Sorry all; I couldn't help it. I was going to go with "Are you kidding me?" But after the last statement of "glad I haven't offended more people," a facepalm doesn't really cover it.

Seriously. What is -your- history here in Hawaii? Yeah, racism sucks. What happened to your girlfriend isn't right. But disagree with the politics. Being racist isn't right.

But let's look at another point: are you really starting a racist rant because of a SR piece written -how- many years ago?

Oh, and the "I have friends" card isn't a good thing. It's a way for ignorant and/or racist people to show how they "aren't" racist/sexist/etc (which, given you're first sentense, kinda invalidates the point.) I have to go with one of the other posters: do you even know what the word racist means?

I guess I did misuse the word "racist," which means I'm an idiot because it's probably going to get me banned. In any case, the statement was that the activist groups are ineffective and comprised of people that are hard to sympathize with, and that they're racist themselves. The "I have friends" line was to make the distinction between the groups and any old person I would wave to on the street.

I'm not sure what I can say at this point that would correct a reading of my OP that makes me look like a racist, because it was a severe lapse of judgement for me to preface a rant against racial protest groups by saying that I was about to say something racist. Not to mention to post it on a board with a strict policy against flame-bait.

Thing is. You can be bigoted against bigots. And by your statements you are racist. You just defend your racism by aiming it at your (( perceived)) racist targets. You're lumping an entire ethnotype of people in as _____, and disliking them for it.

I don't believe that all native hawaiians are as I described-- at least I think I don't; I have learned how common it is to be biased in an implicit way-- asserting that I don't have any hate for native hawaiians to my own knowledge is all I can say to that point-- And if you don't believe me when I say that, I guess I have to offer an apology that I don't know how to make.

As for how ridiculous it is for me to claim I had no idea I'd get in trouble for this, when I said it was a "lapse of judgement" I mean I recognize how thoroughly stupid it was and am frankly ashamed of myself. I wanted to talk about this after reading through, and figured a forum about Shadowrun would be a good venue for that, not remembering at all that on public forums you have to make at least some attempt to be polite and not post obviously offensive things.

I don't really know how to apologize; you're just going to have to take my word for it that I'm sorry.
