1.) Would a Rigger have to be inside walls using wi-fi inhibiting paint in order to issue commands and rig his drones?
2.) If a system is hardwired (cold storage) can a technomancer access it without a data jack? 3.) Does a node have to be rehacked if the hacker leaves the node completely? That's it, thanks. -Josh |

1.) i'd rather say in the same room, if his signal ain't strong enough to punch through. as it's not likely, that only the outside walls are painted like that. if only the outside walls are using this, then yes, same building will suffice and only usual wifi rules apply.
2.) if he does not have a wireless-adapter that he can connect to the coldwire stuff, then he will need a datajack. 3.) can't help you here. i don't really know my way around those rules, but my answers kinda make sense i think ^^ |

As I understand it:
1) It depends on the rating of the wi-fi inhibiting paint. A stronger commlink signal will penetrate (though the PC will most likely suffer negative modifiers due to a weakened signal unless it's so strong it breaks through the inhibitor), a weaker one will not. If the signal to a drone is fully interrupted by wi-fi paint, the link to the rigger will be severed. If the rigger was in VR he would suffer from dumpshock. 2) No. 3) Yes though this can be avoided if the hacker successfully installs a backdoor into the node. |

2) there is a interesting echo in unwired for just those situations. skinlink, p147, unwired.
also, take a look at optical tap and wireless adapter, p199-200, unwired. |

You've gotten a good answer on this, so let me help you work around the problem. There are several good ways into a building with WiFi inhibiting paint: removing the paint, getting inside the painted area and getting around the cage. Removing the paint is obvious; if the paint isn't there then it can't stop your signal. I suggest a kilo of ANFO with added shrapnel would cause enough damage to seriously impair its impedance if the paint is on a visible surface. Depending on your GM's take on construction methods in 2070, you might be able to argue that spalling would destroy internal surface paint and inside-wall layers. Getting inside is also obvious; step inside. Getting around is the most fun. If they have an internal fibre network, then find a way to tap that. If there are areas left unimpeded then you just need to route your signal through that. You can also create your own route in by running an optical cable between two drones. 3.) The account he cracked first time through may still be around. You can use this to get back in unless security has tracked it down and locked it. |

The answer to 3.) can be found in Unwired (pg. 97). Short answer: Hacking-on-the-Fly gains you one-time access, probing the targets gets you legitimate access or a reuseable exploit (GM call). Those who took the fast path can create a legitimate account.
