I thought that being a know-it-all, cyborg might make people in Chicago not want to talk to you. Now that handsome troll fellow over there, he seems like the kind of guy I need to hire to rescue my friend from insect spirits.
Do I need to remove the "Good Looking" Edge? A 5 charisma troll really is a good looking fellow. "We have to go negotiate with that mercenary company for supplies. Send the robot and the troll to go talk to them." |

I revised his character sheet on page 2 with the Edge "Perfect Time." Perfect timing is something the flatvids and the pit taught to The Aristocrat. The fact that it meshes well with delay damage is just a nice benefit. |

FWIW, Jack doesn't have any visible cyberware for precisely that reason (not even a datajack). Plus, he's not a troll, so he has that going for him. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) |

You pair already have quite the odd-couple double act going on here. I vote for having two Faces.

Take note that I'm only shooting for a small group at the beginning of the game (with plenty of opportunities to integrate new characters later on), and as much as I always hate having to do this, it looks like there's already been more submissions than there are open player slots, so there will inevitably have to be cuts. That means that that if someone is playing a certain archetype, you don't need to worry about submitting something similar on account of potential skill overlap, because there's no guarantee that anyone will make it in.
That being said, I am trying to put together a team that works well together, so if you submit a guy with vital abilities that no one else has, that's going to drastically bump up your odds of making the cut. Right now, for the characters that have already been submitted, the major skill holes seem to be in B/E and rigging. Also, remember that you can submit more than one character, an option none of you lazy motherfuckers have taken advantage of yet. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) |

Lol, well, making the first one took a while - but a lot of that was re-learning SR3, so a second one might be doable before the 4th (that was the deadline right?)

Yup, so anyone who hasn't yet submitted a character or wish to submit another one has got three more days. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Also, if someone was thinking about making a rigger/B&E specialist... would you prefer that they set aside money for gear (vehicles, drones, kits, etc) despite the but-neked rule (since that gear would be pretty central to their concept) or does your rule free them from the obligation of doing so... and they should just expect to be ready to control any vehicle/drone/wahtever we find laying around (or, in teh B&E case, to put any electronic-kits or whatever to use)?

Riggers would be allowed to purchase vehicles and a remote control deck during character creation. B/E guys get no special provisions, but are likely to find some specialty goodies waiting for them when the free gear gets handed out.

I can do B+E. I could use an Electronics B/R Skillsoft and a toolkit but I have a solid stealth rating.

I've got some B&E use, the electronics skill and lock picking, combined with the climbing claws making second story jobs easier.

Yeah, remember that you need both Electronics and Electronics B/R to bust through a maglock - B/R to remove the casing and Electronics to mess with the circuitry. There are a few characters with Electronics at a moderate level, but I haven't seen anyone with Electronics B/R (with the exception of Renaissance Jack, who has a little bit of everything).

Oh yeah, something I forgot to mention in regards to Sam Jones: a specialization can never be higher than double the base skill, so you can't have Cyber Implant Combat/Climbing Claws: 1/6. I don't think you really need both Cyber Implant Combat and Unarmed Combat, so if you're hard pressed for points, you can just get rid of one of them and use the points for something else (like Electronics B/R! Of course, a real B&E specialist would probably have more than the 3 dice Jack can summon up. I envision him as a character who can fill whatever holes the team inevitably has, though, and maybe this ends up being one of them. Incidentally, if he manages to start with his physical skillsoft chips, he might be able to hook up Frank/Giblet with quite a lot of skills. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Of course, doing so would render himself almost entirely unnecessary. So, I doubt he will unless he really needs food or water or something. Trading might be in order, though - but I suspect we won't have the chips on hand. Also, when looking up what rating skillwires he had I noticed something that one of us misunderstood. Krayola, as far as the houserule about "light guns" and "medium guns", did you intend for that to mean that you're collapsing the usual gun skills into two skills, or that you're just changing what defaulting group they belong to? It appears I read the houserule one way, and crizh read it the other (and I haven't looked, but I'm sure other people are on different sides of that fence too), so some clarification might be useful (particularly if it means I can collapse 10 'softs into 2) Also, I might be looking at old data. *shrugs* |

I had a question about a concept, if I installed a fingertip compartment with a micro camcorder, would you let me DNI it to the image link in my cyber-eyes? This would in theory allow me to shoot around corners without having to expose myself to fire. Sound do-able?

Are there not rules in Man and Machine for putting independent eyes/ears in cyberlimbs?

This would in theory allow me to shoot around corners without having to expose myself to fire. Sound do-able? Sure. You'll still be taking half your cover as a TN penalty (which in this case would be +4), as well as the +4 modifier for making a ranged attack using an independent cybereye, but enemies won't be able to hit you. They will, however, still be able to call a shot to shoot at your gun or your finger with a +10 modifier (+8 with Smartlink 2). Yeah, that's why I think it would be particularly cool for you especially to roll up two characters, if you have the time. If we get a balanced team that covers all the bases, Jack ends up being almost completely useless, since there will always be someone who can do what he can at a higher level. On the other hand, if there are gaping holes in the team's capabilities, a skillwires guy becomes absolutely essential. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Yeah, I'll see what I can do this weekend. My work computer just bricked, so I may get wrapped up in solving that, first, but I had a cool idea forming for a rigger-type that might blossom once I get some free time.

Hmm, looks like we don't have any riggers right now. +10 awesome points to anyone who rolls up a rigger, since I just finished reading through Rigger 3 and would really like a chance to see them rules in action. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Well since you asked for a rigger, her is a humble offering. Johnny "Thunder" Background Thunder grew up part of a mostly Italian family in Detroit. While it wasn’t the motor city of the past, a lot of freight and transport came through there and he soaked up the idea that speed and steel were a fine combination when he was a kid. He has always been a little quick to jump into trouble, and a lot quick to go for a joyride. A little different life and he would have been a perfect Go Ganger. He ended up getting EMS training and getting set up as a rigger working for Crash Cart. As good a driver as he is, he is that bad a gambler. That caught up with him and got him retired. Since then he has been working the streets to make a living and feed his need for speed. Oh, and his car “Black Betty? It is named after an old song, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtqjmuUaYXA...feature=related 20 questions 1: What is the characters sex? Male 2 What is the characters size? A little on the short side for a human, but stocky. Maybe 5’7 200# [1.7m 85kg] 3 Color of hair, eyes and skin? Mediterranean olive tan, grey eyes, black hair [shaves head] 4:What is his general appearance? 5: Where was the character born? Detroit 6: When was he born? 2023, December 7, 14;27:18 7: What was his family? Father, mother, two sisters. All alive in Detroit last the heard. Mother is a drunk, oldest sister is married with 2 kids. The youngest is in a band. 8: Has he started his own family? no 9: Where and how was he educated? Public education in Detroit, Tech classes for EMS certification, Crash Cart training as rigger. Other than that, on the job and on the street. 10: Has he ever done anything else for his living? He worked as a paramedic/driver for Crash Cart. Other than that just odd jobs. 11: What about his political and religious beliefs? Basically agnostic. Other than a deep seated belief that all politicians are scum and out to screw people over he is not much of a political person. He has signed a few petitions and talks about how bad politics are, but he really isn’t that up on what is really going on. 12: What is his moral code? He doesn’t do the wet work thing. He may be a careless adrenaline junky, but he is also a paramedic. He cares if people live and get hurt. That being said, he also thinks most people get what they disserve as long as they don’t get caught up in the government and corps plots. Those bustards, they are out to get us all, so if it gets harry for them, well that’s ok. 13: Does he have any goals? Live fast and leave a fabulous looking corpse. He does not have anything planed long term, though he has thought about trying to get together the cash to finance a car in the NASCAR circuit. 14: Why does he run the shadows? Thrills, and the cash is good too, but mainly the adrenaline. 15: What is his personality? He is a type A adrenaline junky. He digs speed more than anything else. Driving fast, moving fast. He can be a bit unthinking about what the side effects of his actions will be but he is not actively cruel. Other than that he is pretty much a rationalist good at rationalizing what he wants. 16: What special abilities does he posses? He is rigged. 17: What certain things can he just not do? He has a hard time saying he can’t do something. Matter of fact he will get himself into trouble trying to prove it. He also cannot draw into an inside strait no matter how many times he tries. 18: What does he hate? Loosing. Boredom. He also tends to have a low opinion of those that mess with people just cause they can, for no other reason than pure spite. 19: What does he love? He is something of a narcissist so he loves himself a lot. He loves going fast, and he loves gambling. He loves his family but they drive him out of his mind, though he gets along with his younger sister the best. And he really loves his hot rod “Black Betty. 20: What is his name? Somehow free time and NSRCG flowed together in a rich alchemy to create a churlish 14 year old otaku technoshaman, complete with social ineptitude outside the matrix, a vipergun fetish and love for glorious Nippon.
