Well, here's a character that, thanks to another thread, has been beating me over the head to be created. He's an elven Mystic Adept guitarist, with his band being his magical group; he's Sorcery aspected, with a Must Rock geas, and he has no combat skill outside his magic.
Crunchwise, he has: 3 Body 3 Agility 3 Reaction 2 Strength 7 Charisma 4 Intuition 3 Logic 5 Will 3 Edge 5 Magic I'm not sure how I'm gonna split his magic, but I'm thinking 1 rank of Enhanced Reflexes would make his solo's even MORE wicked than his Artisan 5 (Guitar specialty) would have previously made them....Which brings me back on topic, and brings me to the skills 3 Sorcery Group 5 Artisan (Guitar) 2 Influence Disguise 1 (Stage Makeup) And as for qualities (so far): Mystic Adept Geas (Must Rock) Sorcery Aspect Beyond this, I'm rather stumped....could anyone help me out here? |

Enthralling Performance? I think that's an adept power IIRC.

Get rid of the Aspected Sorcerer and create/use a tradition with Task Spirits. Artisan is a Technical Skill, so you can give it to your spirits and have your own backup band and singers whenever you want. They double as roadies, too.
For adept powers, Enthralling Performance is a must, along with Improved Ability (Artisan) and Kinesics. Commanding Voice would be nice, too, but not a must-have. Agility Boost is another nice one conceptually, but it has no impact on your musical prowess whatsoever. Improved Reflexes is the same way. It's all Charisma + Artisan. Illusion Spells is what you'd be all about in that department. Gotta have Trid Entertainment or Phantasm for sure. Orgasm (for "solo performances") and Orgy (for your adoring crowds) is another nice one to consider. Combat spells are right out. If you have to have an attack spell, go with Clout and explain it as the sheer strength of your music blasting them in the face. The Seductress (I think that's the one who's into vices at any rate) would be a great mentor spirit to consider, especially if you wanna go down the sex, drugs and rock and roll route. Gotta have the Fame and Inspired qualities, too. Etiquette (Music Business) and the Business (Music) knowledge skills are needed. Music Composition (Genre of Choice) is a must-hvae as well. Negotiation (Bargain) is a good specialty, too, unless you wanna blow resources on a talent agent. You'll definitely want a "Groupies" group contact, too. Oh, and Distinctive Appearance, of course. |

Your guitar should be a Focus of some sort. Anchor a Lightning Bolt Spell on it, with a Detection Spell to see whenever you hit a series of notes in a row and tilt the guitar up and cast the Lightning Bolt at the ceiling. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Concept update: This is now going to be a campaign; I'm building the characters to hand out to the players, and they'll rise from obscurity (no fame as of yet)...No 'runs, just the music....
Now, I wonder what a norse magical hard rock group consisting of an elven lead guitarist, an orkish drummer, and a human singer would call themselves.... |

You should totally let the players design their own group. That's half the fun.

Doesn't Street Magic describe sonic element combat spells?

yep, more specifically, it details sonic elemental effects, and those can be applied to any indirect combat spells with a elemental effect from both SR4 and street magic...

You're going about it backwards. First pick the style, then pick your placement in the band, then pick your clothes, your instrument, then, finally, your skills and attributes (as an aside, actual musical skill is optional, however high Body is probably a requirement).
