling: 2070's Style" feel to it.

For bums, I imagine they'd probably have an old credstick somone threw away clutched tighter than life itself. That works for transactions without an account--it's basically the SR4 equivalent of a check: A meat world token authorizing the payment of funds from someone's account to the bearer.

Hardcash,Coins and Banknotes stil exist in SR(4).Its only getting rarer when you climb up the social Ladder. If you're living on Streetlevel or in low Lifestyle Areas, hardcash ist quite common, in medium it starts to get rarer and in upper Lifestyle it's quite uncommon.
And the Beggar at the Corner won't be found in upper Areas
