I recently dug up a film compilation I put together a couple of years ago and posted it on youtube after a quick polish (I was on dialup back then, hence the delay in uploading;). It may be useful in introducing players to SR or at least setting some mood with it's Bladerunner inspiration.
NB: The HD version link should hopefully be a higher resolution. The Sprawl The Sprawl HD To make this thread a bit more useful perhaps anyone with media or links could post them here. A search at youtube showed a couple of SR art montages set to music amongst the FPS footage and somewhere I recall seeing a FASA introductory film but there must be more! |

Saw a clip or two from Minority Report. Was there some from Fifth Element? Is that what it was? I recognized the flying cars and the music.

Looks like a video mashup of the "What movies remind you of Shadowrun" threads. I saw cuts from: Babylon AD (future NY and orbital shot), I-Robot (the shiny future Chicago stuff), Minority Report (pod tracks), Blade Runner (anything dark with rain and smog), and Black Rain (modern Tokyo).
I couldn't place 1:38. That isn't Alderaan from Episode 3 is it? Narcosys, a 2000 "cyberpunk" direct to video movie. It was really bad but it got the look right. Anyone remember Nemesis and Nemesis 2? And here's a nice little mashup of the cyberpunk hits of the 90s. |

There's no Fifth Element and the scene at 1.38 is from Serenity. You named the rest IIRC.
I'll have to chase up Narcosys since it looks like an Oz production. I made a preview for Nemesis as a bit of a lark since when we saw it again it looked pretty rough considering we remembered it being good when we saw it in the halcyon days of SR1 & 2. My theory being that a good preview/trailer plus changing the aspect ratio to 16:9 are all that seperates Nemesis from being a blockbuster ;) Edit: I was going to comment on the music as Draco mentioned. I used Vangelis since Bladerunner is the Source man! The GitS bit was thrown in because I didn't know what else to use (and was too lazy). I notice most cyberpunk material on youtube etc. seems to use techno or occassionally hip hop. |

Weird, I don't think I've seen those other movies, yet I felt like I knew what I was watching.
