I don't seem to be able to search very well and keep getting side tracked by what I do find, so here are a couple of questions that may have already been handled:
1. What type of drone is the Lynx (pg 341), walker or crawler? 2. What is the point of passive targeting (pg162)? (You make a Sensor test to detect a person, I'm assuming that's enough to let you shoot at them.) |

(You make a Sensor test to detect a person, I'm assuming that's enough to let you shoot at them.) You are correct that the successful sensor test allows you to detect a person. Normally the dice pool for shooting something once it has been detected is Pilot + Gunnery. Passive Targeting allows you to swap the Pilot part of the linked attribute over to Sensor. This is helpful for drones with nice sensor suites which are cheap to upgrade and have fairly low availability. This means you could take high sensor ratings at character generation, versus a Rating 6 Pilot which has a price tag of 15,000 and availability of 18. Rules as written you cannot buy an item with availability higher than 12 at generation. |

I've always figured the steel lynx had wheels. Essentially an ATV with a gun.

the lynx, from earlier editions at least, has wheels on legs, basically... think like a water strider, but wheels on the end of the legs. the legs only really allow the lynx to pop up, as i understand it... no walking, but it can move all the legs 'in' to be able to pop up from behind a barrier, shoot, and then drop back to full cover again (it's this kind of specialised capability that likely results in the lynx having the defense autosoft prepackaged with the drone)

I'm kind of glad they didn't include any drone pictures in this edition. It reduces the damage to the drywall in my house.

hmmm.... i guess you shouldn't pick up arsenal (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) I did, despite the really atrocious cover. IIRC, the German one was better. Or was that augmentation? |

I think it should be noted that you do not need a sensor lock in order to shoot something; getting a sensor lock just gives a dicepool bonus.

in my group the steel lynx is a four legged drone, with something of a torso, that is how we all see it, the torso armed with LMG.
jsut to show the difference in our looks;P though I admit ours might be WAY off |

I had always imagined the Lynx as a drone that runs on tank treads and is sorta built like a tank.

I always saw it as a Voltron-styled ground drone - until in Arsenal I figured out it didn't have walker mode. Now I see it as kinda like an APC with a gun mount. A little bit of a killjoy.

This site has a bunch of shadowrun drones, including a picture of the steel lynx (not the best, mind you, but it should be more helpful than the description i've been able to give...)

Anyone else go to this site, get down to the "I n t e g r a t e d W e a p o n S y s t e m s D L K MK 6 U t i l i t y M a c h i n e", and have a flash-back to the movie "Short circuit"?
