Which one? SR3 vs. SR4, or how invisibility works?
Oh, as an aside, rigger is the best archetype. They beat everyone. |

But what should the ratio of turkey to wheat be on my sandwich? Personal preference really. I perfer 1:1 (by volume (pre-bread-squishing)). Otherwise? It's cool. I'm not arguing about it anymore anyway. I should note (as in my (useless) sig) that I play second edition. I've just gotten used to citing 4th as a matter of course in discussions (yelling). We're obviously not changing anyone's opinions about it the matter, so I wasn't planning to say anything else. |

When using a Tactical Computer (was it kept around in 4th?) adding radar would give you an extra die for marking checks, as an extra sense. I think that those opposed to radar as a 'sense' are taking the word too literally. Yes it is obviously not a NATURAL sense (i.e. Sight, smell, hearing), but then again, neither are Infrared and UV. After all, radar, like 'wifi' (actually, they are very close in wavelength), is really just a different wavelength of light that you're bouncing off the target. As such, Improved Invisibility should actually make radar rather ineffective. Link to electromagnetic spectrum diagram. I agree Waves are Waves. Light, sound, water, all the same man. they all have amplitude and frequency. So what mageboy needs to do is write himself an amplitude limiting spell, which limits the strength of outbound vibrations. (which is kinda how all these wave based detectors work, by bouncing a wave off the target) if he limits the return output to blend in with the environment it will seem like he is not there. and as a side note, be completely undetectable on a seismograph. |

I thought the 4A rules (not worrying about reality) were ultrasound and radar halve invisibility penalties. Isn't that how it works?

That's the case with ultrasound in SR3.

NOOO!! Not THIS Discussion again -.- This is why i HATE MAGES! Which edition was it where Invisability just gave everybody a pentalty to see you or something like that? I think maybe 1st or 2nd... i like that one more than the... "I'm completely invisible" Jackhole of a spell. Yeah blind fire is kind of the best answer for that kind of spell/ability. Hey i just turned invisible thats -8 to hit me, let alone you have to know where i might be! Personally i throw two gernades (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |
