Going there and was wondering what it would be like in the world of shadowrun. Still milk and honey? maybe magic users making wonders things walking down the throughfare? actual realistic animatronics?

wish me luck getting tinkerbell, snow white, pocahantis, jasmine, cinderella, bell all in one room! When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are, you'll get all them hot babes to yourself! *looking out the window with my elbows on the sil and my head in my hands dreamily wishing upon a star with big puppy dog eyes"

it is to dream.....champagne wishes and azure dreams.........champagne wishes and azure dreams.....

I don't know about DisneyWorld, but Disneyland is detailed in the Los Angeles section of Corporate Enclaves. The short version is that it, research labs and it's employee housing have consumed all the land boxed in by Highways 22, 55, and 91, and the new coastline after most of LA sank into the sea. 100% Horizon owned and operated since 2065. Real bad racist/anti-meta problems in the housing areas, peachy keen in the theme parks proper.

Watch out for the Jarhead Walt Disney. He was reanimated and now runs the park. Small World is mandatory it will indoctrinate you into the truth of the Holy Drop.
My Drop Bear commandoes have taken over Disney as a Re education camp in the ways of the Holy Drop.

Disney World in florida is a great vacation but they like to insulate you from the outside world. My guess is it will continue with that into the 2070's updating the F/X's all the way.

Disney is Horizon-controlled, and Disney World is Horitzon's entertainment showcase. It has been upgraded from the ultra-security enterprise it was made out to be in the Cali SB and now is a fortified, floodwall-protected, ultra-high-security enclave for Horizon employees and a host of amusement locales (Corp Enclaves has a long rundown of Virtual World Disney and it's interior workings; for older info, see if you can get ahold of a California Free State book).

Is Disney now owned by Horizon? I got the impression from Corp Enclaves that they owned the resort in LA (don't remember which one it is). Does this mean that the Florida and Paris ones are similar?

Anyway, if you want all the Disney Princesses, I'm sure they're available as BTLs.

VWD are, like pretty much all American media, part of Horizon (Turner-Hisato was assimilated by the Consensus as well). And presumably, the other Disney theme parks (you ommitted Tokyo and the one in China, Shanghai I think) are a lot like the one in California, but there's never been much info there to give you a definite answer.

I suppose they have disney princesses and other disney figures available as virtual personae too (with special autosofts for naughty things, if you're so inclined), and all is FLASHY and NEW and thoroughly BETTER in that mysterious Horizon way now.

or AS Darkwing Duck

As for Hocus, don't worry, you'll soon get to recognize how his mind works.

DLN's right about Disney Wrold in RL shutting out the outside world. It's damn hard to find a newspaper or a mail box while you're there. I can see how people would want to still escape to the faux world of disney, maybey even more so in the world of 2070. A club meet with Johnson on Pleasure Island, hijacking a monorail, summoning a spirit outside the Haunted Mansion, oh the possibilities. Would disney Tokyo and Euro-disney survive? maybe, what about Parc Asterix?

I believe CanRay did a run involving the extraction of Goofy. From what he says, hilarity was had for all. I really wish he'd post a run down of that whole mission.

Think Kingdom Hearts, with more guns.

And at some point, a Grade 12 Magic 18 initiate who has been surgically modified to look exactly like Mickey Mouse will go Sorcerer's Apprentice on your ass.

In one game I GMed I had the players visit Disney World. The guards had full body sec armor with helmets that was shaped like Mickey Mouse suits.

PROTIP: If a magician attempts to levitate high in the air, but aforementioned magician then gets shot by a bunch of guys with assault rifles and takes a D wound, there's additional damage on top of all that for hitting the ground at whatever heights. Bounce bounce splork.

Disney Land and Disney World are both seperate corporations that are under the umbrella of Disney. (For example, Disney Entertainment is a different corp to. In the college classes you can take through Disney in Florida, the classes can't use Disney movies because they don't have permission from Disney Entertainment. The teacher didn't want to hear about how classes are allowed to use media for classroom purposes.)

The other parks are Paris/EuroDisney, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. Disney Paris is a joke, because the French goverment went back on a bunch of it's agreements with Disney after Disney had invested to much money to pull out.

And Disney interns already joke that there are Disney swat teams all in black, with round black ears on the top of their helmets and on the end of their billyclubs (and of course Mickey Heads on the shields).

My 2 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) : the parks will all have been expanded. Entertainment magicians will run (relatively) rampant, of course all the latest and greatest. Animal Kingdom will have all sorts of cool Awakened creatures, in addition to some very rare ones (since they are all about the conservation now, they might hold on while things go extinct in the wilderness). It will have become it's own county, since the CAS will want to keep them happy. They will have alot of security, since they are fairly close to the border with the Caribean League (and alot of smuggling passes nearby). MGM will continue to bring you the retro American experience. Epcot's world showcase will have been expanded, and feature a slot for the NAN. Tinkerbell will be a real pixie.

Frankly, I was always suprised that the Disney Corporation isn't a AA level corp in Shadowrun world. (It's not idealistic, the corporation is evil. Perfect SR material.) In many ways, WDW is the perfect example of corporate security. Nice friendly security guards in person, and crazy swat teams behind the scenes.

Hermit, while there will be untold amounts of princess porn, the corp would never offer it in the resort (officially).

SnowFox, there is a mail box on Main Street USA, next to the Mayor's office.

That Disney isn't a bigger part of the SR corporate structure is probably as much a copyright issue as it is a story concern.

The only thing that stands out in my mind about Disney Land (which is applicable to Disney World) is that it's mentioned in the CalFree book that the Disney parks have some of the most highly trained counter-terrorism units in the world.

I don't know, I think a semi-serious take on the Arcology Shutdown set in Disney Land might have real potential, if it didn't come off as a PARANOIA game.

That's almost a face-palm thing. Thanks for mentioning it Mercer, for some reason given the week I'm having I forgot about Disney's rabid attack lawyers.

But yeah... *thinks* A Disney Arcology shutdown would be pretty amazing.

Technically, with Horizon owning Virtual World Disney, all the properties (including online sites) are extraterritorial.

True, and to a degree the Magic Kingdom of Florida comes close to extraterritoriality as is. Schools, cops, housing communities all incorporated as their own governmental entity.
Orlando and Kissimmee do a great deal to kiss Disney's ass because of all the tourism dollars it brings in.

I'm just curious if Disney World managed to muscle out Universal Studios. In my little branch of the CAS I like to think there is big biz for runners ruining the vacations of the rival theme parks guests. "Happiest Place On Earth, my ass!" Of course this is born from a few years of living in Orlando and avoiding that side of town like the plague.

My last girlfriend (of five years) had a cousin at Disney World who was usually Snow White, and ocassionally Belle or Cinderella.

You should hear about the kinky shyte those girls are into... Your hot Ariel was as likely to be either an uptight Christian Fundamentalist, or be laying her beautiful red hair into a latex mask and crawling onto her hands and knees in a dog-cage as she lay down to sleep...

Wonder if the BTLs would be based on the RL actresses or the disney representations... and I wonder which would be more popular...?

True story from the above two posters, btw.

Disney represenations is my guesse. It's way kinkier that way.

That's interesting that she was three princesses though. I would love to know what her look is. Normally there isn't any (or very little) overlapping in playing the main princesses. (On the other hand, almost every Alice is Wendy, and vice versa.)

Hell, my group has gone up against the Disney World security. Considering that Disney has always had some of the best counter-terrorist rapid response forces in the world, yea, they got their hoops handed to them and ran away really fast.
