I already read this rumor, that not only humans but also elves could be infected by the nosferatu-strain of HMHVV. Could somebody please give me a reference-page out of the books?

Runner's Companion only states that humans can become Nosferatu. None of my searching finds anything about elves...

IIRC it was done in a novel and it may be mentioning in the fluff in RC but I don't have my book handy. Its extra rare also Nosferatu come from a different strain of HMHVV. I'm sure if you can find the fluff you could talk a GM in to allowing it if one can recall how the elf Nosferatu came about if it was some freaky freak event your GM might be not allow it.

Running Wild: Only human become nosferatu : P.57

But in page 58 Tehy write :
QUOTE
HMHVV I is notable among the various Ghilani retroviruses
for having multiple expressions for a particular species, in this case
humans. What we don’t know about the Bruckner-Langer strain
could fill entire libraries. What we do know about it is somewhat
more limited. It is the most enigmatic form of an already enigmatic
disease. It is also, fortunately for the world, exceptionally rare, affecting
perhaps one in 10,000 of the Infected by most estimates.
It is essentially a more potent version of the basic retrovirus,
and it creates the “super-vampires” commonly referred to as nosferatu.
All known nosferatu have been powerful magicians, so it can be
inferred that victims must either already be Awakened before their
transformation or that Bruckner-Langer automatically Awakens its
victims as a part of their transformation. Considering their power,
neither option is particularly appealing.
It is widely believed that Bruckner-Langer is lethal to all nonhuman
metaspecies. Given the rarity of this particular strain of the
virus, however, and the persistent rumors of non-human BL victims,
the possibility of this strain expressing in another metahuman species
cannot be ruled out.
> Is he actually suggesting that there might be super-banshees or
super-wendigos out there?
> Sticks
> It might have already happened. There have been stories of
Infected trolls living in London’s sewers for more than a decade,
though reports varied as to what they might have been. For a while,
mutaqua were simply thought to be trolls mutated by the chemical
cocktail found in those sewers. Someone later suggested that they
might be fomóraig. Another someone said they ran into bleachednone
white dzoo-noo-qua who burst into flame with a light spell. There
have been scattered sightings since then, but recently someone I
know came back with a piece of one of these things big enough to be
analyzed. While there’s nothing positively confirmed that I’ve seen,
preliminary reports from that analysis show that it had HMHVV Ia
in its genome.
> Stone
> I wonder what our dear friend Martin de Vries would have to say
about this. Anybody know what’s happened to old Marty? It’s been
quite a while since his last book tour.

Naaaa....ok. I think in actual source-books, there will be nothing more specific than this. Thank you for the reference.

It's a house rule, but in my games Vampirism and Nosferatu are cross-species, just to keep the possibility of random expressions since there are fluff inferences of same.

The novel is Nosferatu, and the BBEG in the it is an Elven Nosferatu who can only drink blood from a specific blood group. Its not a bad novel, but a bit wazoo on some points.

Okay a lot wazoo...

Nosferatu were first introduced in Paranormal Animals of Europe, including the possibility of elven nosferatu. An elven nosferatu was shown (and killed) in the novel Nosferatu by the same authors. It is the stated insanity of the guy that was writing the Infected for Runners Companion that that previous elven nosferatu ate everyone that any new elven nosferatu would be able to subsist on, at least without going mad scientist with cloning. This does not, of course, mean more interesting things might happen...as mentioned in Running Wild (written by Patrick, who is very good at these things).

Does it feel good to refer to your self in 3rd person? I think the insanity is spreading as I find myself agreeing.

Speaking as a GM, I enjoy the fluid nature that HMHVV has opened for us. I sleep soundly knowing that if I so choose, I can have a dwarven wendigo attack the party, or use pixie loup-garou ninjas to raid their underwear drawers..

... And have it all RAW as they say they don't fully understand HMHVV yet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/vegm.gif)

I do what I can. I tried to throw some nice, weird shit into that while still meeting all the things I was asked to do when I got that assignment.
