saving money:
buy Novatech Airware (1250 Yen)(response 3, Signal 3)
Buying Module Rating 5 upgrade (5000 yen) (raising response to 5, Raising signal to 5) (SR4A pg 222)
costing 6250 yen vs 8000 yen from Fairlight Caliban.. (and +1 response rating)(Fairlight Caliban have base response 4)

As far as builds go he seems pretty powerful and well thought out. As far as fluff goes, I'm not quite sure where this guy would be coming from. With that kind of hardware he must have significant backing, so I'd think corporate. But you also have a VERY good infiltration skill. I don't think that the corps would be looking into hiring ninja hackers too frequently.

So yes, if your table is made up of people who are making optimal builds and powerful characters, this guy is pretty good. If your table is full of more realistic characters, you might get a few smirks (especially with the dark gun specialty that is mechanically a very good idea but flavor wise always feels a little off to me).

So yeah, all I am trying to say is, make sure this guy will fit in at the table you are going to be playing at.

Thanks for the help. I changed the character a bit and added some useful cyberware like the Orientation System and bought some Mapsoft programs. I also updated my contacts a bit by changing the Spider to an AI. I am not sure how many AIs exist and if they are openingly friendly with outsiders/runners. I also changed the commlink to save me some money.

You have Cybercombat and Hacking at 3 (12 points each) and Electronic Warfare at 2 ((IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) points, for a net of 32, two more than if you had just bought the Cracking Skill Group.

Since you appear to be an on-site hacker/infiltrator, you might want to pick up some things to help you get in (tools to break through those maglocks help)
