Hi all,
How do you all handle where riggers park their security vehicles, especially ones with visibly restricted or forbidden weapons or addons? I can see needing a fake license for possession or operation but storage is another matter ... you can't just park that fully-loaded chopper at the municipal airport. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Thanks! |

The lower security areas are good bets. D zones and the like. Just consider the lifestyle payments bribes to the local gangs to "Keep an eye on the place".

We stored our Banshee in an abandoned geothermal plant out of the lava flats. I can't remember what it's formally called. We "legally" bought the site at a pretty good price.
Typically riggers in our games seem to live in crappy large buildings with large garage doors and no usable windows and just park their vehicles near their cot. |

Yep. When/If they release a Sprawl Survive Guide type book for sr4, it gets much easier to do stuff like price out the lifestyle costs for a 4 car garage in Redmond for your Rigger.
*edit* Which I was just pointed to, is possibly in Runners Companion. |

My last rigger could store everything he owned in the van. And fit the rest of the party. Barely.
Of course, he did have a "home" and could ditch some stuff there when needed, but beyond that it never came up. |

In our campaign, our riggers generally kept any aircraft in the outlying farming areas. It was established by our GM that there are old, unused airstrips that serviced cropdusters and the like once upon a time.
For ground craft, it was usually old warehouses and parking garages in the former business district of Redmond. And enough nuyen/firepower to dissuade squatters and gangers. |

Luckily, my group's rigger likes to maintain a low profile and doesn't go out of his way for restricted vehicles, instead preferring civvies with lots of room to conceal equipment. That being said, they recently purchased an abandoned fire station to use as a group office/crash pad/repair site. I'm sure they'll fill up some of the garages with more interesting and less legal items before too long.
Edit: I should note that the fire house is located just outside of Touristville and they paid heavily for gang "security", echoing what others have said above. |

Our rigger usually lived in the worst dives in the barrens, paid off or made nice whatever gang was about (often working in trade) and had security drones to boot). when they finally got a hold of a submarine which I gave them as a reward or a particularly hard run, I left well enough alone and found a reason to give them a dock because what fun is a submarine if you can't use it...and mod it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinbig.gif) |
