Single-wielding:

12 agility (scary character!) + 8 pistols + 1 reflex recorder + 3 improved ability:automatics + 2 smartlink = 26 dice on Automatics rolls.

Alternately:

(12 agility + 8 pistols + 1 reflex recorder + 3 improved ability)/2 = 12. Not including 5BP spent on ambidexterity and those pesky new-target penalties.

It's really only worth doing if you have a truly unspeakable number of dice to throw - and remember, all penalties effectively count double!

Is a skill of 8 even possible? I thought the natural maximum was 7.

You're correct. I'm presuming he's including weapon specialisation? In which case, specialisations are not halved when you are dual wielding.

I'm not even sure you can use the Reflex Recorder with Improved Ability 3 as the maximum you can exceed the skill by is 1.5x the skill rating.

You can't ; +3 Total is the most so either Impr.Ability3 or Impr.Ability2 + Reflex Recorder
(and Specialisation is a modifier to be added after splitting the Pool)
So it would be
AGI 12 + Skill 6 + 3 improved Skill =21 D Pool to be Split

+ Specialisation
+ Tracer Rounds
- Vision
- Distance
- Cover
- Recoil (x 2)
-Movement
+/- Size

Not quite. If you purchase the aptitude quality but only have the skill at 6 you could use Improved Ability 3 and the Reflex Recorder for 10 total.

No, it's current skill level*1,5 not maximum skill level, so +3 is always max.

You're right. I forgot that this is a general limitation, I thought this was only a rule for the improved ability.
