Lexicon
Credsticks and Certified Cred: A credstick is an antiquated way of carrying money, but still widely in use. Like paper money is today. You can connect a credstick to any standard com (think USB port) and transfers money from or certified cred to it. Certified cred has actually replaced credsticks per se. The certified cred is like an electronic bank draft, drawn against and issued by a bank. To validate its legitimacy, you simply need a matrix connection that will sync to the bank and validate it as the authoritative copy of the cred. Once you validate to the bank, it changes validation keys thereby invalidating any fraudulent copies... So it is in your best interest to validate certified cred as soon as you get it. You can also get wireless credsticks which slave to a com and routinely validate the funds. Since that kinda defeats the purpose, they are not very popular in my Shadowrun. Most certified cred are drawn against either Cayman banks or Zurich Orbital, both being outside the legal reach of most governments meaning you have little concern of being traced. Though if you are concerned about the Big-10, you better have your cred drawn against the latter. When you 'spend' certified cred (as opposed to simply transferring it), the bank it is drawn against simply makes a transfer to a legitimate account of funds. Legitimate businesses who receive large amounts of certified cred, tend to have that cred "washed" by transferring it through shell accounts. Illegitimate businesses simply transfer the certified cred around. Banks that deal in certified cred deal in a bit of speculation regarding percentages of certified cred that will never be redeemed. |

Points of Interest
Doc Phin's Clinic: 168th Ave near 116th st Doc Phin is as ancient ork who runs a free clinic in the Barrens. In order to finance the free clinic, he also provides no questions asked premium services (50 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) + time/materials) Dave's Quicky Mart: 167th Place NE & 116th St Typical stuffer shack format with a large parking lot. Dave's seems like the hub of the area. A few cars are in the parking lot, but it is far from empty. A pair of orks watching over those coming and going at the doorway. The shelves are not full, but neither are they barren rather falling somewhere in between with all the product labels being obviously of the generic varieties. A number of coolers line the back wall, contained within are cheap microwavable food products and knock-off brand drinks. Ace Hardware Coffin Motel Converted from a retail store, the halls are cheaply assembled with some sort of framing and plywood sheets. The ceiling is obviously the original structure; Much higher quality. Inside doors are cheap, thin doors; Much like one would find to the bathroom or bedroom in mass produced housing. The rooms are just under 3m deep and just over 1m wide. The 'bed' is in fact a cot from a shelter or red-cross station and there are no linens Ugly Bob's: Everything you'd expect of a run down roadhouse favored the dregs of humanity. The lighting is poor and the decor is 2x4 furniture. The menu is simple: Fizzle-Cola, Bob's Brew or a Bob Bomb (Fizzle-Cola + Bob's moonshine). Boneless wings or BBQ burger and onion flowers or turnip fries are the regular food items. No one asks what the meat really is. Red-E-Stor: 166th Ave NE and NE 92nd Ave The storage units are two rows, front and back, maybe a dozen deep on each row. There is no lighting in the area and it is encircled by a chain link fence, with two rows of barbed wire across the top. A small office sits at the gate entrance to the lot; It is about 3m square. Good News Apartments: 16400 NE 91st Street An apartment complex in reasonable shape, the Warlords operate their HQ from here as do allied members of the Barrens underworld like the weapon's dealer Stitch. |
