i understand the having to be on at the request of the guild. I've gotten to know them over the years and I really didn't like to disappoint them. Still, 4+ hours a night in icc a few days a week really wears on you no matter how much dirty talk the women say in vent. The past few weeks would make it a hassle for me to log on, and i found myself going back to leveling alts for my fun factor and preparing for raids like i had to cut grass.

The extra time i have now i've been able to finish the calking of the baseboards and trim i put up a few weeks ago, put on some roof flashings, started to read"east of eden" by steinbeck again..."fixed" a light fixture, and spent more time with my kids and wife (who being a wife, was annoyed at my presence...so increased computer porn time for me). Its a wonder how much time I've spent on wow and how much free time i now have.

Despite that I'm alreayd jonesing for a hit of the game, my GM knows my foibles and his regaling of the days since i left makes want to log on even more.

I tried an RP server, but didn't notice a greater incidence of roleplaying than on regular servers.

Most RP servers, the "regular" roleplay groups tend to be a little insular. Partly because a LOT of the rest of the population isn't actually roleplayers - the server I play on, Earthen Ring, has literally a third of the ENTIRE HORDE FACTION in a single mega-guild. A non-roleplay mega-guild that is based around some internet podcast website and it's fans.

Also, the roleplayers have tended to get picked on, mocked, and ridiculed by assholes..

So you often have to do a little hunting to find the roleplay.

On Earthen Ring, there are out-of-character in-game chat channels set up for people looking for roleplay. "forthealliance" and "forthehorde" for Alliance and Horde factions, respectively. There's also a roleplay message board at http://earthen.ning.com for out of game discussion.

i wonder if i still have the lolita music video around on a drive. Pesky thing was like a more refined version of the "jailbait schoolgirl" video that rocketed britney spears to stardom...

or perhaps it was not a music video but a stage performance. Probably could get someone in jail in the more pedophile-sensitive areas of this planet.

ah, what youtube do not have these days: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyHd8EXaw2c

Moon Guard had a pretty good RP-PvP thing going on between Alliance and Horde up until about June, when the leads on both ends got exhausted from herding cats. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

True about the insular nature of RP, though. A lot of it is guild-based simply for the greater guarantee that you'll get better-quality roleplay than heading into Mos Eisley a Las Vegas Strip-club Goldshire.

Not entirely sure if they're still doing it (and it hasn't been high-quality for about a year), but Ally-side on Moon Guard had the Gnews, gnightly at gnine. Think it's gone relatively Jerry Springer as of late, though.

I tried a RP server, forget which one, but is was supposedly a larger one.

I ended up playing in character and trying to talk to other toons as well as vendors and the like. Once or twice, someone passed the time with me, but those were in spurts of 10-15 minutes. I got invited into a guild after my 4th or 5th night of trying to RP, but that ended up being nothing more than a normal guild I was used to (meaning, a lot of leveling and gear grinding).

Overall, I didn't notice a difference between a RP Server and the PvP Server I had all my 80s on.

Now, I could have been doing it all wrong, but at 1st level, all I had were some basic quests that I tried to roleplay with and I made up some story that I lost my pet beetle and needed help looking for it. I was familiar with the region I started in, so I referenced towns and landmarks to try and get something fun going on, but it just never happened...

That's too funny HP. I ended up making some alts and not telling my friends about them, so I could just play at my own pace, in peace and enjoy the game without being asked to log onto my THIS or THAT and help run an instance I had done 50 times already... WoW is a lot of fun, but when you are leveling, you can't wait to get to end game and when you are at the end game, you just want to go back and enjoy questing and leveling...

I heard december 7 was the realease date for cat.

am thinking about going back. My kids keep asking me "can I play your game?". I've told them I no longer play it, but they keep asking me once and awhile. They have been very good at school and I reward them for good behavior, so its possible

Yup, Dec 7 is the confirmed Cata release date. I'm expecting the pre-release patch to drop tomorrow, and the class rework patch to drop first week of November.

In the meantime, prot paladins are horrendous broke right now. Many, many wasted GCDs and Holy Power as they exist on the PTR. the consensus is that the pre-release patch is designed to get all the FOTM prot paladins back to their original class before it's fixed.

My primary beefs are losing my treeform on my resto druid, and seeing how badly they borked the DK mechanics. I run two healers (three, when the Shammydwarf comes out), a rogue and a DK - and rogues never change. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

I don't play but I used to spend a lot of time twinking for a guild. Long story and I think you guys on here know I love finding "winning" combos or little exploits. I got feed up with it when the guys I used to do it with moved. Basicly a guy that helped me understand the mechanics with out me playing the game.

I see what you mean about Paladins in general now that 4.0 dropped. Ran an Icecrown with a protadin and a healadin on my resto druid. The protadin couldn't handle threat from the DPS, let alone the other tank and I outhealed the holydin on the Dreamwalker fight by a factor of two...when he had the massive healing buffs and I didn't.

Meh, I don't find threat to be an issue. I was pulling 11k single target tps in ToGC while not tanking. That was enough for me to hold on par with our top dps. That was me not getting the benefit of Reckoning or Vengeance. That was me averaging 1-2k tps higher than I was pulling in ICC pre-patch. I don't think I would have threat issues in ICC. I'm a tad irritated about tanking in ICC10 heroic lich king. It seems that our holy paladins aren't as spammy as they used to be so it feels like we're on an RNG on whether I will be able to survive tanking the shambling horrors.

What did Blizz remove in terms of pally talents? I'm thinking the two 'dins we had in our ICC10 run were victims of "don't know their class from a hole in the ground" rather than any significant nerf.

I haven't gotten to try out pally healing yet - been busy since the patch dropped so I haven't had the chance to play. First real test will probably be this weekend since my druid's saved to LK attempts now.
