i think emergence held a story about kids being led out of their homes by bustamove, or equivalent, toys.

Deus did manipulate kids, but I think it was more directly, through gaming interfaces, etc. And yeah, Emegence had a creepy-but-harmless AI manipulating kinds through robo-toys.
