I'm watching this new show called Spartacus: Blood and Sand. It's produced by Sam Raimi, the same fellow responsible for Xena: Warrior Princess, and Lucy Lawless is among it's stars.

Sparticus lacks the camp of Xena, but it makes for this with extreme brutality and gallons of blood on one had and gratuitous sex and nudity on the other.

Sparticus presents us a view of the Roman Empire from the perspective of the slave, Spartacus; the moderate wealthy lanista, Lentulus Batiatus; and his wife Lucretia. It's also a view of a Roman Empire where casual lesbian sex with slavegirls is just something every moderately wealthy woman does, often.

It isn't high art, certainly, but it doesn't pretend to be. It is pure pulp escapism full of manly men killing each other and womanly women fingering each other.

Between the brutal combat, gallons upon gallons of blood, the full frontal nudity (both male and female) and Lucy Lawless getting pleasured by slavegirls, it has something for everyone and I very much recomend it.

I wholeheartedly support full frontal nudity by Lucy Lawless. Is she a brunette again like she was in Xena, or did she stick with the blonde from Battlestar Galactica?

She's a redhead this time.

Apparently they are going merkin rather than clean-cut to get the rug to match the drapes. At least that's what Lucy has said on the promotional interview circuit. I haven't seen the show yet.

If the first season is out on DVD/BD by Christmas it'll definitely be under the tree for the wife.

Yeah, Netflix has it on Instant Play. The only way I ever find a second to watch it. 'Course so far I've only made it to episode 2, but I've already seen everything hyz is talking about so ... good stuff! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I started watching it, when I have time. My wife has apparently almost finished the series though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) I think she's just watching it for the combat, though.

My dear husband forgets I have an account at Dumpshock. And I'm pretty sure he knows about... *all* of my interests. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Lucy Lawless has gotten to be too old for my tastes, but some of those slave girls are pretty easy on the eyes.

But for the record, you guys are dorks comparing a fictional elf to a real live woman (albeit in an acting role).

Now, now... comparing "post" sizes in public is just rude. And for what its worth, Lucy Lawless is HOT as a redhead. I definitely have a girl-crush. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/love.gif)

I agree with you that 'real-live' trumps fictional any day. For a similar reason, I disagree with the age thing. Older women ... know stuff... that younger ones haven't even imagined yet.

Yes, and that means I spend less time posting and more time watching all of Spartacus B&S, & doing other things, right?

I don't know if I'd want a woman with SO much experience.....

I'm in my lithe 20s and I bet I know/can do everything LL can do (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

But back on topic, the power games in the show are a little weak in terms of strategy, but the Dominus/Domina are so fun and evil and lovable.

Even if I felt that way, which I don't because from the still shots (haven't caught the show itself yet) she's never looked better on the screen IMO, there is no way I'd post that. She's the same age as my wife. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

P.S. I'm not even one for redheads. She's just totally rocking her late 30's.

If a way to test that bet comes up I for one feel there should be extensive video documentation made available for the purposes of peer review. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

It's time to cue "Lecher Bitch" because that references the Vampire CRPG.
