Random question, how sensitive are a Troll's horns? Would they have nerves in them? How badly, if at all, would it hurt if one got cracked or part broke off? Would it eventually regrow? Just one of those little things that I never thought about before.
Friend suggested that the books said that they were like rhino's horns, which makes sense, but I don't remember seeing anything like that so I may have missed it. Anyone? |

I'd imagine they're like really big fingernails... if it was torn off it'd probably hurt like a bitch, but if just part was broken or cut off, I imagine it wouldn't be too painful.

My thought is that they'd be about as sensitive as teeth, and probably hurt like a mofo if broken off. I don't imagine that they'd regrow. Does bone regrow if you remove it? (That was a rhetorical question, don't awnser that.) |

Hard to say, pain seems to be pretty low on the list for cows. I mean you can stick them with four inch long needles and they don't budge, and their horns bleed like a fountain when you cut them off. I mean some of them don't even flinch when you turn them into steers. Poor little bastards. You never know I guess, trolls might be the same, they can apparently take bullets without flinching.

My Troll, Kaido, removed his horns himself. He is pretty self-depricating, and was in a place in his life when he really didn't want to be a Meta. My GM and I assumed it would be permanent, but it hurt like hell, and they ache sometimes. He also filed his Tusks flat...

Most of the SR pictures of trolls depict them with a horn broken off, so I'm going to assume that it doens't hurt them (ie. like a tooth)

It may not be authoritative, but I seem to remember that in Earthdawn the Therans would cut the horns off of trolls that they enslaved. I can't remember the source though.

I imagine that the horns are fingernail-like, not bone-like (as someone had previously said): Like a rhino, basically. Tusks would be teeth, but the horn could be filed down, cut short, etc, andwould e ventually grow back. Like Hellboy. ;-D
