With Spirit and OYABUN's approved sobmissions, registration for this game is officially closed. Great job, everyone. And OYABUN, thanks for getting the character in on time. Truth is, I'd have cut you some slack if it were late, but I figured putting a limit on CharGen would speed things along. Here's the deal; my wife and I are going to Chicago tomorrow to the Field Museum. Gonna be gone pretty much all day. When we get home tomorrow night, I'll toss up an OOC thread where we can all store our character sheets and discuss strategy, dice rolls, posting instructions, etc.
I have the next few days off of work, so I expect the IC Sympathy for the Devil thread to be active the day after tomorrow. Thanks again everyone. The characters look great. -milk. |

P.S. Wow, Sophie has some serious specializations there... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinbig.gif) Yep. There's probably a bit of my influence at work in that; I tend toward a lot of skill specialization at CharGen, because it feels more realistic. I'm a musician, for instance, and I'm a much more capable rhythm guitarist (started off as a bassist) than I am lead (my scales are rusty). Or, like, I consider myself a pretty good driver, but I never learned how to ride a bike when I was a kid (lol, I know), so I'm no good on a motorcycle. And I've only ever owned automatics, so even though I can drive a stick, a clear specialization still exists even among wheeled vehicles. I dunno, I just think specializations are awesome. Anyways, great work again, everyone. OOC thread should be up this evening when we get home. -milk. |

Have fun at the place doing the stuff (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Personally, I agree that specialization adds alot of personality to the character, but it eats up alot of BP when it can be gained after chargen from a simple 2 Karma (Which is why I like karmagen, no change in costs like that). |

And another option is you could let us take our bonus 10 BP as 20 Karma. That is a couple of rating one skills and 6 specializations.
In my mind it is the the GM's advantage to see what the character is specializing in from the start. Helps define the character and give a truer picture of the characters capabilities right off the bat. I mean you know the character is eventually going to specialize, but seeing it in black and white helps. Have fun! BTW, are we using 3 times the desired stat in karma or 5 times the desired stat in karma? |

In my own game, we go through one or two revisions to the character after the first few games so my players can adjust them once they have played a while.
The character may start out one way and during play turn out to be very different. And a lot of that depends both on events and on their fellow team mate's personalities and the roles they end up filling. It will be interesting to see how things work out. Maybe we do some prelude work explaining how we know each other and what runs we have gone on? Perhaps do it as a few paragraphs of shared background that expanded on our contacts. Rev would be very familiar with the local junkyards and would have spent a lot of time on matrix starting 2 years ago until able six months ago. The last six months have been about getting back in to the streets, getting her bike working, and getting back in shape. Rev also spent a lot of time helping out Harrison at the clinic (most of it was matrix help/receptionist/admin). She would been interested in the latest bike sim. Really all we need to do is have a link to at least two other PCs that ends up with everyone one a friend of a friend (a moving bodies type of friend (at least if a cred stick is involved)) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) . |

Do we want to all come from the same general area of Seattle?
Perhaps Puyallup or near by there? It would also explain why we knew each other. |

Bye Thanee Told you I'm a reformed (more or less (less with BP) min maxer and rules lawyer). I mean I play a lot of Champions so what can I say. It is a hazard of playing the Hero system. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) But I'm doing a lot better on rules lawyering. Nothing like a few years of running your own game to break you of it. More important to keep the game moving. Just pre game jitters. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

Could very likely know Gwen from that, as junkyard is basically her second home (Her first home being more of a moving junk heap (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ). Could also have offered a fair bit of help repairing and upgrading the bike (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

My guess would be 3, since we are using the original book, not the anniversary book. Right on. I made it back from Bug City alive. Barely. I do actually have 4EA; it's just in pdf format and I almost never refer to it. If there are any "better" rules presented in Anniversary, just toss them my way. Like the Karma thing - either way is fine with me. -milk. |

The increase in stats karma cost to 5 times the desired stat is balanced by a more generous Karma award system. Times five for stats does balance the Karmagen system better at 750 karma. Have you checked out? http://shadowrun4.com/resources/sr4a/sr4a_changes.pdf It covers the main changes. My top three are the larger ranger modifiers, changing the highest success test difficulty from 4 to 5, and having cover now be a Defensive Modifier adding to the Defender’s Dodge pool. The most important sections are: GAME CONCEPTS • Success Test Difficulty Thresholds have been increased from 1-2-3-4 to 1-2-3-5. • Extended Test Task Thresholds have been increased from 4-8- 12-16+ to 6-12-18-24+. • Extended Test limits number of rolls by a cumulative -1 dice pool modifier per roll. • The optional rule to cap dice pools at 20 dice or twice the sum of the characters natural Attribute + Skill ratings, whichever is higher, has been introduced. COMBAT • The Ranged Combat Distance Modifiers are now –0/–1/–3/–6. • The Combat mechanics of Cover have been modified and distinguished from Firing Blind/Full Cover and Cover is now a Defensive Modifier adding to the Defender’s Dodge pool. • Chase combat has been revised slightly to factor in multiple opponents. Speed is now a factor in Chase Combat. • Attacker firing from cover has been increased to a –2 Dice Pool Modifier. |

Ernesto 'NestO' Fernandez Geas: Ritual (Must steal to maintain connection to Rat) I hope you don't plan to use you're skills on your teammates... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I'm really digging the character though. A "thief" type character seem uniquely suited to a 300 point game. I could see him graduating to an awesome covert ops character. ----------------------- I am pretty flexible as far as location goes. I had envisioned Hollywood living in Redmond, but Puyallup works too. |

...and having cover now be a Defensive Modifier adding to the Defender’s Dodge pool. Heh, we played it that way all the time. Nice! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) QUOTE Extended Test limits number of rolls by a cumulative -1 dice pool modifier per roll. This is also a very good idea. Otherwise Extended Tests are mostly just autosuccesses (unless it's time-critical). Bye Thanee |
