Sheet is good, but (and I'll look again after I post this) I don't have your background/bio.

No, I do. Sheet is good, background is....adequate but very thin.

Will try to come up a deeper background by the weekend but I can't promise anything. I'm dead tired and I suspect it will be so for the next week or so.

Hey, idea: in Blood in the Water, there was a proposal (which ended up not happening) to have the "Kickoff Party" as a thread running alongside the main story, acting essentially as an in-character lounge for not-very-plot-related chitchat. With over half of our characters done, and the rest of them fleshing out story and character, would anyone (and especially Penta (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinbig.gif) ) want to sort of get an "early start" on such a thread? The idea is that we're somewhere (maybe we just met, maybe we're floating in the ocean doing nothing) just chillin' in whatever sort of lounge or unnamed ship ends up having.

Maybe we meet on the Matrix? Then, when this game gets underway, Kevin Roberts shows up and tells us the job?

Here's Aquaman. Criticism accepted and encouraged........

Commlink

Meta Link Commlink, 100¥
-Response 6 Upgrade, 8,000¥
-Signal 4 Upgrade, 500¥
-Simsense Accelerator, 15,000¥
-Optimisation (Command), 500¥
-Spoof Chip, 500¥
-Hot Sim Module, 250¥
-Skinlink, 50¥
Novatech Navi OS, 1,500¥
-Firewall 6 Upgrade, 3,000¥
-System 6 Upgrade, 3,000¥

I just noticed, your using a Meta Link which has a Response of 1 then upgrading it to 6 and you got the Novatech Navi that has a firewall of 3 that you upgrade to 6. Problem is, according to SR4A pg 222...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... but without that rule, no one would buy anything higher than the Meta Link.

Should point out, that - especially with all those low level skills and specializations - you are going to be noticeably weaker than anyone else on board, Heroin. I would venture a guess that by using BP instead of Karma you are going to have a character 1-200 karma behind the others.

Background is forthcoming... eh...

Red: GM preference was 400+20 BP... given that preference, and the fact I find KarmaGen somewhat hokey (or have in the past) I went BP.

This setup may mean I don't toss ridiculous dicepools, but Breach is more flexible, which is the point of the build.

I like Breach because he carries three longarms. I wonder if the UCAS still sympathizes enough with CalFree that the Optimum would have a stigma, though. That said, if there was ever a character that would prefer Karmagen, it would be this one. Specializations aren't any cheaper, but lots of low skills are.

Also, as far as the lounge thing is concerned, I don't think pre-boat would be good - the idea would be some place where we could have our characters, who now know that they're crewmates, get to know each other a little better over a cup of soycaf. The idea would be to have it running in parallel to the main campaign, during some off-time or something.

EDIT for a little clarity.

I didn't mean that with your low level skills you'd be weak, but as Michandre points out, doing it with BP is very much sub-optimal. A rough BP to Karma conversion is 1 BP = 1.5 to 2 karma or so. Low level skills and specializations costs about the same karma as they do BP, which means losing out on a lot of karma in your character's case.

BP actively punishes you for low level skills and specializations. Karma gen encourages it.

Smooth triple posting!

Ugh, I've been up all night doing school stuff, and my final is in 5 and a half hours.

Not done yet, either. That said:

Ease up re the BP/Karmagen thing. It's totally DH's choice - though that said? DH, when I get home from my final this afternoon I'll PM you my email address, if not before. If you could email me your sheet done using DamienKnight's Character Generator, it'd be helpful. (I use it to do the math for me.(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )

I'll need to get ahold of the sheet... never did like someone else's sheet doing my math for some cussed reason... I'm oldskool to a fault, all notepad, all the way. Paper, even. Only issue I'll have with it is the second cyberwear suite, the dive one, is a custom jobbie pending your approval.

As for Karma vs. BP, I had nothing much else to spend the BP on anyway. He's a skillmonkey more than anything. It's another quirk of mine, I always saw Karmagen as too easy on a build, and I can't even be sure why.

Buh. I never read that rule, as I tend to use SR4 for any rules, haven't read SR4A cover to cover yet. I've got a revised sheet to post (No more sylph or cybershop), so I'll make the changes then.

Just fyi, get a Transys Avalon or Hermes Ikon and mod them up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Also, about to send in character background Penta, I kinda forgot to do one. >_>
