I can't because there's nothing really happenning in that movie. It could have been over by 15 to 30 minutes. One third of the Movie shows a room full of people talking to each other(war Room) One third of the Movie shows a room with two people in it talking to each other shooting out the window(Army base) One third of the Movie shows a plane with 4 or 5 people in it just flying around, ONCE having to out maneuvre incoming unfriendly fire. Then the bombs get dropped. Nobody has to find anything out, nobody has to really fight anybody, there's no stopping it. The plot gives tons of inspiration. No one's asking "what movies do you translate directly to Shadowrun games from start to finish?" It's "what movies have you found inspiration in?" Dr. Strangelove is a shadowrunner's dream job. Tons of espionage, infiltration and spying to be done as you help either orchestrate a nuclear war or work to stop one from happening. And if the last mission ends with the hacker or drone rigger riding a nuclear missle like a cowboy while trying to disarm it before it detonates, so much the better! |

Most Travolta-Movies lend themselves just fine to shadowrun. Now I will admit that I haven't seen all Travolta films, the ones that I have seen that would translate to Shadowrun is significantly lower than those that would. Swordfish - Yes Grease - No Pulp Fiction - Yes Saturday Night Fever - No Wild Hogs - No Hairspray - No Ladder 49 - Maybe Michael - No Look Who's Talking Now - No Of course, if you could translate Hairspray, Michael, or Grease into a Shadowrun, I would be damned impressed. I would say the GI Joe movie doesn't necessarily translate into most Shadowrun plots, it's way too far invested in milspec, I believe it is a good indicator on how training and technology would improve into the future. A powered suit that augments the users ability? Literally a chameleon cloak in the movie.... As for movies in my personal collection that I can think of that I think could be adapted to either the Shadowrun environment, or as plot hooks... Bladerunner Dark Knight The Boondock Saints Dr. Strangelove Swordfish The Matrix The Nightmare Before Christmas (Could be really fun depending on how you twist it) Ong Bak |

I thought The Dark Knight would work pretty well. Not Batman - I was talking about the Joker.
And Metal Gear Solid. Any of the games really, but the 4th one is really the one that reminds me of a movie the most. And ANY Quentin Tarantino film. Especially Reservoir Dogs, which I think has the perfect Shadowrun flavor to it. |
