Missing bookmarks.
Wrong pagenumbers, Frontpage starts at A, backpage then starts a 1 (instead of B) and it continues from there. So when you jump to page 140, you actually end up on page 139. I'm not one of the devs, but as a customer, I have to say I really appreciate people like you who bring things like this to their attention.
I say "like you", but to be accurate, I've never seen anyone with such a quick and thorough eye for detail before. If you're not a forger of Renaissance paintings or similar, I think you're probably wasting yourself. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) K. |

What he is is a Technomancer with a set of high base analyze, browse and data search complex forms with serious threading on each that he can quickly match and analyze every single word and reference within the book.
Or he's just that good. |

He's also on the proofing team now. So errors in future products should decrease dramatically.

The only reason I'm so quick, is that I already had all the errors marked in my old version of the PDF, so when I got the new version, it was simpley a matter of comparing the two. A lot of the errors was already reported in the old SM Errata threat, and many of them have been corrected.
While I am on the proofingteam now, I can confirm that many of the errors I find, have already been found by other proofers when I get to report them. As English is not my first language I tend to be slower at reading than most of the other proofers, and I seldom find the gramathical errors. In addition my English is British English, where as the books are all in American English (colour/color, travelling/traveling and many others), so I have basically given up on finding gramatical and language errors. Unfortunately I had most of my vacation while Running Wild was beeing proofed, so I know that I have found errors that are still in the book, but I won't report these until I have the final book in my hands, which could take a few days. Now that's not fair. Yes - Dumpshock gets into a big tizzy over any unclear rules that exist, but the unclear parts are actually few and far between. SR4 has been good in this area so far. I knew I should have found an appropriate smiley to attach to that quote (sadly, I couldn't track down one with the DPR mask). And yes, aside from a few issues, I've been impressed with the over-all clarity of the rules for Shadowrun. |

Oh god yes. This to x1000 magnitude.
Anyone who thinks SR4 has unclear rules, or bad proof reading should go try playing one of White Wolf's games. Like ... ANY of them. Or worse, try Exalted and actually look at the rules. An Elder PC in that game can litterally crack the world in half and kill everyone in existence including him/herself with a single action, by RAW. Also you can have 2 Elder PCs parry each other and cause reality to CEASE to EXIST, also entirely by RAW. There is a reason I'm retiring my Exalted campaign. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cyber.gif) Frankly I think everyone on the Catalyst team is to commended. Compared to the rest of your industry, their products are both still cool AND the rules make sense more than 90% of the time. If that sounds like a backhanded compliment to anyone, you need to play more game systems. I'm completly serious! |

Just to give you a hint of what happens behind the scenes:
The proofing notes for the next (forthcoming) Dawn of the Artifacts adventure exceeded the maximum size of a Google Doc. We needed to start a second one. |

While I fully agree on your WW assessment, I still get annoyed at the vast quantity of times SR has chosen to drop the phrase "The GM decides" into the book instead of 1) giving an actual rule or table, or 2) giving a new GM any hint of a clue as to what to base the decision on. I'm all for empowering effective GMs, but cut the new guys some slack and provide a fallback baseline. |
