Delayed, due to work/birthday/drunkeness/Henry Rollins, but here is the Mark II, with wants/needs mixed in:

[ Spoiler ]

I tweaked the sensors minimally, despite not seeing the usefulness of microphones at sea (trust me, they pick up an insane amount of useless junk noise, though I imagine by the '70s software could filter it out). I love the proposed EW drone, but the problem now comes with mod slots. We're two short for the rack, and that would be cramming things to the gills, with no room for extra smugglers compartments, which I left out as well.

On the subject of a nexus: given we're in a small environment, commlink-commlink comms are fine by me, so I didn't factor in the cost of one.

Mounts for heavy weapons again take up slots, and there aren't too many of us that'll be hauling out an LMG when the going gets rough. I can see the desire, but I'm not sure the need is there.

That all said, Salt is going to lament the fact this ship is one technology trumped up piece of hoodoo, rather than a good old fashioned grease and muscle low-tech outfit.

So I shouldn't buy the shop as part of my gear?
I wouldn't buy anything more than a kit, I haven't myself. Granted, my character's pre-campaign (spoofed) lifestyle limits his gear to stuff he can actually lug around. His only "vehicle" is a teddy bear drone stuffed with electronics and a smoke projector loaded with breathtaker.

How many slots are you using in that sensor setup? We have 30 available sensor slots with an improved array. I really think radar is more important than some that stuff, we also could really use some sonar. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Keep in mind that an improved sensor array is said in Arsenal (I think it was) to modify the physical appearance of the ship.

1. Can't see anything like that in the vehicle modification entry.

2. Having different sensors on a ship isn't terribly unusual. o.O

Updated Sensor Package:
Took out the non-linear junction scanner, as it just doesn't make sense in anything larger than a commlink. Their max range is stuck at 2 METERS.
[ Spoiler ]
Ship cost: +7175 nuyen from the last loadout.
444300 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) in total

Minchandre cooked up the sensor array, but I believe all told it uses 26 slots.

I took the input I saw, worked it in. We've got a bit of wiggle room for later development, but it's coming close.

As for the non-standard sensors, ships now, even pleasure craft, use a metric arsetonne of nav gear. Some non-standard sensors in a mast won't seem too out of place, and can be explained away by the ship's status as a salvage vessel.

Yeah, I wouldn't put anything else in the boat itself for now. I don't think we have any really weird sensors other than the Ultrawideband Radar, everything else is stuff you usually see on a ship of that size or are pretty innocuous (Hey joe, why d'ya think that boat's got an olfactory sensor?).

I also don't think we really need internal cameras, now that I think of it, so take that out as well. Leaves us 5 slots free and 58200 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) to play with.

I really want some variety of EW drone. If we can't do the tricked out submarine, can we somewhat modify a GTS Tower? I don't think we need a drone rack to launch and recover that guy, do we? I mean, worst case scenario, Cherry does have Signal 6 and her two Armadillos, but the possibility of a Signal 8 link to a distant Signal 6 retrans unit with good ECM and ECCM makes my mouth water. I'm away from my books right now, so I don't know if it'll fit into our remaining budget.

And, how many slots is a large landing drone rack, anyway? I think we could drop, at the least, the searchlight and interior cameras.

Also, the reason I didn't include radar in the package was because I figured that ultrawideband probably already included it. Anyway, let's use Faraday's latest incarnation, for convenience's sake.

Ultrawideband only goes for 100 meters but can see through up to 20 points of barrier. Rating 6 radar detects objects up to 100 times that distance, but is blocked by opaque obstructions. (Not too common on the open sea)

Biggest problem? Both are subject to jamming. We're gonna need to get rating 6 ECCM for the ship.

I asked Penta about ECCM6 (multiple times, even). He said no more than 4 to start.

Errr... But ECCM 6 is easily obtainable by any standard 750 karma/400 BP character. Avail 12 and 6k (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif)
I guess you feel the need to tone down something to compensate for having a high-end ship?

Not a huge deal, anyway, though.

You can and people are able to analyse all that by hand currently. My Dad can tell you how what types boats sound like and he can estimate speed and size on top of it all from an in water mic.

On the large landing drone rack I wants I see the need but it's a lesser concern.

Ok, I finalized the boat and took out the not-so necessary stuff people were ok with ditching. Added in ECCM. Here's the full stat & mod list with total cost and slots used at the bottom.

You know, if we drop 2800 nuyen of price from somewhere (maybe the ECM on the drone), we can afford the whole EW drone package, though it means we no longer have any mod slots on our boat. Does anyone aside from me support this move? The modified package, as a reminder:

Large landing drone rack (20000) [6]
Saeder-Krupp Mk-17D Neptune (22000)
-Microwave link 8 x 2 (one for the boat) (3200)
-Retrans 6 (4000)
-Smart Jammer Area 4 (4000)

Total price 53200

New total of everything is 497800.

We could always, y'know, hold off on that. Not like those mod slots are going anywhere. I also already have a retrans drone anyway and we are already pretty much the bane of any ship with electronic control systems and wireless capability. The cash we may need to take advantage of before we shove off, but 50k will go quick with supplies/guns/potatoes or whatever. Having a small drone or something with a jammer might be good as a lure, though. But mostly we'd want to hide it, not have it on a landing rack.

More importantly, we need to consider *physical* defenses/drones. Perhaps a drone to launch knockout gas grenades or something? (Maybe even a drone that acts as a walking knockout gas dispenser like my BAM)
